I have been hammering the quick play battles pretty hard the last few days, had 7000 runes. So I decided to spend every one of them on 3 card packs. I was amazed got a rare I needed, a couple new uncommons, and a MYTHIC. I am not sure how good it is, would love some feedback. I do not play much green so not very good for me unless I am not interpreting the card properly.

  • It is.... useless.
It basically does nothing for 21 mana because when it pops, you lose the buff (which is fine) but not only that, you lose the creature if it suffered any damage. Completely unlike any other buff in the game.... for 21 mana.
  • I didn't even know that was a thing. That's ... horrendous. It might be balanced at 3 mana. Even then, I'm not sure I would play it. It requires activation and a single bounce spell cancels its effect.

How do overcost a card by EIGHTEEN mana?

From my other thread on mythic rare prices

This should be changed from a support to a spell and have its mana cost brought to 10. A 10 mana spell that allows you to reinforce target creature you control? Sign me up!
  • In most cases it's more like:

    **** I got a mythic

Yeah after reading what people have to say I should change the topic to **** I got a Mythic icon_e_smile.gif

Oh well.... At least I have one and maybe they will fix it next time they retune.

Yeah, I have one Mythic now, which is a bit overcosted but otherwise ok. Chandra's ignition. 19 to deal 6 damage to each creature opponent controls. Would feel more Mythic at 12 mana. Double the cost of Exquisite Firecraft (6) to deal damage to up to 3 creatures. As it is, if the opponent has 3 creatures out, 3 EF's would cost 18, and CI would cost 1 more than that, for the same effect. It's usable, but certainly not fantastic.

That feels very Mythic-y, though. It costs 19 mana, but it really has a chance to swing the game. I have the stupid 9/6 Green creature for 186 mana (or whatever). I realized that I was never happy to draw him so I took him out of my deck and it's been much better. With Chandra's Ignition in my deck, I would feel like I always had some slim chance at an out.

Are you talking that 9/6 creature with haste and hexproof? I faced that the other night and it completely owned me... I had no answer because my brawler plate did not come out....

I drew evolutionary leap out of a basic booster early on and just about creamed myself, I instantly changed my deck, threw in some fast mana, some big creatures and..... nothing, I was lucky to cast it or to even see it effects 1 in 10 games my win ratio fell from 90% to 70%. When it worked it was fun but that was hardly ever... what is the point of these cards if they are basically unusable... I threw it away and changed my deck back never to be seen again, until the new update used it in the Nissa battles where it comes on the field already cast and it still doesn't work....
I also have a 9/6 creature with haste and hexproof and use it every game it is great, no bounce can touch it, no nasty red spell that deals 6 damage can hurt it, yes it's susceptible to first strike and berserker and costs a lot but first strike has been basically non-existent until recently and with Nissa's power to add 20 green mana it comes out pretty easy. I love it's won me more tight games than any other card
  • Most Mythics are trash due to their mana costs.

    Good:

    Red
Avaricious Dragon 8/8 Attacker (Flying) [18 mana] - Whenever you draw a card, that card has it's cost reduced by 3.

    Blue
Disciple of the Ring 7/8 Attacker [20 mana] - Activate 5 : The first card your opponent controls loses 4 mana, Disciple of the Ring gains +4/+4 until the beginning of your next turn and the first creature with Defender or Reach your opponent controls is Disabled until the end of your turn.

Alhammarret's Archive [12 mana] - Whenever you would draw a card, you draw 2 card(s) instead. Whenever you would gain life, you gain 2x that much life instead.

Day's Undoing [6 mana] - Both players move all the cards from their hands to their libraries. The libraries are then shuffled. Both players draw 5 cards. All cards in your hand gain 3 mana.

    Green
Woodland Bellower 8/7 Attacker [20 mana] - When this creature enters the battlefield, move the next Green creature from your library to your hand. That creature gains 6 mana.

    Gaea's Revenge 9/6 Attacker (Haste & Hexproof) [23 mana].

