LR TIPS

The higher I got in position was 67 once, but it only lasted a few seconds, I got attacked so much I was in the 200 quickly.
I would like to get some hood and loki covers.
1. Get into the round as SOON as it begins. Even a minute after it starts can be too late if your MMR is high enough. This way you'll have a lot of seed teams to beat up on, minimizing the number of retaliations, and if tanking is your thing you can save one for once you've farmed some ISO to get your tank team out, making subsequent rounds easier.
2. Get any high-level villain ASAP. When Ragnarok still had his teeth, I couldn't place in his lightning round to get any covers for him because they were the most competitive. I focused on Doctor Doom instead, because his rounds weren't as competitive. Once I had Doom around 80-90, it became much easier for me to place in any other round, due to the buff. This is less effective now since the buff has dropped some, but still important.
3. Be prepared to go the whole 90 minutes - you can't really slack off at all. A healer like Spidey or OBW will make this possible to reduce health pack drain. If you don't have either of them or at least one high level villain, it's going to be nigh impossible.0 -

I agree with most of what you said (esp getting in the LR the minute it opens) but if you can't go the whole 90 minutes, don't even try to.
Let's say you can only go full bore for about 45 min before burning off your health packs, then you should:
1) Enter ASAP and beat all the easy seed teams
2) Wait til 45 minutes left, then go full bore
This strategy won't let you win the LR but you are more likely to at least get in diabolical range.0 -
Great advice above.
Leveling up buffed heroes that you do have is key and just play as many rounds as you can you never know when it won't be too competitive and you may get a good placement. Good luck to you.0 -
One other tip is identify which round you want to place in and tank the one (or two) rounds prior. There are topics on how to tank, but the general way is to run as high as you can on seeds (generally 100+) while saving an easy fight, put in your tank team (generally with bagman) and finish your run with a win against the weak (seed) team.0

I've got a tip - hit me please. 14 Juggernaut / 13 Yelena / 15 Hood. I need to tank super bad. ;_;0

Thanks for the tips. Looks like I'll be tanking in these until I can get my Magneto and Doom some more covers and levels. I'd really like to build a Hood, but without some outside help I don't really have the setup to do well. I'm thinking about attempting to go when Magneto's round shows up but I have a feeling my l70 Magneto/90 Spidey/108 Patch will be good but not good enough to get near the cover rewards.0

Is anyone else having problems getting attacked? i have 144 points, then i put out a team of BP level 18, Hood level 15 and Magneto level 14. In the last 30 minutes i havent been attacked omce.0

Another thing - the odd times (middle of the night, first thing in the morning) are a lot easier than the peak times (probably evening).*
* All times EST.0 -

My suggestion would be to drop the Spidey as he slows you down. LR are 90% about speed, 9% about not taking damage and 1% about healing. If you have OBW I would suggest putting her in instead. Which Mag is that? MN?
Of the LR villains, who do you already have the most covers for?0 -
My most covered villain is Classic Magneto at 4/2/2 (really hoping to see him come up as a PvP award again soon). Otherwise I just have Dr. Doom at 3/2. I do have OBW at 85 so I'll definitely make that switch.0

What level are they? Between those two you should have a decent chance at an off peak LR placement. I know Ive done it with far less (gotten covers 3 or 4 times, never a diabolical though).0 -

By "put out," you do mean "won my last match with," right? Otherwise no one is seeing them.0 -

Magneto is 70 once I get more covers for him, I'll get him 100+ asap. Otherwise Doom is just at 15. My other villains are obviously not worth mentioning, Rag and Hood are just at 1 cover a piece.0 -
I disagree that you need to play 90 mins. Only for top 2 finish. Takes me about 30 mins for a diabolical, which is all I go for. And really the last 5 mins is me staring at the leaderboards to make sure I'm in the correct spot of not being too high.
However, this is for speed evil. I've never actually done a hero lr yet because I didn't need any of the cards.0 -
Yep, sometimes its better to join late since you won't have to fend off the attacks you'd normally be receiving when you reach 300+ points.0
-
That first hood round was really not competitive at all. Hope the NA players stay inactive during work hours.0

I find that every LR is different so you don't have a reliable strategy until you actually tried unless you've an absolutely dominating team. Sometimes LR are surprisingly uncompetitive. Sometimes you can't even get past 200 rating. I'd probably play the first 30 minutes to get the seed teams and get a feel for how competitive this round is to decide whether to invest more effort or not.0

yeah I can't go 90 minutes, that's why I'm not looking for 1st place, I want to place high enough to get a cover or a diabolical token, my problem is I don't have a strong healer, my obw is 4/0/1 lvl 20 and my spidy has 4 blues but is lvl 50, he looks like an appetizer out there0 -
The single most important factor is to have high level buffed characters. Pretty obvious, and unfortunately a catch-22, as the easiest way to get them is to place in LRs, but it's near impossible to place in LRs without them.
To me the next best thing is to play at off-peak times. It can be hard to tell exactly when these are. Roughly speaking, something like midnight to 8am in the US seems to be a good opportunity. I think lunchtime/early afternoon US are also often good, especially the 2nd day.
Unlike some others, I've actually had a lot of luck playing the last 60-70 minutes or so. I got a quite a few top 25 or 50 villain LR finishes that way back in the day. It seemed like I just didn't get retaliated against nearly as much and I basically came from behind and swooped into good position just before the end. My thinking is I didn't have to play as many matches and I spent less time with a high score and a big target on my back. It could just be that I got stupidly lucky, but this worked several times for me.
I also think it's harder now than it was, though I've stopped trying to place since I have all the 3* covers except 1 red Hulk and the new characters. What I did was aim for 25-50 in unpopular LRs like Loki at odd times (I even lost matches intentionally sometimes to drop below 25th place). Eventually I got a couple red Rags covers from tokens and spent HP to get him up to 4 red covers. Then I made hay, got a 5th red cover and really made hay until I finished off the other villains. Rags isn't the wrecking ball he was, and I think there are more high level teams now, even if they don't really need the covers.0
