The years displayed on the cover descriptions refer to the date when the book was launched. C.Storm's cover is from the same series, and also has 1963 as the year on her cover description.

I really don't understand your argument. What is wrong about her description?

Technically, the title Uncanny X-Men didn't show up until 1975 in issue #95 (Storm's 1st appearance was #94) though it didn't show up on the cover until 1978 issue #114 but it's still part of the X-Men series that started in 1963 so the description IS correct.

Modern Storm's cover Uncanny X-Men, #449 was published in September 2004 (Nov. 2004) but the year in the game lists it as 1963.
Kind of strange that this hasn't been discovered by now. Guess no one looks at 1-star characters that often.

I could have sworn that it once displayed the correct year but you're totally right.

When I first started this game, I liked the cover art for Modern Storm and used the date of the cover to look it up (I hadn't kept up with the comics, really, past the 90s and early 2000s).

I've started up MPQ after quite a long break (last new char I got was *** Human Torch), and there have been a lot of changes. I had kept around a * Storm for quite a while due to her great board-shaking ability, especially against non-matching characters. She's obviously been nerfed quite hard with the change to her Mistress of the Elements and TU stuff. I loved the way she was able to chain abilities so well (even without the infinite ability loops of jungle/desert maps), but she doesn't quite seem capable of that now, due to the increased cost and decreased ability of her Mistress of the Elements.

Is she still useful (or even usable) in a team of ** and *** characters anymore? Would you bother keeping her?
  • fwiw, she is still on my roster of 53, but I can't remember the last time I played her, nor is she really that useful outside of Heroics. In almost any situation 2* Storm is going to be superior in a ** and *** roster. Plus 3* storm is lazy 1*, so... even for her board shake up ability she is wasted.

I'll likely sell her for Gamorra now that I think about it. I sold IM35 not long ago for Mystique. There comes a time when you move on from 1*s, although you should keep a 40 Jugs for Combined Arms and BoP.

She's the best for pulling off the ghast maneuver for ssim tanking
  • I hesitated for a while before dumping her. But I can say after several months of not having her that you don't need her. If you have tons of roster slots, go ahead and keep her, but otherwise i'd use the slot for a higher tier character (or even a second copy of a higher tier character). I second the comment that the only 1* I keep is a level 1 jugs for BoP, and loaning out as a TU.

Except for the occasional twinge of regret when i see she's buffed in pve, i dont miss her at all. And since we seem to be comparing which 1* we're keeping icon_e_wink.gif mine's IM35. Never had Jugs on my roster since the start cos for some strange reason i didnt really like the idea of self-damage back then.

She can still be useful in Heroic mode I guess. But outside of that niche I don't see why you would ever use her.
It was different back when she collected environmental AP...

If it wasn't for BoP I'd dump her as well, but I'd find having just one 1* incredibly annoying in terms of health pack use in that event - especially one that damages himself.

I keep her, Juggs and 1* Black Widow around just for that event. I wish I didn't have to.

I think a level 1 Juggernaut goes back to full health in less time than it takes for a healthpack to regenerate, so self-damage is not an issue.
  • She's still useful with certain combinations if you don't have a complete roster or a covered 3* storm. Her color combination is decent for low-mid tier.

+ Wolverine + Daken -> blackflag.png attack combines with strike tiles. yellowflag.png ability is also useful.

+OBW. She can still perform decent multi-cascades with OBW, even though it's been slightly lessened. Lightning Strike grabs you purpletile.png and bluetile.png for OBW's AP steal and heal. OBW's steal grabs more yellowtile.pnggreentile.png for cascades, and board shake which gets you lots of crit creation.

+ OBW + Cap for a goon squad.

Is BoP the acronym for the *-only event? That was my main thought about keeping her around along with my IM35 and *BW.

My normal goon squad now is MN Mag, CStorm, and OBW. All that board control plus feeding blue for stall and finishing works well for me.

I'm not exactly sure what this means. icon_neutral.gif
  • She is very useful in Lone Star events.

Thats fine at the lower end of the scale, but if you want to rank top 5 (or 25 even) you will want to grind matches much faster than packs regenerate. I probably get through 15-20 matches each hour long session I play. Without a small selection of 1*s I simply wouldn't be competitive in BoP.