    White
Hixus, Prison Warden [15 mana] if a creature your opponent control deals damage to you, that creature is disabled until this card leaves the field.

    Mediocre:

    Red
Pyromancer's Goggles [25 mana] - Activate 1: Move the next Spell from your library to your hand. That spell is free. (would be great, but that mana cost in a burn deck thats all about speed...)

    Blue
Dreadwaters [16 mana] Trap 5 Blue - The first card in your opponent’s hand is Destroyed.

    Green
Nissa's Revelation [19 mana] - Draw 5 cards. Gain 20 life. (Nissa already has tons of card draw. The life gain is good though. 19 is hard to justify considering how many ridiculous other cards Nissa has to be spending that 19 mana on)

    White
Archangel of Tithes 7/9 Attacker (Flying) [18 mana] - Whenever a creature your opponent controls attacks, gain 2 mana. (make no mistake, this card is only decent, not great. the mana gains are fairly small. since other creatures white has have first strike for way lower mana, it makes them generally better summons, especially against Blue when you are constantly getting bounced/mana cost inflated)

    Black
Infinite Obliteration [12 mana] - Destroy the first and last creature in your opponent's hand.

Demonic Pact [21 mana] - At the beginning of your turn, every creature your opponent controls takes 2 damage, your opponent takes 1 damage, your opponent's last card in hand is Destroyed and you draw 1 card. When this support is destroyed, you take 10 damage and the first 2 cards in your hand are Destroyed. (can be really good, can also lose you the game)

    Colorless
Hangarback Walker 8/8 Attacker [25 mana] - When you match 3 or more, summon a 1/1 Thopter with Flying. When this dies, summon 8 1/1 Thopters with Flying.

    Bad:

    Red
Molten Vortex [21 mana] - When you match 3 or more gems, deal 4 damage to your opponent.

Chandra's Ignition [19 mana] - Deals 6 damage to each creature your opponent controls on the battlefield.

    Green
Evolutionary Leap [21 mana] - Activate 1 Green: The first creature you control is Reinforced.

    White
Tragic Arrogance [25 mana] - Pick one creature you control and one creature your opponent controls then Destroy every other creature on the battlefield. (truly awful)

    Black
Erebos's Titan 8/8 Attacker [20 mana] - This creature does not take any damage while your opponent has no creatures on the battlefield. When this creature is destroyed, if you have at least 2 cards in your hand, destroy the first 2 cards in your hand and this creature is Returned to the battlefield. (you can summon more creatures that have higher aggregate x/x for significantly less mana. you can summon creatures with deathtouch, etc. plus on death you lose 2 cards that already have mana invested in them just to bring this card back? c'mon son. Black is already the most mana starved PW with the highest costs. having this card for 20 is harsh.)
  • The only mythic I have is Avaricious Dragon, and he's great.

Yeah that's rough; there is a red/green mythic that is 20 mana and summons an 8/8 creature that gets +1/+1 each time a red or green match is made, and that dragon feels much better.
  • Avaricious Dragon is solid. It lets you cast your burn spells quicker in a pinch, also it's an 8/8.

Exactly - it's cheaper AND it has a better power. In theory one big creature > lots of small creatures, especially when your field has a hard limit of 3, but lots of options is always > one thing, every time.

Yay me I guess... I got 8th place in the PvP event. I got a duplicate rare, but in my pack I got my 2nd Mythic.... again, seems like utter rubbish.....

Wow 24 mana for a spell that can pretty much do what a 6 mana red spell can do 9 times out of 10......

Sadly that may be the worst card in the game right now. icon_e_sad.gif Sorry!

This is by far the most OP Mythic in the game.

I'd still play it over this one:

You mean I get to deal damage every turn and give up the ability to play any other cards? All for the low, low cost of 21 mana? Sign me up! If only I could play this AND Evolutionary Leap! That deck would be awesome!

They actually changed that. Now it does 4 DAMAGE! WITH NO DRAWBACK!
...Except for the initial investment of more mana than the cost of an Avaricious Dragon. Not as horrible, though.
