Should I be keeping my 3 stars yet, or selling them for ISO?

I've definitely considered that, depending how well I place in Juggernaut.0
-
Got a top 100 finish in Juggernaut so with the earlier token, I Have 1 red, 1 blue, IM40. Ditched Rags for it, since they both had equal cover amounts and I really disliked Rag. I also earned enough HP to roster Iron Fist, which was his purple ability. I don't really have many people that use Black currently, aside from 2 star torch, but that actually still worked out because as the black ap built, he just started doing **** loads of damage. I realize that's in part due to the reinforcement bonus for Juggernaut, of course, but still.
so im going into mutant brother hood with a well rostered 2 star essential, and then I also have the 3 star as well. Im not naïve enough to think I've got a chance at carnage, but with the expanded prize range, I still am going to try my best to snag one.0 -
Don't listen to people who tell you im40 is useless, he is not. The secret is to keep his yellow cover at 1 and you have the best red accelerator in the game. Even at this early point in the game, he is useful for charging up modern cap to use in goon only nodes. Combined with mmn's polarity shift and you should beat 90% of goon nodes you play with next to no damage taken. Just make sure you don't add that second yellow cover, the extra 9 blue ap is nice but having to make three yellow matches slows im40 down considerably compared to 2.
Also if you rely on mmn for damage, you can keep his red 4 and with both his purple and im40s yellow accelarating red you should be getting magnetic flux off all the time0 -

Yeah. IM40 is probably the worst character I've played with yet. He's basically got one advantage for me in the brotherhood event, in that he's a big bag of HP to tank most of the damage. I unfortunately don't have his yellow cover.
Thanks for the advice so far in this thread. I should quit popping tokens when I get them, but.. so hard to resist as Im still trying to get my 2 stars covered up.0 -
So, to update:
Rostered all my 3 stars during Brotherhood ISO event, but pulled 3Daken, and got a Doom cover for daily log in reward. Also got Groot Blue.
And I got CARNAGE. 3 covers for finishing 2nd in my bracket. Immediately saw my opposing levels jump by 20 as a result. XD
Still maintaining the full 2 star roster, with my key players currently being OBW, Thor, Torch, and Wolverine, (his boost during Brotherhood was too tempting) with magneto and Storm slightly behind.
I've not yet had the point where Ive been forced to discard a 2 star character, (though I did ditch Rags based on advice here)and with the way essentials line up, Im wary of discarding any 2 stars right now. Im sure it will eventually have to happen, but so far so good.0 -
So here's my roster as of today, there's been a few updates but nothing else has been cut yet since ditching Rags.

Also have Loki Purple, 10 days, Cyclops Yellow, 8 days, and 3Daken Blue, 2 days remaining. I am very possibly debating ditching hulk for Loki, because Loki is up for the DDQ, and Hulk was a fixed reward. I will quite possibly just sell 3 daken for ISO and level up his 2 star version more, because Im more interested in the different character mechanics and I don't think Ill get enough free HP in 2 days to slot him in my roster, plus still have Loki/Cyc to find homes for. Not to mention he was just recently featured in an essential within the past month.
I placed -really- well throughout brotherhood, which is why I have so many new 3 stars, (and Carnage, as previously mentioned) and then in prodigal sun, I got lucky and Pulled 3Mag Blue and Yellow, then got progression reward for Red.
Obviously, next candidates for ISO building are OBW (who just got a cap increase) and 2 Mags and 2 Storm, for PVE purposes. I find myself more leaning to ditch Cap and Moonstone, but don't want to run the risk of future essential lockouts while Im still not holding a full 3 star roster, because the 2 stars have really helped me earn 3 star covers each time I've decided to make a concentrated effort to place.0 -
I'd keep daken/loki/Cyclops over im40 or colossus any day of the week. hulk is up to you. green hulk is pretty common, but common is different for everyone. I would not be keeping IM or colossus (or several of your other characters) over daken/loki/Cyclops. you need to be farming iso from LRs if you don't already. see the guide at the top of the tips page.0
-
Yeah, IM 40 is highly likely to get booted. He helped me unlock Carnage, but only because he was a giant can of HP with "KICK ME" on the front, as well as his essential nodes. Colossus I don't really see getting a lot of usefulness out of either.0
-
unless you rely on them, moonstone and bullseye are purely optional and much more easily replaced than any ***. I might trim down the bottom end of my **s before I sold ***s. play some LRs and you can get a ** as needed in drops.0
-
Bullseye's black is actually hella fun, though. I've got him at 5 black, and with the length of matches being what it is these days, I've fired it more than once during Prodigal Sun.
My best was a 10-red-double-crit that hit for something like 2400 match damage. Crazy.0 -

