More value for your money

I agree with everyone that prices for the ISO and Hero Points definitely needs to be rethought.

I understand to some degree that offering 100,000 ISO for 1 dollar isn't going to work either but I am sure there could be more of a balance.

I have spent money on the game, not a lot but some. I would spend more if I could see more value.

Not sure how the prices were arrived at but it might be time to take another look and see if it could be improved for everyone. I am sure people spend a lot of money on the game as it is, and since we don't have access to those numbers it may seem that the income from the game with the current prices is good. Maybe as a test you could do some different pricing and see the results. Since I have been playing I have only seen 1 sale.

I'll leave you with a bit of advice to ponder as you rework the pricing strategy.

You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin them once....

Just wondering if people WOULD spend money if they BALANCED the pricing for ISO and Hero Points. Would you buy?

  • The HP prices are pretty in line with what I would expect them to look like. The ISO prices, however, are almost hilarious. I do not know the price point at which I would be willing to purchase ISO but it is certainly nowhere near the current levels.
  • If the ISO prices were properly funbalanced I would likely buy some occasionaly. I work a lot of overtime so $20 here or there isn't going to kill me.
  • I've bought quite a bit of HP, but I wouldn't buy Iso if it was double the value.

I don't know if they can reduce the prices in fear of the whales complaining that they spent infinite $ on iso. What they can do is introduce an iso booster than gave 50% more iso for an hour or something and offer that at low prices. I would definitely consider getting one of those.

How are the HP prices in line? 1250 points for a skill level, when another game with the same licence sells the same characters with higher production value requirements for $9.50.

Interestingly though, the Iso value *has* been doubled compared to when we launched.
  • You buy HP not Iso. PVE gives plenty of Iso. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Makes me shudder at what you guys thought was reasonable at launch.

I wonder if there's some technical limitation that's preventing them from doing this.

I wasn't around when it launched. I look at the current value and there is no way I'd spend money on it. It's over $4 a level buying Iso for 100+ characters.
  • I think the idea people come across still is that you can actually earn ISO even at a rate of 20iso per match whereas HP is much much much harder to come by.

If they threw in a third currency that traded HP for like....slot gems (think diablo) then omb (oh my buddah), we may have to call in the goon squad to stop the riot.
.....although....if that third currency did something absolutely remarkable...like allow you to replay the original story missions and collect the rewards...i would buy it.
  • Yeah, I can raise a 4 star level character from level 1 power to level 2 for the low low cost of around 13 dollars. All I gotta do is skip lunch and dinner and i can afford to raise Invisible womans blue power by 1. I'm not even taking into account the increasing costs per level. Is eating less important than buying 1 cover to make a character more useable? I'm already thanking the random number generator that it gave me an IW cover.
  • I've spoken on this topic a lot recently but honestly, whilst I'd very probably buy most of my ISO I'd love to see some changes made to the game so that ISO was awarded for playing. A few things off the top of my head:

    a) Get rid of the 70 ISO reward altogether. It's damn insulting and utterly useless. 140 should be the minimum for a victory.

    b) Increase the sell price of covers - a standard token costs 500 ISO and it sells for 100. Move this to 250 for a 1* 500 for a 2* and 750 for a 3* and we're cooking with gas. Also makes the tournaments where you have all the prize covers a bit more interesting.

    c) A bonus streak for not skipping fights. Only stays valid if you start the next match within a certain period of finishing your last and rewards you for taking on all comers. it's beautiful because you're essentially swapping ISO for placements as you'll clock up a thousand retaliations. Also allows players who can't hit the top spots or play at the optimal times to walk away with something substantial for their playtime.

    b) especially instantly puts so much more ISO to the game it's unreal.

Our previous pricing was well in line with what soft currency (relatively easily earned in-game) goes for and purchases in other similar games. Most games intend the soft currency purchases to be somewhat expensive quick boosts as opposed to being a way to simply pay to not play.

How much Iso would it cost to level a 3* to max? I bet you it's north of 52,000 Iso. Are you telling me a maxed 3* is worth over $100?

I like a and c, but I don't really think you need to encourage people to join tournaments for throwaway rewards. Having a few of the top end players sit out or play a bit less competitively opens up the placement rewards for players who are going to use them.

No worries though, it's all well in line with other games apparantly.

Pretty sure they're referring to the cash->HP ratio, not the HP->cards/etc ratio. Out of curiosity, what game are you referring to? (Only game I can think of might be MarveL: WoH, but unless something's changed I don't think you can ever directly buy the card you need).

My instincts on how coding and programming works says it's unlikely, but I would be FAR more concerned about balance: An ISO Booster seems counter intuitive, as the amount of ISO a player can gain in an hour/two hours/however long is drastically different based on too many factors. Have you finished the Prologue completely? Is it PvP or PvE? Which do you perform better in? Etc.

It's not a bad idea, but I think it would be far far too useless to a considerable majority (who aren't getting an ISO intake besides Tournament rewards, grinding 20/mission, and PvP wins).

So a 3* maxed card is worth over $300? ****, yeah those prices are good.

Yeah actually, with the way the game works now, I kind of appreciate the fact that people aren't buying ISO.
That said, I'm playing over steam so don't get all these facebook gifts and bonuses mobile users get... How much extra stuff can you make via facebook social?
