Created new topic with prizes, please migrate to that one.

Already posted screenshots of the prizes.
  • The concept of a paid tournament is awesome. Kinda like a poker site, and the competition will be fiercer since no one wants their investment to go bad.

I wouldn't get in an elite tournament with the state of PvP in MPQ right now though. I can't afford the shields needed to do well in one of these things.

For those that did the first ELITE tourney, how did it compare in difficulty to LR? If you place top 50 in LR is it feasible to expect to place top 50 in this??

This is a totally different animal, but if you do top 50 in LR you should at least break even

I don't think it's designed for the casual player. I know people have been clamoring for stuff like that for a while. 300 HP for a heroic token and 500 iso is not bad, considering a heroic token is normally 300 HP anyway.
Touch disingenuous casting it like that, since no one in their right mind buys a heroic for more than 100HP, and even that's arguable. Agree, though, that there is no rip-off. At the worst placement tier you're still getting a not unreasonable return on the entry fee, and you'll gain ISO participating. They're not charging you HP to log on. If you don't think the event is for you, don't register.

I don't think it's even about getting people to spend money, although it might do that, so much as sucking HP out of the economy. Similar, but not quite the same. And the entry fee is nothing compared to the 3000HP apiece the top 10 will spend turtling and poking.

If it wasn't for the bug I ran into in Avengers Elite, my spend on shields+entry would have been around 2100-2200 HP. Given that first for this one also carries a 2500HP prize and 2-3 gets 2000HP, it pays for itself if you secure one of those spots. Plus, the ISO and HP you'll gain from unneeded covers. The 25000 ISO prize is a nice bonus, too! If it had been the same 10K HP prize as Avengers Elite, I would have definitely sat this one out. These prizes are making me want to play again - I need 2 green covers for IW, and I'm 3/3/2 with 4* Wolvie, which makes this enticing.

I'm of 2 minds about playing this one. I don't want to be perceived as greedy, but I did give away my plan for the last run, so it will be a harder run for me this time. With no roster restrictions, I'm definitely at a disadvantage compared to Avengers given that I don't have a playable Mags (I predict alot of people will be running him in the top tiers). Only 1st-3rd makes a difference for my roster though, so it's a much bigger gamble.

Edit: Ok, I see Nemek in there - guess it's once more unto the breach! icon_e_smile.gif

    It is on:)
  • The reward is actually not unreasonable since Iso8 is the huge limiting factor at the high end, but it's probably more effort than I'm willing to put in. Like walkyoupath says, you probably need a high level Magneto to be competitive or at least one with maxed blue. I don't see any team possibly withstanding Patch + Magneto max blue (and max red would be total overkill) defensively so with that in mind, I don't like my chances in this tournament and will probably forgo it.

The funny thing about these tournament though is that the more people you can discourage from entering, the better your odds are. You don't have to place #1 to get your money back, and a discouraged opponent is one you'd never have to face. It'd be nice if they show the total number of players doing this. It'd give you an idea of whether you should participate, and the only way it'd be bad for D3 is if too many people participated (if you see 50K guys in there, you probably wouldn't enter) since a small number incentivizes people to join.
  • Top 3 is probably too ambitious for my team, but I plan on making a hard run at top 10.

15K iso plus all the iso earned on the way up will be well worth the entry fee/shield costs.
  • With the lower HP rewarded vs the last Elite tourney, curious to see if the shielding/de-shielding is as fast as furious down the stretch... I had to break several times in the last hour to preserve top 10 finish, but not sure I would have been so loose with the HP if I knew I wasn't getting 2500 in rewards.

I reallllly just entered early to beat up on some seed teams. Not sure yet if I'll be making a serious run. Getting all colors for all characters is insane! Shields are 50% more this time around, so it's a tad more expensive, too. I also think a high level Mags is going to be almost required, and I definitely don't have one of those.
  • The defensive strategy Walkyourpath did on the first tournament isn't going to work this time, because Magneto + Patch can shred any defense trivially. You wouldn't really even need to stun, but of course you can always bring along Spiderman just to be safe.
  • Nice touch calling out the previous winner on the main screen. Walkyourpath is famous now, grats!!!
