This should have been a really easy 1k, despite the fact that I had to to start quite late (only 4 hours left in my slice). I managed to get up to 886 with a decent number of health packs and was all set to finish my climb to 1k without spending any HP at all.

Then I lost two mirror matches (dd/kk/cmags) in a row when the board denied me red, blue, purple, and green, right up until the enemy cast ambush, at which point I had to make a red match at it was quite literally the only match on the board. Just terrible terrible luck.

Oh well, I thought. It happens some times, so I managed to win one more match, and then threw up a shield back at 886. But there was some server lag, so when I actually got my shield up, I had already been hit for 50 points and was down in the 830s.

Well, that sucks I thought, I will have to do 3-4 matches instead of 2-3 when I climb up to 1k in 40 minutes or so. My luck even seemed to be looking up as I found a couple of 60 point nodes.

But then I started my final climb. won the first match. yay! back up to 900. Then the second match was a gold-plated 75 points against someone in kick azz jedi. My dd/kk/cmags (with iso ap boosts) against their fistbuster. Everything went great. I got lots of blue early that let me down iron fist. And then some purple that let me clear out his attack tile and fire off an embiggened bash. ai's imhb and dd are down to 2-2.5 k each and I have 9 green ap and a tempting green match on the board, with just one ai turn between me and victory.

Ai gets a cascade that gives them 14 red ap and 6 purple ap. my green match is still on the board, but kk can't soak up a repulsor punch with that much red. So I have to sacrifice dd. I will get them next turn I think. But the ai's next turn gives them a cascade for 12 black ap and at least 4 more purple. So I make the green match, and then IMHB casts overdrive, and dd casts radar sense (blowing up some lingering protect tiles that I had used to overwrite an ambush trap earlier). That wipes out kk. so now I have 12 useless green ap, 10 red ap, but few teamups on the board, and no blue. long story short, cmags didn't make it.

That only lost me 7 points. but it also made me try two more matches instead of just one. and of course I was hit on the second match. forcing me to shield AGAIN and wait to clear some retals before trying one last hop for 1k.

So this 4* thor blue that should have been simple instead cost me almost 500HP (in shields and healthpacks), plus several periods of acute hypertension.

At least you got it. I was shielded at 941 with 12 minutes left, lined up two matches in the forties, and finished the second one with two minutes left, to find I had been dinged for -61. No blue Thor for me

I have had very similar experiences in the past (never getting above 999 for a over I really needed do to repeated back luck slowing down my "one last match") and it really sucks. my condolences. . .

The end of the event is a feeding frenzy. You are almost guaranteed to be hit if you unshield then. You might be able to squeeze one game in in the last five minutes, but unshielding with 10 minutes left is just begging to be hit, unfortunately.

really thought mags/panther would be stronger than they were. was hoping for 1K but didn't work out this time. wish my kamala was ready, need more green for her.

The problem is that team doesn't self-accelerate like Khan.

I found that if/bp was about as good as kk/cmags. It has a bit less health, but also has rainbow coverage and accelerates black even faster than kk.

my panther is maxed but not optimal at 4/5/4, so that didn't help either. might try fist/bp in the vision event.
