I have been looking at C Mags thinking of the possibilities of what they could to him. We know based on experience that his blue and red will be hit with a set cost, no AP reduction, the question is how high will the set AP be? I'm thinking Blue will be set to 6-9 AP, I'm leaning towards 8, and I think his Red will be 6-8 my gut says 6AP and he will do more damage, but I think 6 minimum. I'm hoping then that they boost Purple's damage to offset the AP increases to blue and red, So if you think you would play C Mags as is but say his blue and red are set at 8 AP, would you still play him, I would, therefore I think he is safe to level. Spiderman, ooo boy, I have no idea how they will funbalance him, he relies so much on web tile creation and his blue and yellow, I don't know where they will go for him, Spiderman I can see you holding off on, but like I said, if you would play C Mags as is but with higher blue and red costs, go ahead and lvl him cuz that's what I think it will end up being.

You know what they say about assumptions. Offering advice because you assume they will balance him in 1 way when there are 1000's of possibilities is probably not very good advice. He's probably not gonna be that bad but there is 0 way of knowing until it happens.

Agreed with the assumptions, but also looking at it from a Dev to player mentalitiy. They have said they don't like decreasing AP costs as lvl's go up, so we know Blue and Red are gonna take a hit, judging by what they did to Rags, Thor, Wolvie, etc. your looking at blue and red going to at least 6 AP if not more, I figure they will make blue and red cost what they do at lvl 1 and be a flat rate, as for purple, I'm thinking it will either get a Damage nerf or an AP cost increase or both. I could see him being close to damage on his Purple as Patch is for his Red, which means Purple will cost about 14 AP

They always have the ability to do a complete remodel though. Blue may be same ap for 1 strong tile. They may make blue a stun, which I could see fitting with magnetos powers. Red may become like Thor's red or it may be a 12ap aoe attack. It may raise ap with no damage increase. No idea.

Point being there is a very good chance he will remain a solid character like Thor or rags or storm C.
There is equal chance he will be **** like wolvie or Loki.
  • Despite your misgivings, I would focus on C.Mags. He is truly beastly and a fearsome addition to any line-up.

Just to give you an example, a few minutes ago I was playing a 231 PvE event vs Hulk, Moony, and Venom. I accidentally started the event with all my heroes at half health (I took in Punisher, C.Mags, and BP). I managed to secure about 6 blue, 12 red, and 4 purple before an unfortunately epic cascade doomed Frank and T'Challa. With all the opponents still up and at over 10k hitpoints each, I was able to decimate them with Mags alone. ...and unlike Spidey-stun, it was actually fun, exciting, and required some thinking.

I don't think we are going to see any nerfs in the near future, IceIX even said they are putting that operation on hold for now. I assume icon_eek.gif that they are adopting the strategy of introducing more and more characters to effect balance. As many new and shiny heroes flood the market, rosters will diversify and reliance will fade. I've already kicked Spidey to the back seat myself. It seems to be effective, and it makes more sense from a business standpoint -- Keep the customers happy and rake in the dough hand-over-fist. Nerfing toons only causes churn and customer service expenses.

Anyhow, even if/when they do nerf Mags, his abilities are still rock solid and the worth investment. If you end up being unhappy, you can always respec, or if they follow suit with Thorverine, take the rebate.

I think by the time they get around to the nerf hammer, this topic will be irrelevant to you anyway.

Yeah I think more than likely he will be a solid investment. Just pointing out the fact that nothing is guaranteed and he can't think he's going into anything 100% risk free.
  • I highly doubt they're going to make Mags worse than someone like IM40. Perhaps comparable. On comparitive levels, I'd still say Punisher+Mags is better than Punisher+IM40 on the basis of synergy.

Same argument can be made for Spidey in regards to OBW. If Spidey becomes weaker than OBW, I would, well I don't know really, but it would be ridiculous.

When it comes to Mags, I think that regardless of what nerfs will happen to him, his purple will remain a strong ability. If you consider the active purple abilities available for 3* , only GSBW and C. Mags are really viable (Loki is too situational, Daredevil is super narrow). Given how it is extremely unlikely that they nerf purple to the point of unusability, C. Mags will definitely have a spot on your team if only because of the purple.
