Just curious as to how long it has taken people to get their first 4* to 13 covers? (I'm getting kinda frustrated here)

I'm currently on day 638, and I finally attained a max-covered 4-star (5/3/5 Invisible Woman) about a month ago. So... 600 days or so for me? Granted, even though I am a long-time player, I am not a hard-core player - 650 in PvP is usually good enough for me, with the occasional push to 800 if it's a three-star I need. Only once have I ever made it to 1000 in PvP, when I decided that yes I really did want that Hulkbuster cover.

On day 433 now, got my first 4* fully covered about 2 seasons ago, also a 5/3/5 Invisible Woman. In fact I could have had her at 10/3/10 by now. Just had Nick join her by end of last season at 3/5/5 from daily rewards. XForce is at 12, Elektra, Dino and Starwho? are at 11 each. Unfortunately those that really matter (Buster and Prof) are in a pretty pathetic state.

I bought several covers for my xforce around day 200-something (bought him to 11 covers and then finished him from there with prog rewards). It sucked to drop a fair bit of my saved-up HP stash on him about 6 weeks before he was nerfed. But it was also fun to see just how dominant he was (since I had missed out on Rags, Spidey, cMags, and Sentry in their days of dominance). I probably won't spend HP on 4*s again any time soon.

As for 4*s built entirely from rewards and token pulls, I have none. The best I can do is:

    Kingpin @ 2/3/4
    Fury @ 4/2/4
    Elektra @ 5/3/2
    IMHB @ 5/4/2

So it will still be a month or two before those characters rotate back around to 1k rewards and I can finish them (barring a lucky token pull).
  • Took me probably about three months after I started playing, but this was when there was only two 4* stars, xforce and invisible woman... I was also very competitve in PvE events frequently finishing in the top 2. And because of the low number of 4* it meant those two characters cycled very fast between events.

Even when they introduced Nick Fury into the rewards that didn't take too long but I did buy two ranks in his purple once I finally got that cover, had maxed out his blue and yellow a long time before I finally got his purple again that took around 2-3 months.

4Thor when she was introduced I got a lot of HP back from the allience roster slot refund, so I wouldn't count that in my estimations over how long it takes to fully cover her.

When Electra came out I got 4 of her covers from the pve event, forgot how long ago that was, but she's been stuck at 224 for a long time now. A year maybe? By that point I pretty much stopped aiming for top 2 as the 2 hour refresh on the nodes were absolutely killing me back then.

The thing is if you really want to max cover 4 stars without buying them outright, the easiest route is via the verses events and hit the 1000 and 1300 points progression. You will probably have to spend 50-1000 hero points to do it though due to shielding costs and again will depend whether you can avoid getting hit during your hops.. Coming top 2 in story events is no where as efficient and also depends whether you got put into a competitive bracket or not, and that can be all down to luck!

Ever since Hulkbuster came out, I only got three of his covers, two came from the PvE story event and one from Guantlet, not seen a cover since...

Pretty much I don't expect to cover any of the new 4* anywhere as close as the early ones.

I started playing last June, and I cover maxed X-Force (who is still the only 4* I have more than 11 covers for) in April.

Like skydivearcher, I started playing in the early days when the only 4*s were Xforce and later Invisible Woman, and they were both pretty easy to get both in events and in tokens (the 4* drop rate in standard tokens was really good back then, for some reason).

Of the newer 4*s, I maxed both Prof X and Hulkbuster last week, so those took 5 and 4 months to build. For HB I used some of my HP stash to get his last cover (he really needs that 5th red to be effective), but Prof X I got purely from event rewards and 2 or 3 covers from token drops. My Kingpin is only one cover shy of 13 as well, although I'd like to respec him.

Because I took a break from the game, I missed the anniversary and the releases of Fury, Thoress, Elektra and Star-Lord, so other than Fury (whose purple is now up for the daily reward for me soon) I only have 5 or 6 covers each for those. Doing well in 4* release PvE's really helps to speed things up.

It's day 407 for me, and as soon as I get to 1k in the Lord of Thunder PvP, then I'll have a fully covered XForce. IW has 9 covers, and everyone else has 8 or less.
  • Thanks guys!
  • The answer is probably going to change a lot now. When people started a year or 2 ago, 4 stars were not common. Now, it appears they clearly are going for some sort of 4 / 3 / 2 star separate sub tournaments which is fine by me.

By that notion, covers for 4 stars should be more common, as are the 4 star pantheon of characters. I see more buffed 4 star characters than I ever have.

For me it took me probably 18 months with some luck and some money. Then I learned my lesson watching XF get nerfed.

Either way getting a 4 star character to full level requires an **** load of iso on top of your covers. This equates to time, money, and perhaps a lucky team arrangement.

Given, logically at some point the PVP matchmaking should be able to segregate by stars, and more importantly there is a history of capricious character "adjustments," the investment in 4 star characters just isn't there for me.

More 4 star covers will actually make it harder. cycles will get longer and certain colors will be favored, just like 3 stars.
  • I've actually had terrible luck, Fury is the closest thing I have to full at 1/4/4 and I got 2 when he first appeared form the PVP game (i was still new then so i was able to get top something at the time) and won a couple later on in the games. as for the others no suck luck. I guess I don't grind PVE as much and only now become decent in pvp (so been a year or so)

But having said that i think i sold enough Invisible woman to have her full

Day 426 for me, and I don't have one maxed yet. The most I have on any one 4* is X-Force with 8 covers.

380 days to get my X-Force to 270; got the 13th cover on day 371. I would guess it's getting easier for lower-level players to get some 4* characters, but I think the biggest acceleration is coming to high level PVP players. With the 1K reward now much easier for maxed 3* rosters to get, the 4* transition is going way faster than it used to.
