5* Progression - are command points the answer?

  • It doesn't seem like they're supposed to be a 'given' in terms of progression. As the above post says, surely 5*, for now at least, are a luxury item, given almost solely by chance? I don't see the problem with that. Maybe in a year's time you spread things a bit more, but the problem with making them more available is that they are too powerful for that, so then you'd probably have to nerf the hell out of them to unbreak the game?

I'll be honest. 5* have not been very impressive. The only thing different about them is that if you whale on iso to max them out to 450, their 3-match dmg will eventually kill the enemy team. A 350 buffed 4* team could probably handle a max 5* team.

I'll continue to grind for cps and legendary tokens only because I'm interested in collecting all covers in the game. My 5* will not go above 255, unless something drastically changes in pve/pvp events.

Yeah, they are quite bad. One can simply do 16k AoE damage for 9 AP and another one just 35k to a single target for 7 AP. The word is mediocre yeah, I have plenty of 4s that can do that. Also plenty of 4s that have 40k hitpoints when buffed...

The only thing bad thing is that they are not very fast, the faster one is probably SS, who is probably the less impressive. This is the only thing that limits their usefulness. But until more people have them, you don't need fast, because nobody is going to attack you.

For me CPs are just another way of getting Legendarys, not exactly what I thought they would be, I thought that with some work I would be able to buy a 5 cover every two months or so, but as they are right now, buying covers it is just for super whale Alliances.

The problem is the +7 to all alliance members. If you could just win the CPs playing things would be different and 5 cover would cost way less for sure.

You must be the only person who didn't play the node where SS toyed with jeanbuster/carnage...

At this point, the relevant question is whether this promise of "we're going to introduce a new feature for the elder game" is coming at "we're going to nerf CMag/Sentry" speed (almost a year) or "we're going to nerf Thor" speed (around a month).

    If

5*s are really meant to represent an end-game progression

    And

They are going to so vastly outshine 4*'s that a fully covered 5* can beat a full team of 4*s

    Then

Having a luck based system where people can obtain every legendary token physically possible and still not make any progress on their 5*s is ridiculous and unacceptable.

The ability to buy a 5* cover (that you already have 1 of) for the cost of 29 legendary tokens does nothing to fix this issue. Please fix this fast, devs.

For the love of god, this. The system throws veterans right out the window. My girlfriend has 4 5*s and 2 4*s (IW/XF), while I have 8 finished 4*s and have 0 5*s. This game is going to let her shoot ahead of me because I am unlucky and she is lucky? I play hardcore while she plays mostly casually and she comes ahead?

There needs to be a way veterans can obtain many more legendaries to balance this issue out.

I think its option three, we are going to buff everyone else (hood/loki/true healers not getting health buffs)

No they aren't the answer, but they also aren't meant to be the answer.

5*s are a luxury item in the current meta. You're not supposed to be facing maxed 5*s in PvP and you're not supposed to need maxed 5*s to compete.

They are still releasing 4* characters in droves, so it's not like people have nothing to collect or 'no further progression'.

Once 5* becomes actual progression they are going to be buffing 4*s to make it progression and not the ridiculous gap it is at the moment, and they will offer better ways to cover them.

You know, at the end of last season I thought the same as you. 5* were no big deal, and I could take my time on 4* before I stared spending ISO on 5*.

Then I saw some new alliance I hadn't seen before where most of the members had maxed 5*. Someone had two maxed Surfers and a couple of maxed OML's. Don't know how as I never saw anything like that last season, and I'm trying to fathom how much money people would have to pay to end up with 61 5* covers. (610 legendary tokens to get there with normal luck?)

At least in the past you could feed off the big alliances to hop to LT's. But if they're running max 5*'s? .....
