Man, I don't even have a taste of that scaling (I've got 100-120 essentials) and I still hate to play against the PvE characters. I have no idea how ya'll do it.

And I have all three essential characters.

How late did you join? I joined on the first sub and I cleared 42k yesterday (4 clears per sub, with extra clears on the essentials right before the end). The top 10 in my bracket have 70k or better. I'm currently #32 with 55k.

Realistically, I wouldn't expect the average player to hit the final progression until the last day of the event.

I'm not sure what you mean by playing as much as you can.

My slice has been open for about a little under 3 days (3 subs) and the top 10 have already achieved progression. How many clears do you manage a day/per sub. Even a moderate 2 clears is a conservative 7k pts which puts the progression in reach on day 6.

This is a relatively grindy PVE. Loooooong and all the nodes are in a pretty tight range of points. OK, it's the very definition of a grind.

That said, I cleared 42K with 2.5 days to go, and I am only #183 overall, as I have not been able to do more than a clear and a grind per sub. The guy in #1 had over 80K when I hit 42K.

Sooo .... it's very attainable. Unless you missed the first several days?

Any PVE that you can snag this many 3* covers from is worth the effort. Hit progression, get Colossus, Free Hulk green cover (well, close to free), and top 150 seems pretty easy in this one (although i do not need the cover, want the hp and iso)... not to mention, tokens from the subs etc can net you even more.

grindy yes, worth it, oh he11 yes.

I don't know. I think I'd like to go back in time a week and tell my naive younger self that finishing Daken wouldn't be worth the insane amount of effort. The scaling on this one has been out-of-control bad. In my bracket there are about fifteen people who all have a reasonable shot at top ten, so this doesn't even get to be one of those events where the last sub is a victory lap. It's going to be a grind all the way to the bitter end.

Guessing it depends on your personal goals. I am shooting for top 150, sitting at #64.. stopped hard grinding, just helping keep the alliance in the top 250 for rewards.
  • Just to chime in on some stuff...

Scaling is still bad, but for the first time, I actually had a node I failed at twice scale DOWNWARD. Never saw that before.

7 days is a looong time to grind for a card, but I need the LDaken, so there's that.

3 3*s for one event without hitting T1-2 is the very definition of "worth it," provided you need the cards (I do.).

Hit my progression comfortably with 2+ days to go, hitting 8-hour subs, grinding with a modest level of conviction at the end of each sub. Probably could have coasted to the progression with 8-hour sub clears, but I wanted to have the other cover for the final push...

Currently bouncing between 120s to 160s, so the swings have settled down a bit (was bouncing between 240+ pre-sub clear to 140-ish post, dropped into 110-ish following last night's clear and grind Currently hovering around 135-ish). Looks like people are hitting progression and taking a breather? Hopefully? Yeah, it's only an LDaken for T150, but when you only have one cover on him... well, yeah, it's one more. icon_e_wink.gificon_lol.gif

    DBC

P.S. Anyone sitting above me who doesn't need the LDaken, feel free to pump the brakes a bit. I'm getting sleepy. icon_e_wink.gificon_e_biggrin.gif

Not in the final board yet, are there actually 4 essentials, or is this a "reinforcements" node?

there is 4 or 5 nods on the main event nod that needs punisher to play them on the final stage
    i think about 1500 or 2000 pts

Oh, sure, if you're going to set sane, reasonable goals for yourself, you'll probably have a sane, reasonable time achieving them!

My one consolation is that there are no more characters, other than new ones, that I'd be willing to work this hard for. Except for Iron Fist. (Please let the next rewards not be Iron Fist! That would be as competitive as a new character!)

Not gonna quote everybody who replied to me. Thanks for the many who did, though.

I actually joined this one before the first sub opened for my time slot. So it's ironic that I'm having this issue; I usually allow the event to...ripen a bit so I have a better chance at nailing the ranked prizes, though it makes it harder to get the progression rewards - but I can still usually do well there. But something has changed in the last few pves.

This time, I was more ingested in trying to guarantee myself the Colossus cover, since Daken is one of the nine (only nine, now!) Three star covers I don't have, and I don't have roster space right now. But I'm managing an average of 5k points per day, sometimes two clears, sometimes one, but clearing the essentials at least three times daily, if not more. But my plan for this one has completely failed. Gonna miss Colossus, but I'm bouncing between about 120-160 in the ranking, so pretty sure I'll get Daken...

Same here, and my bracket didn't open until the first sub was already over. I don't know how anyone gets into a pre-reg bracket where 40k lands you in the top 10.

same here - missed first sub. bracket opened Saturday morning. I'm sitting at 10 with 69700 - really hope I can keep this up. would love to get the 3rd cover here plus his progression on the next event. been tough at cascade central though.

Finally reaching dreaded lvl 230+ on non goon levels, this is with fixed lvl 94 roster with whoever is boosted. It's getting more challening and often just random luck getting through.

On a different note and an observation from my slice (kinda for TX)

There is a person who has the same problem as you as the slice flips at night for them, i'm guessing based on his pattern of play. 24hr subs means 3 full clears (0, 8, 16) and then the final grind as close to the end as you can ideally. However this person misses the start of the sub, does 3 decent clears and then grinds all nodes to 1 and stops playing about 4/5 hours out. So i would guess misses about 6 hours of optimum play. This sounds bad until you take into account very people can grind every node to 1. I certainly don't and finish a little behind (scared of the big node icon_mrgreen.gif )

They've done this since joining in sub 3 and has been good enough for a top 5 finish in the sub and currently top 5 overall. It does depend on the level of competition and our slice has clearly defined groups but impressive nonetheless.

In terms of points for this slice to keep it simple I joined at start of sub 3 (sub started about 1 hour before the end of sub 2). Before the final sub, 10th had about 60k.

So in short, unless you are going for top 2 then perhaps joining a different time slice may be okay.

yep - I've said before that I wasn't going to do 4 again but here I am... I've heard 1 and 5 are not as competitive and I might find out soon icon_e_wink.gif

wow. never seen a non-goon team get to 300 before. guess I get to find out what that's like here. I only have 1 guy at 166... been using loki/obw with Lthor here but at this level, not sure obw can hang any more. might use fist but not sure I want to flood the board with black against this one.

Which node? What's the lineup? Assume you mean the highest level node in the last sub, Bullseye, Yelena, Venom?

I last beat it with GSBW (lvl 134), CStorm (94), and BP (128).

Fist and/or Doom, with Mohawk, XF, Blade and/ or BP is a great pool to draw from, but on these nutty-scaled nodes, stuns are invaluable, and CStorm is the best at it. Spidey and DD are also great for cheap protects, stuns, and traps, with tile breaks to boot.

That team only has purple and black active colors, which makes it very easy to deny them their abilities. I fought fire with fire and used BP, Doom and Hood. OBW would be perfect against them as long as you have someone with cheap protect tiles (or preferably free, i.e. Luke Cage) so she doesn't get whittled away while she's matching purple.

that's the one. I just threw my normal 166thor/142loki/94obw and it worked ok. obw didn'ttank purple but I needed loki to flip bull's protects. she did tank blue and that kept her healed. by the end of the match she had most of her health but most of the bar was green from her heals. wasn't as hard as I thought it might be but took a while - lots of health. and other than thor my side was pretty fragile looking. I thought blade would be perfect here with his stealing the strongest color ap and a good use for the purple/black you'd be denying, but mine isn't ready for that level yet - still in the 70s.
