Post-nerf satire

I spent real time and money investing in this character because it was overpowered. And I used this overpowered character to perform mindlessly better in various tournaments, from which I won various rewards. And now that it's not overpowered any more, I demand a full refund of hp/iso-8 so that I can invest in the current flavour of the month. Or else a full refund of my money: because by rebalancing this character (that I've used to win various rewards whilst it was overpowered) you have stolen from me!

Never in the history of online competitive games have overpowered abilities been nerfed like this! I am shocked that this has happened. In fact, I've just had to invent the word 'nerf' because this very concept is so unfamiliar to me!

I hope the devs that never listen to us rot in heck. Do you hear me, devs?

At least they are posting future needs. Unlike the past.
I do like how they handle Thor n wolverine.
Also shame on people who invest in spider n c mag.
They should also try to encourage people to visit the forum to keep up to date with future change so that we can prepare ourselves.
  • I'm fine with people losing a month of their work without a way to redirect their time and money spent.
I would never level the most powerful characters in a game because who does that ? I'm pumping my iso into bagman like a real vegetab... champion.
I'm gonna go write some badly aimed 'satire' on the forums.
  • I love the devs. They excite me.

They are gods that can do no wrong. They are the symbol of perfection, and all of us worship them.

I will kiss their **** all day long.
  • Why don't people realise that Marvel Puzzle Quest is work and not a game? I come home each day from job/studies, and instead of relaxing or doing something fun, I have to endure hours of joyless work leveling up my characters!! And then they go and nerf them, ruining all the miserable hours spent forced to "play" with them. Why don't they just rip my head open and spit in it? It would be faster.

Don't they appreciate that MPQ is such a drain on my time and energy, that I'm not even able to spank the monkey any more? Mind you, at least that's one other pleasureless chore avoided.

Isn't satire supposed to be funny?
  • People wouldn't have had to overuse Wolvy/Thor if there were more ISO rewards (to make their 3 star characters stronger) and other 2 star characters were a bit more effective.

When you constrain ISO so much, it makes such decisions as leveling certain characters to max even more important.

So, it's a natural reaction to get pretty heated because those max leveled characters represent hours/hours of playtime. For more casual players, that reaction becomes even more pronounced.

    I agree.
  • Guess as much as games supposed to be fun to play.
  • I spent ages getting my character maxed out. Then the devs come along and nerf it for the sake of balance and choice (who on earth wants that in a competitive PvP game?) - and do you know what I have at the end of that? I still have that character maxed out. It's a disgrace. I feel so betrayed. It's such a waste of my effort with nothing to show for it!
  • Man stop being an abused housewife, it gives the devs too much power

Not necessarily. The main purpose of satire is still social criticism, although wit and humor are often a staple in quality satire. This barely qualifies as satire, because it is a simple restating of actual events in a sarcastic tone. While sarcasm is often seen in satire because the writer usually makes incredulous claims to highlight his points, sarcasm does not make the satire. Still, this does loosely fit the definition of satire, even if it is of very low quality. Think of it like my 4-year-old nephew making a finger-painting. He made it to look aesthetically pleasing. He used the most basic of materials necessary to create a piece of art. When he finished, it could technically be described as art. However, it shouldn't be put on display for anyone other than those with a personal relationship to my nephew because it isn't very good. There isn't any nuance or creativity in it. I doubt you would find any deeper meaning to it. I don't blame him for this, of course. He's 4 and doesn't understand these things yet.

I understand where you are coming from. I too practice the same thing because who would want to buy a cellphone? That cellphone is going to be obsolete in a few years anyway and they'll make you buy a new phone. Sometimes, the carrier themselves will all of a sudden brick or limit the useability of your phone. For example, just yesterday, i could not longer make phonecalls on my phone despite me buying a phone to make phonecalls. Oh well, i guess i should just roll with it. Idiot.
  • It kinda takes away from the subtlety of the satire if you explain that it's satire in the title.. It's like yelling to everyone "Look how clever and sarcastic I'm being!"

THIS, THIS, THIS!!!! Where did all the ISO go???

The same place the fun went.

    Where did the fun go?

    It's in your wallet.

Oh, wow. I don't see any fun in there. I thought this was the Launch Edition.

It is. Now that we have you hooked, your fun is a direct correlation to how much money you're willing to spend.

    Houston, we have a problem....

Then again, this is the internet and it's hard to tell who is being satirical and who ate paint chips as a baby.

Hey! Did you not read the subject of this thread? It's satire! Take your logic elsewhere, for it does not belong here!

I think your nephew should work at D3. Have you seen Ares? He doesn't have a fullsized shirt. It's like he got out of the shower and had to run to replace Thor, and in the way he could only find your nephew's shirt. Now he is so frustrated he casts yellow.

Fine. I'll take my logic to the same place the fun went. Some deep, dark corner of the Nether Realm!!!

Only you can make this comment. Well done.
