If you don't think that's EXACTLY and LITERALLY what golf is, sorry, can't help you...

Golf still has a score, and you win by having the best score. Your competition is against the other players. You don't beat the course to get a trophy.

As for the 'they don't call it PvE, they call them "story events"', yeah, you're right. That's fair. They're only tabbed in-game as PvP...I mean "Versus"...and not-PvP...I mean "Story". Yeah. Lest we not forget that The Gauntlet and DDP, which are completely devoid of 'story' to be "story events", are totally not stored in the "Story" tab. Hmmmm....

"Story Event" is totally not fancy dressing to make it sound cool. Not spin at all. icon_e_ugeek.gif

Sometimes golf is also Player versus Windmill.

    Or Player versus Clown Head.

That windmill gets me every time, never could time those blasted rotors.

All those sports analogies don't work because they are competitions of skill. In this game, pve is not (for the most part) a competition of skill, it's a competition to see who can dedicate the most time to the game.
Yes, because people who excel at sports got there without spending an inordinate amount of time at it icon_rolleyes.gif

But unless you're a Red Sox-Yankees game, they don't spend an inordinate amount of time in the actual competition.

I knew as soon as I posted it that you'd respond with that. Nice eye roll btw. The difference, which you already know but can't see past your own snark, is that you could spend every waking hour of your entire life practicing basketball/golf/whatever sport and still never be anywhere near the best because it takes a combination of time and natural skill, where this game requires only time.

Nice distinction, but we've strayed well past the point where any of this has anything to do with whether or not PvE should be scored and ranked.

It's a fruitless argument on the forums where a majority of the participants are the ones who are placing highly. Technically they lose nothing but exclusivity if the reward structure is changed. and even that can be dodged with timing.

It's just kind of pointless at this rate to argue. It's not pve. whether you place top 10 or not, not acknowledging that is just jumping through semantic loops.

If anything all this thread from it's title advocates is giving people more pve rewards as they chase the placement rewards. Some would rather the placements be eliminated entirely, mainly because you go nearly double and in some cased triple the required score by an events end to place. if everyone is doing that and a person doesn't place their 'hard' 'work' (which i place in airquotes because its simply a value proposition. some peoples time is worth more, some people don't have the rosters but have plenty of time) becomes for nothing.
With more rewards along the way...

it's literally not a hard concept.
