Best PVE Teams

Options
Most of the discussions about the most powerful characters are centered around pvp. As a player who primarily plays pve, I am interested in finding out what people consider to be the strong pve teams. Please reply with your teams and explain what nodes they work best on:

OML/SS/IF:
IF should be 3/5/5. Recommended at least 1 OML yellow and 1 SS blue. Neither 5* needs to be full covered or leveled. Team depends on IF attack tiles and match damage and takes advantage of true healing to allow multiple clears without health packs.
"This teams eats up "trivial" nodes in no time and if you have OML yellow - with almost no damage. ... Their match damage is sick and allows to beat the nodes in no time." - Magic

Fistbuster
IF/Hulkbuster/Luke Cage:
Cage can be substituted with any strong black user, Blade and XFW have been suggested as replacements. IF into Cage black and HB utilizes the off colors of blue and red effectively.

Winfinite
GSBW/SW/Prof X:
Without a doubt the best team for pve right now, and likely will be until one of the core pieces is nerfed. Nothing else comes close. PX must have 5 blue and as few yellow covers as possible, SW must have 5 blue, GSBW should be 5/3/5. Make sure you don't over level Xavier, as the team only works if purple is the team's strongest color, and his blue will win the tie if it is the same strength as either BW's or SW's purple. Be aware of any node that has Jean Grey, as this combo fails completely against her.
"The actual best PvE team. If you survive more than 3 turns, you usually win when SWs cd goes off. If you get a match 5 you win, if you make 11 purple ap you win." - mgallop

3* only

Goon Destroyer
LCap/Blade/Falcon:
The three best pve specialists on the same team. You can pretty much just shut your brain off and cruise through any goon node in the game with this team.

Daken/3Thor/Blade:
It is very effective vs goon teams and extremely awesome against waves because you have enough time to set up Blade's black and purple and goons allow you to stack up strike tokens. The biggest downside I have found with this team is that Daken is very often unplayable due to him being a Dark Reign antagonist. I have found plugging Nick Fury into his slot for blue to be very effective when he is unavailable.

Once again, please reply with what teams you consider to be good and why.

Edit: 2/17/16 added OML/SS/IF and Goon Destroyer, removed some teams, and eliminated the 1* and 2* sections.

    My teams:

    PX-GSBW-SW
The actual best PvE team. If you survive more that 3 turns, you usually win when SWs cd goes off. If you get a match 5 you win, if you make 11 purple ap you win.

    IF-HB-Hood
Luke Cage is also a decent 3rd, as is Cyke, you basically want a good yellow, but mostly using any red except HBs is foolish, because HB has the best red in the game.

    IF-Falcon-Blade
For killing trivial nodes while not paying attention.

Thanks. I have added PX/SW/GSBW to the OP.

Super Steve, im40 (2 yellow version), boosted character of choice (hood or blade work very well). Not the fastest team, but can easily beat any goon team or 1 main character with 2 goons even at level 395.

Can similarly run Steve, wanda, 2*mags - just be careful of cascading away your shield throws.

LThor/SW/Kamala. My go to team for any gauntlet nodes as the green gen is insane for spamming Embiggened Bash.

Winfinite (PX/GSBW/SW) is the best PvE team, but it does need to have a PX with 5 blue covers to keep it going. Otherwise the match-5s don't generate enough AP to make it self-sustaining. It's certainly my go-to for super-tough PvE nodes (and Galactus).

My go-to team for survival nodes has been KK/BP/She-Hulk. Panther is great for dropping strike tiles and a powerful AoE attack. Heck, survival nodes are long enough that even his blue can be useful. She-Hulk is there for her board shake and blue to steal any special tiles that may come along. Especially useful for those long ninja nodes in Enemy of the State. Try to steal some of those attack tiles from the dying ninjas. Not only will it save you a lot of health over the course of the fight, but killing ninjas with attack tiles doesn't trigger their death ability. So that keeps new tiles from being created. Kamala of course has a great AoE attack, a pretty good green generator, and can heal you a bunch over a long, drawn-out fight.

Some of my favorites (beyond the one's mentioned)
    Thor/Blade/Grocket
    Switch/Fury/Hood is another
    4Thor/3Storm/Kamala
    Patch/Loki/Panther
    Xforce/3Mags/Loki

All except Fury are rainbow, all do significant damage once rolling.

I don't have usable things like Thing, JG, Iceman, or I'm certain they'd be in there too.

My favorite lately (especially for the current EOTS) is

    BP/Vision/IF

In that configuration, vision tanks 4 colors giving the most value to his blue. You have two strong AOE's, two strong Strike tile generators (my IF is 553) a Black accelerator to speed up BP and passive attack tile to benefit from the strike tiles.

    It's my favorite wave team.

In the recent wave nodes I've enjoyed playing 3* BE, doc ock plus other (I used colossus but anyone with red and yellow would work). I may be a masochist but when this team gets going it's a bit of a monster. Match enemy special tiles for doc to generate attack tiles, use BE purple as a cheap finisher and you spam the board with strikes. After you've downed a few ninjas you're doing 1k+ each turn in match damage and again in attack tile damage and the board fills with special tiles so there are fewer places for CDs to go.

It takes a little while to get going and isn't particularly fast or efficient but I'm finding it to be lots of fun. Give it a try, you may end up a convert.

