Thor Tourney Line Up

So what team are you using for this Thor tourney?

I usually place top 45 pretty easily in tourneys but the buffed Thor AI keeps crushing me.

I was running Thor/ OBW / Punisher without any luck

Team was rolling pretty good, but the rewards are useless to me because my gsbw is done (5.3.5) thanks to a green gsbw cover from the oscorp token.

I've been using Thor, OBW and m.stor on the amazon map so I can use storms mistress of the elements and get +5 to all colours super fast. After that, I usually have enough purple to steal most of the enemy's ap and then it's pretty much over. I know m.storm is only 1* but let's face it, basically anything will get practically destroyed if Thor gets an ability off haha

Thor AI will collect AP first then hit you in a series of combos. You can either do the same or kill off the other two non-buff team mates first.

I use Thor/Patch/Juggernaut, with Juggernaut in there because of his low AP cost for his skills. Green comes in handy to shake up the board a bit when you don't have nice tiles to match.

I will say I am liking the diversity I am seeing in teams a bit more for this event. Now that Wolverine is not BFFs with Thor we can see some different partners.

Technopathic Strike is great for cascading and getting demons and the demons do over 1k damage a turn. Get enemy Thor below 40% and Punhisher does them in for 8 red. 6192 damage to an 85 Thor for 8 red is a bargain.

Minor Edit:
I would LOVE to see aggregate data for character usage in these tournaments. At the end throw up some charts showing what characters were used and their win/lose/attack/defense ratios. I am sure they have a digital analytics department looking at that stuff internally but making it public would be really neat.

OBW because stealing ap is crucial for denying opposing Thor his resources and feeding yours.

Punisher because he can down boosted Thor from 6000 hp with his max lvl red (4000 hp with lvl 3 red). Also you can use black for his molotovs.

Spiderman would be great for keeping opposing Thor stunlocked but I don't have enough covers for him.

I try to stay away from every opponent that won't give me at least 30 pts. Also I don't want to run into anyone who can do team wide damage (except for Thor, of course) nor OBW.
I'm actually doing quite decent (but I don't expect to end up in the top 50). I've gained plenty of points to successful defense victories

My tactic is to gain some blue ap asap. (Spidey matches env+blue+purple, Thor matches the rest.)
I try to knock out the other two guys and then start stun locking Thor. 6 web tiles later and it's usually time for Venom to get a snack.
I win about 2 out of 3 matches so the tactic ain't exactly that great. I just do it for Venom to get a chance to devour 12-15 000k HP out of Thor

OBW hasn't been a problem as long as Thor is making matches, she's burned down in six or so if you can keep her from healing. I hate people running Thor OBW MStorm because by the time Storm is dead OBW has enough AP for her abilities and vice versa. My team is 72 Thor 81 spidey 102 Francis Castiglione doing pretty well.

I wish i didn't sell my juggernaut. That dude was pretty powerful. Oh well, he was only at level 30 or so. It'll be easy to rebuild him again.

It's easy to win in this tournament but you'll have a pretty hard time defending against anybody attacking you too so I wouldn't worry too much about it. On defense, most support characters can be killed by Thor just from match 3s before they get any of their moves off.

With post-nerf Thor, red is no longer highest priority. Yellow and green are the way to go. If you can't match yellow/green, go purple/blue for OBW abilities. Toss out the occasional molotov to soften the entire team, and by the time you use Thor's green it'll do huge damage to Thor and kill off the other 2.

100 Hulk, 85 OBW. Hulk is pretty much the only person that can stand up to Thor's moves, and Thor's tile damage is enough to trigger AM and feed me greens. OBW is pretty crucial for her AP steal.

20 Thor because I have to, 85 OBW for suppression and low 90s Punisher for wearing down and executing. Just going for a token or two and some ISO, these aren't quick matches, though Retribution does help. If suppression falters, Thor kills somebody. Sometimes everybody.

I'm using Thor with a varied list of back-ups. Main strategy is to match Greens and hit the opponents with Call the Storm as soon as possible. Usually this kills all unbuffed members of the oponent's team. If the enemy team has a OBW or CStorm, I hit them first.

Spidey stunlocks Thor and then work my way through other 2 players, then leave Thor for last

Gigas Breaker

I'm running 70 Patch, 54 Thor, 54 OBW. Shielded in 4th place right now. I just match to kill the one with least HP until I get Berserker Rage and Thunder Strike up. I'll probably also have Mjolnir's might up too. OBW is stealing AP and healing. Then one big turn where I level 5 Berserker Rage, Mjolnir's Might, level 5 Thunder Strike, cascades, extra turns, and a second Berserker Rage.

Thor, OBW, The Hood. No point in bringing anyone to do damage as Thor does such an insane amount when boosted. OBW allows for some healing for extra longevity and Aggressive Recon + Espionage + Dormammus Aid allows for me to prevent Thor from being able to use any of his abilities. I've won quite a bit on defense and I'm currently shielded at number 4.

85 Thor / 105 Punisher / 70 Spidey when grinding up to 500 points, then subbed spidey out for hulk. Hopefully the level 100s are intimidating enough for me to not have to use a shield.

My team is usually Thor/Patch/Daken, though sometimes I'll slot in Venom or Juggs instead of Patch. Nobody's maxed, I think my Thor is Lv 59. I was 1st when I shielded yesterday afternoon, but now I'm 4th. I'm fine with that, I just want the sweet GS Widow covers for top 5.
