Tier list

Anybody care to help out with making a tier list? I know it's difficult to create one since people in general don't have every cover max leveled, but maybe we can make one together. There should be 4 tier lists, 1 tier list for every cover * tier. The tier list should not be PVE or PVP specific... simply how useful the character is, overall.

1 star Commons
S+ Storm, Black Widow (Modern Black Widow's stun is extremely useful for disabling single characters (aka "the problem") in uneven enemy teams, still useful even after you stop using 1* chars)
A Juggernaut, Spawn (derp) Venom, Ironman
B Hawkeye
C
D
??? (no clue) Yelena Belova

2 star Uncommon
S+ Black Widow Original
A Storm Classic, Thor, Wolverine
B Captain America (gave him a B because all of his powers can be optionally cascade effects instead. 3 yellow chosen protect tiles allows you to extra turn, and yeah getting back AP is great)
C Moonstone (situational for PVE)
D Bagman

?? (I don't know)- Bullseye, Hawkeye, Magneto, Daken, Ares

3 star Rare
S Spiderman
No clue.

4 star Legendary
No clue

Look in the character discussion forum where more comprehensive lists including abilities and max attributes already exist.

The outfit clearly. Do you want to have a rousing discussion about truth and justice?!! I'm game.

You may also want to check out this thread, where a bunch of people ranked all the characters, I averaged their rankings, and then wrote up a little blurb about each one.

A lot of the rankings are out of date now (hello, Ragnarok), but the changing nature of the game means that any attempt to rank characters or organize them into tiers will need to be updated over time. I'm planning on organizing an update later this month, once a few more balancing tweaks have been released.

That's a good thread. You should continue making them so I don't have to.

  • Spawn is playable in MPQ, you just need to buy the XBox 360 version.

Isn't the code down down up up down A + B to unlock him?

Relating to leaving out Patch, I feel Loki deserves an asterisk. He is terrible, unless he is paired with someone that sprays out 6 enemy strike tiles... then he becomes a very viable support character. My only other comment would be bumping up Ares and The Hulk both up 1 tier. List looks good as a whole though.

    Ops, now I've added Patch;)
@aussiemac: you're right but a character that could be a good support only for 1 character doesn't deserve a good rank in a general debate IMHO.

    Very valid point
  • Maybe not a good rank, but look at the rest of the Ds: they are no good in all situations. When do you want to play Moonstone? My best case for venom is someone that has very few levels and yet somehow has managed to get 4 spiderman covers.

If there is a case, other than major boosting, where you'd not be embarrassed by playing the character, IMO said character deserves a C.

2* Wolverine as an S over CStorm, Ares, and Thor sounds crazy to me. I'd put him at A or possibly even B.

Patch as a B is also crazy talk (easy S for me) and same for Hood and Hulk (both As). I'd probably bump BWGS down to B but I admit I probably underate her.
  • I feel like abilities that have tile placement, tile smashing, cascade causing features are very under rated by most people. That's hidden AP collection and damage that can add up. Not to mention the defensive aspect of destroying enemy countdown/strike tiles/shield tiles.

That's why I rate characters like Juggs, Magneto NOW, GSBW (even Loki) higher than most people would put them.
  • Dear TheHood,

I would like to formally thank you for posting your tier list in the official D3Publisher Marvel Puzzle Quest forums.
Many people have been insulting me and my inability to distinguish Spawn from Venom, or why I have ranked Captain America an A, but you did not.
You did exactly as the original poster asked. You did not discriminate to give help. You helped a fellow cover collector.

    Thank you.
