I'm just wondering if anyone else has found themselves in the same situation I'm in. I have over 60K in ISO and nothing to spend it on because I can't get covers. I've rarely been able to win covers because of the lack of strong characters due to the lack of strong character covers. I know I could just drop a few hundred dollars toget those covers but I refuse to spend money on this game because it changes so often that what you spent money on today may be worthless tomorrow. That's besides the fact that I'm not going to drop hundreds of dollars on a mobile puzzle quest game.

So is anyone else just sitting on a massive pile of ISO with nothing to do? Have I reached the end of the free to play portion of the game?

No, and you're possibly unique in having more ISO than you know what to do with. Why are you having trouble winning covers you want? You didn't say whether you're upgrading 2*s, transitioning to 3* or what.

If all else fails jump on as many LRs as you can. Recruit tokens fall out of them, and they'll eventually give you more covers.

depends what way your team looks? who is your strongest and what covers do you need?

What's your roster like? Even with maxed 2* chars you should be able to place in the top15 or top45 of most tournaments. Also make sure you're placing in the PvE events. Both ways will help you net 3* covers to progress.

My roster is:

Iron Man *** - Maxed
Thor ** - Maxed
Wolverine ** - Maxed
Daken ** - Maxed
Storm ** - Maxed
Iron Man * - Maxed
Juggernaut * - Maxed
Captain America ** - Maxed in covers, but not levels, could work on next I suppose but haven't seen the point

Then the roster becomes *** characters with 2-3 covers (total, not for each power) and characters like Bag-Man.

If I get a 1 star recruit token it will be for a character that is already maxed in covers (and possibly levels). Characters like Black WIdow *, Iron Man *, you all know the drill.

2 star recruit tokens gives one of the characters listed above (vast majority of the time it's Captain America, easily over 50%)

I've had moments where I have had nothing to spend ISO on. But as i won more rewards (heroic tokens) I was able to start to acquire new characters to level up.

They desperately need to rework the SHiELD tourney prize structure to allow people like you to win rewards they can use.

As far as what covers I need, the following characters seem playable and I've listed what I have:

Ragnarok *** - (1/1) (not sure if he's still good after nerf)
Spider-Man *** - (1/1/1)
Hulk *** - (3/0/0)
Magneto *** - (1/0/1)
Doctor Doom *** - (1/0)
Dardevil - I have 0
Punisher - I have 0

I can win games, but can't rank high enough to get worthwhile prizes. I can win more ISO and covers I already have, but certainly can't advance. That roster doesn't do well in lightning rounds which give out 3 star characters at the top eschelon and doesn't do well in many of the recent story/multi day events because I'm not allowed to play in the high level point rounds ("you need character X to play in this event").

Just have to participate in both PvP and PvE events. Getting top45 or higher is a guaranteed 3*, and during hulk and patch PvE events they were giving out lots of 3* covers for the sub events too.

Rubberbanding can help a ton in the PvE events, and for PvP you have to plan when to push and when to shield.

Her heal makes it a lot easier to compete in a lot of the PvP's without the need for using health packs or wasting time healing.
I struggle with Lightning Rounds too

But you should definitely be able to get a decent place in PvP's with that kind of roster.
Enough to get you at least 1 3* cover placement rewards.

When the Spidey mags nerf, I mean rebalance, rain down; she'll be the best utility character in the game. She will be on every single team in the mid range. Denying AP is crucial against high health 3*. Also, Heroic packs are giving out Hulk, Hood, Rags, OBW, andMags covers like crazy.

On another not; and this is personal, Cap is horrible. Outside of PVE, he's absolutely useless.

Definitely. You've overlooked a very strong character - she may not seem great on offense due to her lack of nukes, but she's terrifying on defense. Having her on offense means you'll be playing longer, too (because of the heals), and therefore fighting more matches, and rising higher.
You should be able to win 3* covers with maxed characters. I can win 3* covers, and none of my 2* characters are anywhere close to maxed.

It's pretty much like any game - if what you're currently trying isn't working, try something else. Try OBW.

Ash ketchem never become the very best like no one ever was by giving up just because he had a bunch of pokeballs but no pokemon. You know what he did? He threw his pokeballs as many times as necessary to bludgeon that first pikachu into unconsciousness before stuffing it into one of those pokeballs...that's what he did...like a MASTER. you know why Gary sucked other than just his name or demeanor? He had it handed to him. Nobody likes a quitter or a spoiled Oak.

That said, you shouldn't be having issues getting top 45 really with your team...especially if u are willing to drop a shield every once in a while and try to only attack players with higher point totals than you (to limit the # of retaliation wars). I still don't know hiw you have 60k saved up and DON'T have covers lol. Only reason I have 75k ISO right now is because of the inbound nerfs to spidey and magneto (since my current team is magneto + ??? and I tend to use spidey because he doesn't depend on his level for usefulness + event required character.) and the possibility of xforce wolvie becoming a powerhouse possibly.

That said, part of me hopes xforce doesn't end up good. Looking at other ppl's rosters I realize there are loooots if ppl with the ability to make xforce between 160-200 if they have the ISO available. A good character with healing potential 9k+ hp, strike tiles, and a heavy damage red sounds pretty annoying to face lol.

Yep, that sounds all too strange, we had tournaments providing strong characters (ares, hulk, punisher). A fair set of covers can be gathered in prologue and there's huge supply of gray tokens to drop a ton of ** covers. Then there are the progressions too, and reaching the ** prizes range in tournaments should not be a big problem even with just the * IM/storm/bw team.

Hm, with that you should absolutely no problem winning *** covers (to my taste too much iso used on questionable **s but you miss the key player OBW completely...).

I'd say 75% of players in the 6-15 range (2 *** covers) have way weaker rosters than yours.
