Nice to know a bit more about you all
I'm a 30-something male living in UK - not trying to hide my age, I just forget what it is
Work the night shift at a supermarket - pretty bleh, but it pays the bills and then I do a lot of freelance writing to cover my other interests. Also trying to get a novel unsuccessfully published, but that's fine; I like the tortured artist, look.
Here's a quick peek into my current playlists:
TV - House of Cards, Walking Dead, Community.
Books - Altered Carbon, Assassin's Apprentice.
Podcasts - RageSelect, Nerdist. Ex Spill fanatic, if anyone knows who they were
Games - Been a hardcore gamer since the NES, but I've been on a break for the past 2 years. MPQ is pretty much the only thing I'm playing until I see how the PS4/XBOne pan out.
Movies - Just watched Captain America 2, awesome!0 -

Hooray, I hit a Puzzle Quest milestone just a few minutes ago - I hit level 100 with a character for the first time! My 4/2/5 Classic Magneto is ready to march around doing even more unpleasant things with the team's blue, red, and purple AP.0

We have yet another Alliance event, Unholy Outlaw with BP rewards (alliance placement awards yellow). Both the lazyThor and the Hood tourneys have the exact covers that I lack for Magneto MN as prog rewards at 700 pts. Achievable? Oh I hope so.
Heard the news of new characters? (Lazy) Daken and Human Torch. Man I do love me some Human Torch
Oops I only just now noticed that the forums actually have the feature to display code without all the silly periods, I updated the first post with signature codes and added geographical info as well. If anyone feels like marking our members on a global map, welcome, I'll gladly add the graphical representation too.0 -

Awesome news on the human torch, but boo to Lazy Daken. Already hate fighting original Daken for his constant health drain and I don't tend to level 2 power characters.
Working on the 2 tourneys atm. Definitely want the BP cards; not too fussed about Patch, but I know some others here want it, so I'll keep at it for the alliance.0 -
BTW, has anyone here ever managed over 1000 in a tourney? Really want Hood cards, but its the 1100 progression reward and I've only twice gotten over 700.0
-
Locked, I come to your place of gathering with blades sheathed. I just wanted to express appreciation for the interview session we had last night. It helped spread our message and allowed me to ascend past the 25th lvl of reputation so that I may smite those who would sully our grounds peddling their telecommunication devices, foot apparel, and ofcourse kitchens
Hope your alliance keeps rockin. As the great story of toys once proclaimed, you've got a friend in me0 -
Going 1000 in a tourney is easy if you do a little preparation, aka 'tanking'. I have dumped my MMR hard in two tourneys two weeks ago. And I'm still getting matched with low- and mid-powered teams and ripping them apart. But I do not have enough play time to grind to 1000 and usually shield up around 700.0
-
Ugh. Really not looking forward to the same daken we already deal with but at level 115.
Human torch would be neat though. I bet he's the new 4*.
Also, did you guys notice the enhancements coming to alliances? In-app chat? Fancy!0 -
Daken is already annoying to fight, and Lazy Daken.. Ugh. Well, Human Torch does sound cool, and it looks like he might have some interesting new abilities.
How's everyone doing in the Lord of Thunder tournament? It's ending soon, and I'm currently in 3rd shielded with 662 points. I'm hoping for a top 10 finish, as my Patch is only a 3/0/1 right now and I'd love to finally get his red cover. I noticed that we're currently in 4th place Alliance-wise, so I must not be the only one hungry for Patch covers! Good job team!0 -

I did some tanking for LoT to acquire points quickly enough, when I shielded, retals started coming in. Patch covers don't just lie around here, not since Thick as Thieves as I am told (and I ignored TaT for the most part just like Heroic Juggernaut recently, the severe scaling put me off).
Good job indeed!

Whew, it's a feeding frenzy in the Lord of Thunder tournament right now - I jumped to second place, as the player previously above me vanished completely out of the top 10 a couple of minutes after unshielding. If you're reasonably happy with your rank, exercise caution if you decide to unshield, as it might be akin to tying a ham around your neck and jumping into a pool of piranha.0

