  • @user311, I just saw the pic of your bracket you posted on the Trial by combat thread: icon_e_surprised.gif

On the up side, it did seem to prevent anyone else in the bracket from pushing up the scores in any way.

The thing about it that was funny was that as soon as I started the event, GIPSY was already at the top. I was just like screw it - not even gonna try this event. Figured it was more of an effort for their alliance but still. Going to be tougher to get those top 5s. In the No Holds I saw THEKID and I just knew then there wasn't any way I going to win. Seeing that more and more now. Its a good deterrent to spending HP.

The top2 in my bracket was sub 1200 and number 10 was 715, so I think these brackets seem... almost fair. Top5 is quite an undertaking anyhow. I still end up in an occasional death bracket, but it's a lot rarer now.

Anyhow... Trial by Combat - "I have nothing BUT contempt for this court!" The Bears ranked 27 in casual fashion (that is, only one score above 1K) which means that the team shared the load. And we also handled ourselves pretty nicely in PVE, staying in top10 for some inexplicable reason.

This is it... the last week of Season 3. It's been bumpy, but we're sailing into port... Hold on, just a little longer. Thinking back to the beginning of the season, I hope some of us were able to take it a bit easier. We polished our recruiting a bit so our team is stronger now. And finally, we might make good on that promise to get AgCenturion that final Fury cover. Stare on!
  • With the exception of the Doom event for the She-Hulk covers, 800 has generally gotten me a pretty comfortable top 5. I think a lot depends on how you're sharded, though. I've stayed out of the insano brackets lately, for the most part.

I only need the yellow for the next one (though I need two of those), so I'm going to figure out whether to do a run-up the night before or try to skimp on the shields. I'll probably take the easy path and just go as high as I can tomorrow night and throw up a 24-hour.
  • Irritating Wednesday lunch finish is irritating (for me with my constraints and my time zone). Unsure what I'll do. I need everything _but_ yellow, if I remember right, so counting on you guys, top 25 does it.

However, I'm in really solid position for the season, I may want to push a bit, consolidate both my rank and the alliance's. Not a lot left. I'll be deciding tonight I suppose.
  • DD I must commend you for your unwavering faith in the CareBearStare philosophy. Lots of different people, but same mindset as before. We just play for the hell of it. We aren't influenced by greed, we just play because we want to play. Remember how I remarked about how the alliance is rock solid and always performs consistently in events that the community as a whole has no interest in? Dark Avengers tourney where the community couldn't be bothered playing Ares vs Ares mirror matchups for an entire weekend. Tourneys giving out Loki rewards. All of this before seasons, where people were actually taking events off instead of playing for empty points. Well, WE always kicked BUTT at those events because we always played solely for the sake of playing

And now I see you guys kicking BUTT at an event that's giving out the worst prize that I've ever seen in this game. Not for the prize, not for the glory, but... just for the hell of it. We play the way we want to play, prizes be damned

Player turnover is always sad, but have faith in the dear leader. He will never abandon the CareBearStare ideal. Player turnover is an end for some, but also a beginning for others

Well, I'm flattered, and a tad embarrassed... icon_redface.gif

Have you been around purinxa? I don't think I've run into you in my PVP nodes.

Morning all. Hope your PVP/PVE ing is going well. I was able to get in about 700 points morning (2nd in my bracket at the time) but saw you were already top 50. Great job. Hope it doesnt start to get too crazy in about 10 minutes. I've pretty much cashed it in on the PVE this round. Probably will run out at lunch and clear just the essential nodes and hop up to 800 in the PVP.

Personally I can't wait for this PvE sub to be over. Between the pairing of foes, who's boosted, and Sentry being the featured cover in the essential nodes this has been my least favorite PvE event ever. You can't really grind these nodes unless you don't use Sentry's abilities (which instantly handicaps you) or you're willing to burn through all you health packs and spend HP on more. This is the first event or sub that wasn't fun for me.

Breaking point for me this morning was 850. Get above that, get smacked. It's kind of low compared to recent tournaments. That's pretty much where I shielded. Should be good enough for the covers I want, even though I was hoping for higher for my season score. Oh well.

This is the first? This GUY! He's a PVE maestro.
  • Hey guys, sorry I've been pretty quiet past few days. Been busy with the holiday weekend, prepping for baby, and some work travel as well. I have still been trying to play as much as I can though.

I'm looking to get 1st in my bracket this PvP. Currently sitting at 300 points over #2 and shielded till the end.

For the PvE, I haven't put quite as much time into these subs as the last batch but I have found a somewhat decent strategy, and I regret not sharing it sooner (again, just been busy). I'm going in with Patch and Laken since they both have true healing and they can recover well enough from the damage of Sentry's abilities, and Sentry just has a ton of health so he can go a few rounds before he needs a health pack. My main strategy is to go in with a +3 green/black boost, match up to 16 green, trigger Sentry's World Rupture, let it tick down to 1 turn, they trigger Patch's Berserker Rage. At this point I have a metric **** load of strike tiles on the board between all the green matches and Laken and then Patch's BR so when World Rupture goes off the following turn it just about ALWAYS takes out the entire team. And the strike tiles don't count towards self damage so you won't take any more than normal, which ends up being like 500-600, not too bad.

Obviously sometimes things just go wrong, no plan is fool proof, but I've found this to work fairly consistently throughout this recent set of subs.

    STARE!

I couldn't catch up to you. I'm done with this PVP as well. Awesome job!

Cool. So I got up to 895 which was about 50 more than the 6th place guy. Probably lose that spot. Oh well. I just beat Marvel Puzzle Quest 2. Finally now I can play something else.

Nope, I love the game, but hate playing it if that makes any sense at all... Kinda like that Ghouls and Ghosts game. Loooove it, but don't ever EVER try to get me to play it unless you want a smashed up, broken TV

Base 10 is hard. In 'Murica, they like to count in sixteenths.

And 3. And 12. And 1760 for some unfathomable reason.
