I had some luck in Round 8 with Rulk, Switch, Ghost Rider.

Use Rulk AOE attack to remove drones before you use penance stare. Use all his damage against him. Have to be careful to protect ghost rider while you collect black early. Might want to ti try with 4pool to tank black instead of switch depending on your roster.

I ran OML/Ant-Man/Hawkeye with loads of success in Round 6.

Denying yellow is so important...those drones make things so hard when they come out. Have been prioritizing yellow/blue/red denial in that order. I found Ant-Man's constant purple damage and Hawkeye's red AoE to be helpful in handling them, and if you manage to fire Ant-Man's yellow or OML's black it bumps that power potential up quite a bit.

I've had decent luck in round 8 using Thing, SW, and RHulk. Only wiped once so far.

I've had great success with Hulk, 3 star.png Punisher, and Pro X.

Hulk gets his blackflag.png to fire after every IM move, creating green and with luck, some match 5 for Pro X. I use Punisher's cheap greenflag.png to blast the board and hopefully get more match 5's. Pro X throws out his special tiles. If need be, I'll send Professor invisible to boost special tiles. With luck, IM is down to less than 40% health and Punisher finishes with redflag.png to the face. So far I've downed IM with 14, 15, and 18K of health. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Totally forgot that with SWitch boosted, Winfinite is a possibility for me right now as well. Get it rolling early & there's no problem with IM.

Patch, Cage, psylocke. I only failed once when he got an insane chain. Just getting enough strike and attack to ignore his robots, and cage to reduce match damage.

Since IM has no AoE, anything that turns you invisible is a slow but sure game winner.
Since I'm a 3* to 4* transitioner, I don't have the godly OML or almost any usable 4*s.
However. I do have falcap at level 200 with 5 red. And use captain marvel to tank and generate red for divebombs. As a third I use mystique. She changes red and yellow to black and purple. Her black decreases the enemy ap by 2 red and yellow and the purple black combo is a nice nuke. Finally if he gets his drones out then you have 2 stuns.

    Tl;dr falcap, captain marvel, mystique

I'm running Hulk/Daken/Falcon as above, and have caught myself saying things like "Come on, hit me Tony! Harder!" as I fight the boss... icon_e_confused.gif

What's the best strategy for high-round IM?

Does invisibility work well against him (I don't think he has any aoe attacks)? Any other solid combos from the Team Cap boosted list?

Wow, we've reached round 6 and the damage IM does is ridiculous. Match damage in one of his colors does 600-800 damage, and he got this crit off that dealt close to 7.5K damage.

I've gone back to Hulk/anger feeding GSBW/Sniper, as IM's match damage is usually enough to trigger Hulk.

No idea how any other characters in 3* land could manage taking down 20K hit points on an unstunnable enemy that will match damage them to death before breakfast.

Or is this one of those 'you are supposed to lose' things again?

Just wait for Round 8. 5* cap did 1800 per yellow match3 in round 8.

No idea how anyone is beating that side of the event without IMHB or a deep 5* roster.

My best 3* team is 3*Cap, 3*Thor, and 3*Blade (3/5/5 for everybody). I've come to REALLY hate House Party, so I deny yellow constantly. Blade's Black steals IM's Red, while his purple puts out heavy attack tiles. When Thor has enough yellow, he turns the board green. Play style is match yellow instantly, then match blue, then choose your best. IM's red does minor damage, so tank it or steal it. You don't want IM's blue Girl Friday, but if that fires, the board is all colors you will kill him with. If IM gets House Party off, save powers until Cap can stun one, Thor or Cap can nuke one, and then hammer IM. Thor's Green can still hit through a House Party tank, so use that to your advantage. Remember to always switch back to IM, because match damage and Blade's purple can pass under the House Party trigger.

Update: Girl Friday does NOT destroy Blade's red strike tiles. So if you can let Blade fill half the red with strike tiles, you'll take somewhat less damage. That means a Storm Black team-up is a good idea to pop right before IM fires his blue Girl Friday.

I have tested the round 7 IM with scarlet OML and professor
    OML 250 2/2/1
    scaelet champion
    Professor 127 4/3/3
    color boost purple

in the 3 round, the professor is invisible
Later, I let scarlet die because Her strongest power is purple
So if IM fire blue power, the professor invisible tile will be attacked

I successful downed IM to less than 15000
    IM can't touch professor

I think Duck would also be a good choice

Only to rd 6 on this side but thing.xp.hood is working really well. Xp at 3/5/5. Hood only tanks blue. Xp CDs can be popped by green or yellow. Mbw team up in case the reinforcements r out by the time u hve the ap to finish.

Round 7, slow and steady with...

    Team 1:
    - 3 Steve Rogers, 3/5/5
    - Kamala Khan, 5/3/5
    - Hood, 5/3/5

    Team 2:
    - Kamala Khan
    - 3 Thor
    - 3 Hulk

Both teams take a bit of thought before matching, and selective use of KK's purple to block colours.

I'm on round five, and I've only lost once with this team:
    Scarlet Witch
    3* Punisher
    Professor X (Mine is a 5/2/0, level 168)

I make sure to keep at least seven purple AP in reserve, so that if things start to get ugly I can make Prof invisible and chip away in the background. Punisher is nice for the Prof-buffable strike tiles, and he can down Iron Man at 7.8k health or below with Retribution.

Team 2 worked well into round 8. KK was 3/5/5, Thor 3/5/5, Hulk, 5/3/5.
