Normally I like Heroics but the way these characters shaked out this time, my best characters are competing for the same blues, purples and greens. Patch is a no go, as the two characters you can use to flip his purple enemy strike tiles (Loki & Moonstone) are not usable by you AND they are in every hard node of this sub, sometimes together. That hurts RGroot too and his blue. My 4* Cyke still has no red and my 5/1/1 Iceman is too squishy to last until he can get Whiteout off (even with the blue stun)
I eventually ended up using QuickSilver/RGroot/OBW to clear the final nodes, just using RGroot as a tank, with just QS/OBW on the x-23 essential. I really like the new QS, his green really is much faster to pull off now, with his black keeping it feed (or building to Supersonic. While's only around 3K in damage, I can fire it 4 or 5 times a match. Not sure how much I'll use when he's not boosted, but he's fun here.
Now i just need a 2* Human torch.
Psylocke, Astonishing Wolverine, and Modern Black Widow are the reinforcements for the first sub, btw.0 -
Oh yay. Psylocke to the rescue.0

It's much nicer in theory than execution, isn't it?
Maybe by the time that movie comes out they'll have revised her to make her more useful, or at least introduced a 4* x-force version.0 -
7 node rewards.
This will make for a very interesting end of sub grind. Who knows if the nodes will stop giving points after clear 7.0 -
Of all the tiny kitty characters ti let us use. This is a ridiculous selection. Nit even sam wilson or doc oc to try and manage countdowns plus OBW is good but too squishy. This is about as much fun as the 326 level Loki in the Hard Gauntlet. Sort it out D30

Weird update to placement rewards: top reward is only for #1, rather than 1&2. Seems like a weird change.
Based on the official post for the reward update: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=36900
It seems like this was the plan all along, and the previous 1-2 rewards were errors.
As a consistently top 10 player, I am disappointed. I can play crazy grinds to get the covers, but there's always someone crazier than me. I've only placed first once in my 390 days of playing, but have reached 2nd four times.
Ah well.0 -
Sub 2 reinforcements:
Luke Cage
Ms Marvel
Storm
I have never been happier to see reinforcements. Champed Cage and Ms Marvel are awesome. Cage in particular will be so helpful in the health pack suck that is this event.0 -

good find pabasa. I missed that. It's a shame it's different, but I suppose not too much of an issue.0 -
I've really enjoyed this Heroic. It hasn't felt too difficult compared with previous Heroics but the new quick silver has been an absolute crutch for me in this event. I can see me using him a lot in PVE once I get him championed.
Also I just need to clear the final sub this lunch time and I can take a nice rest with my 25cp buying me another 4* (Fingers crossed for either Jean Blue or for another X-23). Nowhere near Doctor doom championed and I never reach top 10 so I'll bow out and sell any covers I get.
Also nice being able to grab the command points with certainty in each sub event unlike before with crazy RNG luck.0 -
This Heroic is an absolute slog. The character selection leaves a lot to be desired. Every game feels like 10 minutes. I'm barely at the halfway point to CP progression by the end of Sub 2 because I couldn't be bothered.0
-
ice and or 4cyke makes this one not too bad. if you don't have those guys, you're left with patch, grocket, dp, obw, mostorm. good characters, especially obw for pve, but not premium guys who will carry an event. sub 2 gets cage and he helps a ton.0
-
The dirt day was absolutely brutal in my opinion, but day 2 of this event has even fair and challenging enough to make you really think in order to limit the use of health packs. I picked up the 25 CP with about an hour to go in sub 3. Currently ranked 15th and I missed a clear.
Not bad0 -

Anyone else having serious difficulties with Carnage nodes? Not with Carnage himself, more so with Muscles spamming 400+ strike tiles as well as with Doc Oc.0

I respec'd my OBW for those so she was 5 Blue, delaying the countdowns and healing. Helped a little, while QS kept firing off fists of fury and supersonic. Used Groot to tank the damage (and X-23 did the same in her node).
Don't know how well that will work as the scaling picks up over the day, but I've hit the 25 CP's progression so I'm probably done with this anyways.0 -

I know not everyone has Nova but I was struggling with that until I tried QS/OBW/Nova. All you need from Nova is red and yellow covers to make a rainbow (and all useful skills) and you won't use his black over QS anyway. You want to collect blue as this will power up QS and get Anti-Gravity Device going. Once you have blue you want to spam QS black and green to whittle away at Carnage and get enough red and yellow in there to spam strikes from Nova. This pumps up QS's paltry damage and allows obw to double dip. Even with my Nova at 1/1/2 this worked really well. As a last resort you can send someone Airborne if they are about to wail on you, though it never got anywhere close to that for me.
Tl;dr: QS 3/5/5 , oBW 3/5/5 , Nova with at least one red and yellow.0 -
I got through with Spidey, Groot and Deadpool. Besides the level "Carnage Dominace" is one of the most annoying level in PvE-History (Countdown tiles -> Alien Instincts -> Countdown tiles -> Alien Instincts ..., it`s a nearly infinite loop).0
-
This Heroic made me realize 4* Cyclops and Mohawk Storm are a pretty effective combo. If you need more red AP, you use Cyclops' yellow. If you need teamup AP to supercharge his red, you use Storm's yellow. Don't think I'd ever play them together outside of a Heroic...0

TxMoose wrote:that node on a heroic essential is really tiny freaking kitty when we have nobody to deal with tiles - no drock, no jean, no bulls, no daredevil, no shulk, no antman, no moonie, no 4thor, no Elektra, no falcon, no squirrel, no thing. any of those could have been used to help but somehow none made the list on this one, so all you're left with is trying to either stun or overpower. and this is the node they put the cp into. thanks.
This is basically my feeling when people debate whether Heroics are good or evil. They're fine as long as the character selection is appropriate to the event. But they clearly don't put any thought into it at all, so it's down to the luck of the draw.0