WOOOO! Great job guys and gals, we earned the Yellow Patch cover and a nice chunk of ISO to boot. I finished top five in my bracket, and that earned me (along with the Alliance reward) one of each cover. 4/1/2 Patch is marching ever closer to being usable!
I think this calls for a rendition of "Patches", the excellent cover by Clarence Carter
On a farm way back up in the woods
I was so raggedy, folks used call me, “Patches”
Papa used to tease me ‘bout it
Of course deep down inside he was hurt
‘Cause he’d done all he could
My papa was a great ol’ man
I can see him with a shovel in his hand
See, education he never had
But he did wonders when the time got bad
The little money from the crops he raised
Barely paid the bills we made
Oh, life it kicked him down to the ground
When he tried to get up, life would kick him back down
One day papa called me to his dyin’ bed
Put his hands on my shoulders and in tears he said
He said, “Patches
I’m dependin’ on you, son
To pull the family through
My son, it’s all left up to you”
Two days later papa passed away
And I became a man that day
So I told mama I was gonna quit school
But she said that was daddy’s strictest rule
So every morning ‘fore I went to school
I fed the chickens and I chopped wood too
Sometimes I felt that I couldn’t go on
I wanted to leave, just run away from home
But I would remember what my daddy said
With tears in his eyes on his dyin’ bed
He said, “Patches
I’m dependin’ on you, son
I tried to do my best
It’s up to you to do the rest”
But then one day a strong rain came
And washed all the crops away
And at the age of 13
I thought I was carryin’ the weight of the whole world on my shoulders
And you know mama knew what I was going through
‘Cause every day I had to work the fields
‘Cause that’s the only way we got our meals
You see, I was the oldest of the family
And everybody else depended on me
Every night I heard my mama pray
Lord, give him strength to face another day
4 years have passed and all the kids have grown
The angels took mama to a brand new home
God knows people, I she'd tears
But my daddy’s voice kept me through the years
Sayin’, “Patches
I’m dependin’ on you, son
To pull the family through
My son, it’s all left up to you”
I can still hear papa when he said, “Patches
I’m dependin’ on you, son
I tried to do my best
It’s up to you to do the rest”
I can still hear papa when he said, “Patches
I’m dependin’ on you, son

What about patches? Sorry, couldn't resist...0

Aww **** the last round of Simulator has LazyThor-required missions. This sucks, I don't have him. This automatically puts me out of LazyCap covers too, except for alliance reward one. I fully understand this from game design decision standpoint, but I'm still a bit sad.
Anyway, this gives me more time to play other games on this nice sunny Saturday0 -
Wow, that poem is sad, Puce.
soratami, kVasik lacks lazyThor as well, but at least you're guaranteed a lazy Cap cover in alliance rewards. My lazyThor is very very unusable even with 100 levels worth of buff, but the important thing is to have good supporting cast
I went mStorm + oBW in the Desert mission where Panther was required, not playing mStorm since the one star tourney. And it was surprisingly easy, which it shouldn't be, knowing how good Storm is in Desert. But oBW + mStorm can pull almost any map against most tough enemies, except when they call badly for stunners. Hulk/Ares/Punisher/Thor/Patch/Wolverine cover Storm nicely in this comp and add damage.
oBW + Hood? Just run someone who can convert all the AP to damage! (hint: it's currently Ares besides lazyThor).
Loki against strike tile enemies. Magneto is good against anyone. Panther enjoys abusing Venom and mooks.
Spidey + Venom? Any day of the week when facing lvl 230 Juggs or Dino.
Spidey + Magneto MN: a little bit slower, but doable and reliable.
Et cetera, et cetera.
Edit: this Saturday is nice indeed. I will visit a friend and leave playing for the night0 -
I have used Psylocke, Panther and Doom, nicely buffed, for the previous rounds. BP black AoE was especially nice. I do not have a team of leveled 3-star characters to build a team from. So my method of building a supporting team of 2-stars is pretty simple: damage dealer and healer. For PvP that's always Astonishing Wolvie and OBW. For PvE this depends on buffed chars. For this Simulator I enjoyed running buffed Ares as a damager: 300 dmg per point scalable green nuke was my tool of choice, with semi-suicidal yellow nuke as a backup. OBW for healer, with Spidey instead when she's locked out. I have found Spidey to be useful. But he does not dish out crazy damage by himself, like OBW does. And I'm reluctant to put much ISO into him, knowing he's on the nerf list.0

Had a great run in LoT, came 4th so got the two patch covers, plus the brilliant alliance placing, so 3 Patches in one tournie (which is brilliant!) had to drop 300 hp for the 8 hour shield after I got to 700 (needed that purple Magneto cover) due to it finishing in the morning time in the UK (4.00 am), but of course got 200 back in rewards so well worth it
A brilliant all round effort by the alliance, so well done to all
I have made a nice comeback in the 9 day simulation too, hoping for a top 10 (this one is Uk time friendly I think) should crack 200k by the end
have fun everyone !0 -

made top 5 in LoT too & I needed the 3 patch covers (incl the alliance win - thanks all). hadn't been playing long enough to get many patches when he came out....
#1 in my sim bracket & we're top 20 in alliances so looking good for 3 gold caps. finish time is UK friendly but will be at work Monday so need to do enough to stay top 50
luckily my black panther is fully covered, but I do want a yellow to respec & will put in some points for the team
another Londoner here, thought I would be the oldest but doctorwho beats me by a few years. my gaming started on a ZX81(!), mostly PC RPGs now, but playing MPQ on ipad0