It's very fun. Especially when the 3rd in your team is Carnage. Not big on saving health packs, but very fun to play. And with Carnage, you don't have to worry about the opponent not having any special tiles to get things going.

For this EotS I find Vision / Blade / Falcon to be very effective. Getting Blade's black out lets you steal a ton of red/black/purple, I usually try to get Falcon's purple out for some protect tiles to counter Turn to Smoke. Collect 5 blue to get Falcon's passive going but don't bother using Vision's ability until I'm ready to red spam Wolverine down.

This is amazing advice! I noticed that sometimes the goon tiles didn't activate, but had not realized that was why yet.

My prior best anti-goon squad was Scarlet Witch, GSBW, and Jean, but I've discovered an even better combination that works on any node. The Witch and Jean are the same, but add Cyclops (4*). Make sure levels have Witch's purple as strongest color, and you have both Cyclops and Witch accelerating Jean's engine of destruction. And if something big pops up (say, a new wave with a vastly overleveled Wolverine), just pop him with Cyclops' red and keep the party rolling.

Another one I've used for waves is Daken, Fist, Blade (I call it Team Red Strike). Even with Daken sub-optimally covered (5-3-5) and Blade badly undercovered (0-1-5), they just mow down ninjas.

I haven't used it in a while, but 4hor, Doom, Fist make a good team for tough nodes.

most all of mine are all gonna involve witch:

goon team: witch/3cap/mnmags - given a few turns this team can stay ahead of any goon team. can also sub falcon for witch, but I think witch is better.

goon team: witch/gsbw/falcon - more puzzlish goon team that I really enjoy. falcon provides just enough cd control to let the girls get their cascades and board destroying going.

any team: witch/daken/blade - can eat through a lot

one of the 'normal' nodes usually gets hulk/patch/loki - guaranteed self damage until you decide to flip the strikes with loki - helps keep scaling in check (that's what I tell myself anyway).

    Mine are:
    - Thor + LazyCap + Hood (a classic)
    - Patch 5/3/5 + DD 5/3/5 or 3/5/5 + Cyclops 3/5/5 (for waves it's really fun)
    - Patch + She-Hulk + Blue generator
    - X-Force + Hood + Magneto
    - 4Thor + Kamala + Mohawk/Loki

for more developed rosters, for 2 goons + characters nodes = witch/jean+red-blue-black-yellow damage dealer. I've been cycling through mags, Cyclops, SS, 4thor, imhb, etc. for nodes with 3 goons, substitute 3falcon in for the damage dealer. all becomes somewhat trivial after a while.

    I will add my 50 spideycoin.png

I have started using my Old Man Logan and Silver Surger (both lvl 255, both with two covers each - so nothing special) along with Iron Fist. This teams eats up "trivial" nodes in no time and if you have OML yellow - with almost no damage. I am still looking for a better running partner than IF (his tiles slow down the trivial fight with animation but speed up with damage). Their match damage is sick and allows to beat the nodes in no time.

I have tested the OML (0-1-1 in covers) in essentials and he works there as well tanking many colors and is sustainable. Just add somebody like KK and you are good to fly.

For other nodes - PX, Switch and GSBW is the team of choice. You care nothing for potential scaling and the matches are over fast.

I DDQ (the final node) I use Switch, KK and Deadpool. This team is pretty reliable and gives me the Deadpool points everyday (for the next gauntlet).

I also use OML + SS to charge through seed teams and trivial nodes. IF is the logical choice to speed up damage output, but if you're looking for an alternative, 3* Bullseye can end things quickly if you can down an opponent with him.
  • For quite some time now, my go-to PVE goon team has been:

    Blade (355)
    CMags (355)
    Falcon (553)

-In the beginning try to leave as many Red tiles on the board to accelerate Blade's Thirst.

-Prioritize blue to get Redwing going to kill CD tiles. Don't use CMags Projectiles until you have enough blue to ensure Redwing still is active (or if you're in a serious jam, then let those projectiles fly).

-Aim for purple tiles next to activate Blade's KYEC attacks. If possible wait until the board has a decent amount of strike tiles to strengthen the damage of KYEC's attack tiles. Also try to ensure any available purple tiles are few and far between, so your attack tiles aren't matched away.

-Wait for yellow matches until you have strike/attack tiles on the board. This way Falcon keeps strengthening them each match.

-Cast Magneto's Coercive Field for protection (although I try to hold off on doing this, as Falcon only strengthens 3 tiles per yellow match, and I'd rather have my offensive tiles get the boost).

-Blade's black offer marginal damage, but he'll steal 2 AP per turn. I try to wait until he steals a colour I need (the description will notify you of which colour will be stolen, it all depends on the enemy you are facing).

-Magento's Polarizing Force is a last resort for me, as at this point I'm reluctant to shake up my carefully constructed board of death... However, if you're in need of heavy damage or a board shake, then show 'em what you got and attack.

This team is a little slow to start, but once they get going they are insanely effective (only drawback is no active green power, however Blade still owns green so you get match damage, but once you get going you won't miss green at all).

This trio is best utilized for wave nodes, as the 3rd and 4th waves are wiped out in 1-2 turns per goon. It's a lot of fun. I hope this helps!