Yeah, I can easily see removing Bullseye after this PVE, and Moonstone Im not really sold on.0 -
So I wound up ditching Moonstone for a slot for Beast, who I scored 2 covers for, to compete in the essentials and hopefully get another Carnage Cover (or more).
Also, was able to use 2Torch, OBW, and Wolverine to power through the Big Enchilada and get a cover.0 -
good job getting through with those. i never played with **torch much and my axwolvie only comes out for seed teams and when boosted. that team might have the lowest health of any team I've heard using on BE - might be a obw/storm/3rd out there somewhere. anyway, congrats. i used daken/ares/obw for a while until i settled on thor/storm/mags. lots of combinations that people like though.0

Yeah that win was a fluke. Have failed multiple times on Doom and Hulk BE since.
Currently have 2 Loki in reserve, Cyclops still, and Vision dropped recently.
Suddenly tempted to just ditch Beast so Loki can get a spot, and then buy HP to roster the other 2.0 -

TxMoose wrote:I found that half-heartedly trying to stay f2p didn't work for me. after selling 2-3 covers, I broke down and bought hp for slots early on. I only did it because I really enjoyed the game and still do 6 months later. I don't regret it, although some say they do.
I'll probably put $5 down the next time there's an HP sale. It's been close to 90 days since my last purchase.0 -
Yep, broke down and bought 600 HP to go with the 300 I had already, then unlocked 2 slots for Cyclops and Loki, still have Vision, but eh. Hes a character Im not thrilled about. I debated unlocking him to try additional runs at ultron progression as the top 3 rungs are his covers, but looked at how high those scores have to be and decided I'd rather not.
I might cut a 3 star instead that I only have one cover for, instead. Hulk's still tempting, just in case that green cover continues to always drop on the Hulk event.0 -
So here's my roster as of today. It's been 2 months, so I thought it'd be neat to show the growth.

Currently have a waiting on a roster slot. With Mr Fantastic coming soon as well, Im in a roster slot crunch as well, and the slots are now 700 HP a pop.
I am seriously debating deleting for the spot for , if I haven't earned the points to slot her by the time she expires/is needed for whatever reason. Im finding 1 cover 4 characters are pretty much useless, and I am in no way near making the 1000 climbs for PVP to earn extra covers.
I am still missing in 3 star land, so depending on pricing, that's another 35-45 dollars worth of slots to make room for, not counting new releases.
I really don't regret booting rags though, except that one day a month he comes up in DDQ. Vision I pretty much feel the same for. I unlocked him with 1 cover for the last Ultron run, but then placed high enough to get 2-3 covers for someone and pitched him out.
And the easy choice would be to ditch 1 of course, but a part of me deep down feels really bad doing so. I like using him in DDQ, and he's easily my favorite comic character that has a spot in MPQ. (Favorite Character goes to Speedball, but I doubt we'll ever see him in MPQ. )0 -
Ditch
He's a 1*. You can rebuild him later on just by pulling a slug of standard tokens & winning some PvPs. I get it the pull of having him on the roster; I've got 10 or 11 covers of him in my inventory, in the vain hope I'll pull a 1000 HP taco to buy two slots (my next slot has to go to Thing).
I used to feel the same way as you about those single-cover 4*, but now I'm starting to roster them when I can. They get you into the PvE essential nodes, plus, if & when you ever draw them again from a token, you're that one little step closer to them being fully playable and not just nuisances.0
