His blue countdown has saved me a number of times vs high level rags. Often he is the last m man standing when I fight harder opponents but the 4 turn stun with a red countdown tile is a nice finisher.
I didn't have many characters leveled tho, and I got his covers maxed faster than storm.
A high leveled modern Hawkeye is definitely good, people usually underestimate him. He gets even more annoying when he keeps putting up countdown tiles that you can't get rid of because their is either no nearby matches, or because his purple passive is in effect so that you can't hit him.0 -

How does not being able to hit him effect being able to remove his countdown tiles in any way?0 -

If you can't match the tile, you don't have the option of killing him.0 -

He said because of his purple ability I can't break his countdown tiles. It doesn't matter if I can directly damage hawkeye or not, I can still take out his tiles just fine...0 -

Let's create a scenario where a maxed leveled Hawkeye just put a 2 turn countdown tile that is about to kill your team, and Hawkeye only has 100 hp left. You can't destroy it because there are no tiles to match, but you also can't hit him because he keeps dodging your hits. After those two turns are up, the tile goes off and kills your whole team, all because you couldn't hit him to take away his last 100 hit points. Do you see what I mean?0 -
By dump luck I got 5 covers for his blue skill and I have to say eventhough he might not be a main attacker for my teams, I adore him to just add a usefull blue dmg dealer o.o
What Im wondering about, are u guys certain about the added dmg if he uses his purple skill?
I suck at actually testing stuff like this, but what happened:
During the hunt event I used him an thor and during one match thor was hit by pistol directly and after that because of the purple skill.
And both times it dealt 480dmg or something...
So yeah... it would kinda interest me a lot if it really adds dmg (and how much?).
It would pretty much be a dealbreaker for the decision how much Im gonna lvl him I guess ^^""0 -
It works as follows:
If your whole team is hit by something (let's say C. Storms blue for 1000 damage each) and Hawkeyes avoid triggers, he takes no damage, but whoever is now in front takes his own and hawkeyes damage. If this is Thor, then Thor takes 2000 damage, Hawkeye takes 0 damage and your third member takes 1000 damage.
If it's normal damage to one person, the damage is not different. Hawkeye avoids and Thor takes the exact same amount of damage Hawkeye would have taken0 -

I don't think that's correct. I don't recall having one of my team members hit for double damage if a Rocket or Flamethrower went off.0 -

But it's the case. It's not very visible, but look careful at the Hit points after such an attack. And it was patched a while ago, before that it was different (if you haven't used him in a while)0 -
I'm still looking for using as better as possible this char.
Level 75 (5/5/3) :
10 Yellow
34 Red
39 Blue
44 Purple
8 Green
9 Black
4.5 Crit
3 Env
And maybe a good character is ... Venom...
I see :
Level 20 (5/5) :
4 Yellow
5 Red
5 Blue
11 Purple
14 Green
12 Black
So question are :
- what is the max HP for Venom (LVL 40 ?)
- what are his stats for matching green & black tiles ?
With Venom, you can stun the facing team while hawkeye played his shots.
Maybe, Hood will be a good third character too if using his black ability instead of the venom's one and it can match Yellow and Blue tiles (maybe blue instead of Hawkeye directly).0 -
You find all the Info you need here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=781
I also think that Hood would be good with Hawkeye, unfortunally he's relative hard to obtain and not many people are using him so there is no info on how good the combination is.0 -
Hawkeye is very underrated imo.His skills are countdown based and most ppl are inclined towards tile clearing skills, thats why people stay away from him but his dmg to cost ratio is decent for a mid level hero.
The second thing is he only becomes truly online when hes maxed out on his blue and red, so people dont get to try him that much since they didnt bother to level him up in the first place.
I go for 5/5/3 since the passive is unreliable.
I dont know if anyone mentioned this before, but his environment multiplier is also high.0 -
Just wondering if Hawkeye would be considered playable if the lvl 5 removed the countdowns and just placed the colored tile+ fired off the relevant ability?
Sure he'd be a lot stronger but I'm still unsure if even that would bring him on par with the currently used 2*s0 -
I think he'd be more than playable; he'd go from being one of the worst defensive **'s to one of the best, as he would basically demand a stun to prevent his red from going off. Pair with IM40 for shenanigans. Offensively, there's a big difference between getting a stun on demand and getting it two turns from now, so that's a huge buff too. I think you're right that he wouldn't be overpowered or anything, but he would definitely be very good.
Personally, I wouldn't want to see his countdown mechanic removed entirely. That's what makes the character unique. I think a better change would be to split his skills into two countdown tiles that each fire for half of the effect, or increase the timer but have the tiles start out locked, something like that.0 -
His passive is not unrealiable; it's TOO reliable. I hate Hawkeye because even at 5/5/3, he gets my other 2 characters killed easily. Because of that, I have to put him with 2 tanky heroes, limiting my options some more! I'd love him to get hit half of the time to spread around damage, but alas he NEVER gets hit.
One positive thing I can say about Avoid is that it seems to avoid AOE spells. For example if Wind Storm is used, Hawkeye will completely dodge it (under conditions) and no one else takes double damage.
Also, I think his maxed out blue/red is REALLY good. Most of the time you can manipulate the tiles to avoid the AI matching the countdown tile, or if you're smart don't use his blue ability when there are blue tiles clumped up -- clear them first. However, him getting my other 2 killed is really annoying and is the reason why he doesn't see much action.0 -
I could've sworn whenever Hawkeye dodged an AE someone else has to eat that damage from all the PvE events I did where Wolverine or another victim took 2 Flamethrowers in the face for Hawkeye.
His purple is incredibly reliable. It's actually quite shocking when I see Hawkeye get hit at all, and this also means he's surprisingly good on defense simply because he can't be targeted most of the time. I see people bring a specialist role (say Modern Black Widow) but those guys are useless on defense when your opponent can simply target your specialist first, but that doesn't work on Hawkeye. The only thing he can't avoid is a stun. I think as long as you have someone else with higher priority on red (e.g. Thor) and blue (or not at all), he'd be quite good on defense. I've ran across a few teams with level 85 Hawkeye and it really hurts if either ability goes off, and you only got 2 turns. Yes the AI doesn't particularly care about protecting those tiles, and sometimes it'll destroy them on its own, but 2 turns is still just 2 turns.0 -
If Hawkeye supposedly practiced everyday, one would think that he would be able to fire off arrows in quick succession, AND with precision.
So my thought here is why wasn't the mechanic behind Captain America used here instead? It makes more sense in my mind if the ability fired, and then placed a a random countdown tile on the board to return AP, enabling him to fire more rapidly. Plus, destroying the tile essentially represents him getting his concentration interrupted. Then I think he would have a decent chance at actually being utilized. As it stands, his costs are relatively high just to place a random tile that has a rather larger chance of being destroyed, wasting the AP in the process.0 -

I agree that if I can manually decide where to put the red/blue countdown tile, I would be using Hawkeye A LOT more.0

I am referring to his avoid skill that states, "If there are more than x amount of purple tiles on the board, Hawkeye leaps out of the way of attacks moving to the back of the team".
During the black widow tournament I was playing against a team with modern hawkeye on it and I used my bw grey suit's maxed out sniper rifle skill. Hawkeye was not the guy I was targeting, but however when I used the skill everyone is supposed to get hit for about 3kish unbuffed damage. Hawkeye shuffled around during this and avoided all damage. Is that supposed to happen? I wasn't targeting him directly and yet he still avoids? Grrr.0
