New 4*s to be easier to get. Is it going far enough?

The final placement has been doubled. Top 5 for three covers now is top 10. Top 10 for two is now top 20. Top 50 for one cover is now top 100.

Does this feel right to people? For me personally I don't think so. You coud grind hard for a week and end up 22nd and you might as well have finished 99th for all it mattered. This used to be the problem with 3* rewards, I recall, how people would work hard for two covers and finish 52nd and the essentially the same reward as the person who finished 149th.

To me, a better syste might have been 15/50/100. Top 50 is still a heavy grind and requires some comittment but it's do-able. 20 is completely out of my league.

Personally, I play the game to reach at least one cover of something new and anything after that is a bonus. I'm not the gind of guy to bust my hump to go for top 20, especially since I haven't gone that far since I broke free of my newbie bracket and nestled into a vet bracket.

Not saying I demand 2 covers for a new 4*, just saying I'd like the opportunity to push forwards and *maybe* get two if I put the work in. Top 20 just isn't going to happen for me.

    any loosening is an improvement. the same could be said about 52 and 98 in your scenario. I'm just happy to either take it easier to t100 or choose to grind hard for t20. I've done t10 before once for daken but it was a grueling week in a very competitive bracket. not sure I care to do that very often. happy with the movement to t100.

    Oh yeah, I should point out I'm trying not to sound ungrateful here. Changing the one-cover reward to 100 is fantastic, it really is. Due to a screw up in the recent PvE I ended up 65th and I could have done a lot better. Woulda been nice to still get a single cover from that.

    All I'm saying is 100 to 20 feels like a tall mountain to climb.

    This point can be made no matter where you change the rewards. In your case, i could finish 51st, and I might as well have been 99th.

    You can't please everyone. I'm happy with the new changes. I think it puts 4* more attainable in PVE, while still not making them as attainable in PVE as 3*. Sorry that the devs can't cater to your level of gameplay.
  • Whilst I appreciate 4*s being more readily available in pve, simulator, vault, pvp etc. I still think the costs to level them via iso still needs to be addressed. With the weekly 3*buffs and their semi-recent 30% drop in iso levelling costs its much more appealing to me to continue to pump iso into 3*s over 4*s.

    Also taking into account the devs nerfing of xforce/4hor it just adds to my reluctance to level anymore 4*s whilst its so much more expensive.

    So overall thumbs up for the easier to get 4* covers but until they become cheaper to level, for me at least they'll be gathering dust at lvl70.
  • 4* rewards == 3* rewards is progress. In a 3 star release finishing 26th is like finishing 99th also (except maybe an HP boost at 50). It's the game we play. If you want 2 covers, grind it out, if you want 1 cover aim for 99th I guess.

    Next thing I want to see is the PvE after one that hands out 4* rewards having a 4* progression as top progression reward. After that I'd like to see rerun's of existing 4*s instead of the constant parade of new 4*s, and then we will be at a place where they are no longer shiny roster badges but actual collectable playable characters. That cost millions of ISO for some reason.

    This is my pet peeve (bolded) as well. Although I'm encouraged by the all the recent steps to bridge other gaps in the game that I feel like the reds have bought some leeway or trust here that it will be addressed. I've been investing ISO into the one's I like, but I've found that with my scaling in PvE or my MMR in PvP, they are a poor investment unless I can max them or nearly max them (with one exception).

    They also added a 2nd 4* to PVP progressions. And added a 4* to Simulator progression. And increased token odds. But hey, go ahead and pick only one improvement (double the rewards) and say it's not enough.

    why not give everyone ALL The covers and call it fair... If i place 11th right now i got screwed cause only the top 10 get the covers. BOO HOO.

    Who gets screwed is the people who are not good enough to score 1 or 2nd in PVP and was not here back in nov.

    4 THOR is going is the 4 star needed for the event and she has only been handed out in ONE PVE back around nov/dec. and only for the top 1 or 2 in PVP...so if you want to talk about people being screwed there you go.

    and guess what the VAULT hits sunday remember the last time they released something new (ultron) and the servers crashed. None are going to be in the office on sunday so good luck playing if it crashes.

    Considering that the bracket size is 500 for a versus event, making the 3* cover available at top 100 is rather generous. I think what happened is that more players are starting to spend $$$ to buy slots now, and D3 is taking advantage by pushing more covers onto players' collective plates. If one plate won't be enough to hold everything, why not get a second? icon_cool.gif

    Huh, really? I must have completely mis-heard the June update video.
    Very glad to be proven wrong, here! I thought it was kinda odd to go 100/20/10 for new 4*s...clearly it was because they're not doing that.

    You know what? My newbie account has ZERO 4* covers. That means I'm screwed on the essentials, right?

    Except I'm currently in the vet bracket with Mikeng, and without grinding, just clearing twice a day, I'm in top 100. How much easier does it need to get?

    You didn't mishear, they really did say it would be top 20 but it ended up being top 50. Either they made a mistake on the video our they changed their minds some time between the video being made and the update going live.

    I also think the scoring change immediately resulting in more hp usage for shields with a significantly higher percentage of the player base trying to make it to 1000 and for the more mid-tier guys, t100 all but requires a shield since you can lose so much ground to a couple of attacks now. hp sales have to be soaring recently. I know I went through some this season but got 3 **** covers out of it and scored 9000 pts and if it keeps up, I have about 1 more season worth of hp in my stash but i'll buy another chunk if it keeps up.

    i can't even get to 1k yet (came close once) let alone 1300.. with the new 1300 cover, that means many of us are going to get hit way more often then before, making the climb for transitioners that much harder.

    One day i will make it...

    Also, top 100 is about to get insanely hard in pvp.

    Which is why you can't complain that they didn't go far enough. Let me let you in on a little secret. The people who top the leaderboards in PvE don't enjoy grinding. It's not fun, and can be frustrating as all hell, because so much can go wrong when you're playing a node so many times. It sucks, seriously. But you know what doesn't suck? When you get that pop-up after the event that says, "You were the top 1 finisher in ISO Brotherhood", and four 4* covers come rolling in. That's why we do it. Or to put it another way, fully-covered 4*s are for the kind of guys and girls who bust their hump.

    No, it's not. If someone is trying to hop from 1000 to 1300, the LAST thing they're going to do is hit people at 800.

    It seems like it's another to change to stop people from hitting 1k progression and then tanking to friends to help them hit progressions as well.
