Can anyone shed any light on why Ares is in MPQ?
As far as I'm aware he got torn limb from Limb literally by Sentry.
I believe he should be withdrawn from the game forthwith and those who have him maxed be compensated with 5 legendary tokens.
I find it kind of strange that a dead character hasn't Been removed from the game.

in that case pretty much everyone should be removed.

    Carnage : dead
Steve Rogers : dead and returned
    Peter Parker :dead
Wolverine : ok you got me not dead.

My point is that pretty every marvel character has been dead and some still are (why did you do it joss! )

The game isn't supposed to follow Canon...because who the hell can?

It's comics. He'll come back, and he'll die again.

What is Jean Grey up to now? 13 or so deaths & returns?

    Peter Parker dead?
Let me guess, the work of Brian Bendis.

616 Wolverine is dead, as is most of the 616 universe. Peter Parker is alive, though I don't know which universe version it is. War Machine just died, She Hulk too I believe. Venom is Flash Thompson, Eddie Brock was last seen as Anti-Venom I think. Carnage is alive as he has his own ongoing, which I think people are liking.
Point is, things change, and fast, so adjusting the game every time the marvel winds blow would be time consuming and costly.

Ares isn't dead. He's actively alive and running around in the Contest of Champions comic.

Which, as an aside, is one of my favorite Marvel comics at the moment. Despite being a tie-in to a video game. It's just joyously bizarre. Imagine combining Venom and Hulk, and that's the sort of thing they go for.

Ares was dead a couple of years before this game was ever released, so bringing it up now is really showing up late to the party.

    Dont even touch ARES!
It is best attacking character on 2* ground!
    how dare you!
I'm still use him on DDQ.
God, he has 3 active attacking ability!
Did you ever collect 30 green for him? hm?
Ares will down 50% of 3* characters.
Dead? Are you dead serious? Ares is a god!
Even more, when lower health - the more powerful his red.
    So dont even touch him!

I suppose they could give him Bagman retirement...

Provided the story ever actually progressed :p

Ares is cool. Doesn't seem to suffer the death and rebirth cycle quite as fast as more popular characters (speaking of dead, isn't Cyclops currently mortality impaired?) but as someone else has said trying to keep up with comics is pretty redundant.

If anything the lower gaming tiers are a good place to leave a lower popularity tier character.

If I'm correct, I think he's referring to the universe Spider Gwen comes from.

Gods don't die. Their physical form can be destroyed, but sooner or later they'll return. And that's exactly what Ares did - he was out of commission for a few years following his being ripped in half, but now he's back.

    Wasn't Thor dead back then?

Thor was alive during Dark Reign. In fact, Asgard appearing on Earth was the catalyst for Siege, i.e. the end of Dark Reign.

The saying was "Noone ever stays dead except for Uncle Ben and Bucky."

Look what happened to that, eh?

Removing him would be a bad idea, but "keeping up with the canon" would be kind of a neat idea in a story event. Choose a continuity and timeframe - the characters who are actively involved in the story are boosted. Anyone who was "dead", off-planet, or otherwise unavailable is locked. Everyone else is normal.

Kind of terrible from a game design standpoint, but I can see it being a fun event, particularly for those who follow the continuities.

Uncle Ben is only ever brought back to be killed again.
