On the plus side it shakes the status quo a little by replacing the all stars by the all stars of the week, on the down side it makes for longer matches and makes you spent your 5 health packs a lot quicker.
That and the time changes makes this season one of the hardest to date as far as I'm concerned while I finally saw things became a bit easier in the last two seasons. I'm not sure I'll hit the 10 pack while it was a given before.0 -
I voted for undecided, because yes: sometimes it's great, sometimes it sucks.
Your feelings on the character buffs are going to depend largely on whether or not you have the weeks A Team. I'm with Ben Grimm on this one, my roster is perfect for this. So far I've had a pretty good time finding and playing with different teams within the buff list...up to a point. By about midway thru the 2nd event of any given week, most players have settled on the "best" pair, and that's all you see. It's pretty much a different XThor every week, and that gets old in a hurry...but at least it switches up more regularly.
That said, for folks that don't have the weeks featured characters at a decent level, this change has got to be absolutely terrible. If you don't have Iron Fist and either Xforce or Black Panther at max level this week, you're not having a good time in PvP. And even if you do, by about halfway thru Real Steel, you're probably completely sick of seeing lvl 240 IronPanther in every node...
So yea, it's pretty much a 50/50, love/hate for me on this one...0 -
If this stays, I'm out. I've put up with a lot **** I didn't enjoy happening to the game.
I guess I'll find out at he start of next season if I'm uninstalling or not.
I know I'm not enjoying it anymore.0 -

I was happy for the first two weeks of the rotations. I went with Doom/Cyclops and then Blade/CMag like everyone, and I was scoring my usual 600-700 points with a single 3 hour shield. There was no 3rd time lucky for me, with my 3/5/1 BP and 2/2/2 IF, I'm NOT enjoying PVP and probably won't be enjoying till the end of the season. Max covered Mohawk and Daredevil can carry me only so far and I need my Mohawk for PVE! So I agree with the vets on this poll, if you have the top guys of the week, its sunshine and rainbows but if you don't, then get ready to cough out a lot of healthpacks.0

I did like it at first, but I should have figured the "I don't have those characters" week would come along.
Or at least, I don't have the killer combo. Last week there was a butt load of Blade and CMags, and I have them maxed so I wasn't hit too often. This week I have BP at max and...what else? Storm? Clashes with his black too much. X-Force? He's 1/2/5 and not even level 160 yet (unboosted). Daredevil? Boosted he's level 170.
Well I tried Daredevil and when I came back to the game a few hours, I'd lost 128 points, so clearly I'm an easy target. I suppose it doesn't help that this is a PvP with a new character, so you're a man down anyway.
I cannot think of a good defensive team with BP. Generally the characters that generate black also *use* black. You want BP to fire his off, but if you put him with Dr Doom, say, it's just as likely Summon Demons happens.
I'd love to use IF, but he's 1/1/5 currently. Useless in this combo.
So yeah, I like the weekly boosted characters, but for PvP you're screwed if you don't have the weekly guys at a good enough level.0 -
multi buff characters is good for PvE, but not for PvP. i think they can implement that much of a change, cause if it's such a great idea for multiple buffs why isn't done in shield simulator so that every week you have to play once to get the next flavor of week team going.0

Everyone saying that its good for the weeks that they have boosted covers should look at the wider picture. The more health the opposition teams have means that there's more chance of getting hit by an ability or being on the wrong end of a cascade. These cascades and abilities hit harder so your periods of play will get smaller (at least mine have anyway) unless you pay for health packs.
When you reach the point were you need to shield if you get a bad board and have to hack your way out through the boosted health, you will be out with your pants down getting hit by everyone from 0 up because of the mmr change.
The boosted covers have just accelerated all of the negative changes in the last few months and, for me anyway, left the game practically unplayable, I'm just going through the motions of habit atm.
I enjoy a long game of Puzzle Quest but the present PVP model doesn't allow for it. I think I would get more satisfaction uninstalling this and replaying Puzzle Quest 2.0 -
How bad is not having a serviceable pair out of the weekly boosted list? I'm playing PVE this week instead0

I don't have any of the boosted guys this week, and LThor + Loki has me sititng at 650. I'll make my a final push in 30 minutes and probably get to ~850.
Not having the buffed characters isn't the end of the world.0 -

I actually upvoted this comment earlier, but on consideration, it's only true if you have some top tier characters maxed. Any transitioners trying to get by with beast/psylocke/im40 is just in trouble.
Sure they'll benefit when their top characters are boosted for the week, but the rest of the time...0 -
It sucks, unbuffed part of your roster just can't be used. It's like constant heroic mode.0

I'm good with it (I also have a fairly deep roster), but scoring overall is down even further than last season, as best as I can tell. Will be interesting to see how bad it is when the season 14 rankings finalize. That's likely more MMR burnout than boosted character fallout, but there's a definite impact there.
As far as the "it's the same teams" argument, we've spent 14 seasons with "it's the same team." Whether it's Sentry/Hood, the 270 twins, or whoever, there's always been a top dog. At least now the top dog changes week to week, which is something.
IF/XF/BP have dominated so far, but I've seen more than a handful of IMHB, 4Thor, Cyclops, Daredevil, moStorm, and Scarlet teams floating around. IF boosted did kill Hood's appearances this week, so that's a positive.
The one thing I'll be curious of is when the bottom tier finally gets a run. So far we've been fortunate that KamalaClops, MagBlade, and XFist/PantherFist are strong enough. What would teams look like with a boosted 5some of DocOck/Beast/Falcon/Quicksilver/SpiderMan? 4* meta, or will it look like an 'old' PvP with 166s flying around?0 -
This cr@p is awful. PvP matches now take 3x longer and our characters now take more damage.
Health increases and buffed heroes = I'm done with PvP and PvE. Thanks for chasing your loyal customer base away.0 -

That doesn't sound very different than the old system. Someone running Beast / Psy / IM40 wasn't going out on a smash spree before. They at least sit pretty tall on the week 1-2 of those get buffed, now.0 -
Boosted DD traps are insane.. i find myself trying to match them myself and hoping the AI doesn't!0

I would love this a tinykitty-ton more than this week's IF/BP IF/XF IF/HB IF/SW clusterfist meta, I'll tell you that. I think in that case we might see more 1 Boost + non-Boost teams like DocOck+Patch, Falcon + Blade/Cage/Fist/Daken, Beast+SW, etc.
But it's unlikely that that's going to happen, because I don't know how they're picking the boosted chars, and it'll probably end up that it'll be Beast/Vision/Quicksilver/Hood/Thor.0 -

They might not have been shooting for 1k, but they were still competitive to an extent, on a regular basis, not one week out of an unknown number.
Buffed 2*s can now take them on confidently, buffed 3*s join the 270 wall. Fewer options to fight, more competitors.
I have nearly all 3*s covered and somewhat levelled. You know what I keep finding myself thinking when I look for matches? 166s are low level.0
