Believing in luck is your choice, kind of like religion or any other faith-based superstition, but the player and the matching algorithm decide who the player faces - it's not random chance. Someone who believes in luck says "I got an unlucky board" when what really happened is that they made the wrong choice of characters for that match or "the AI cheats and gets all the cascades" when it was the players' first move that set the whole thing in motion. Who you see and who sees you are dictated solely by decisions made by the player - if you don't believe me, sit out a PVP or two and see what kind of opponent you face: I guarantee it'll be a different class entirely based solely on one decision you make a week earlier. Or, sell your maxed 4*s and you'll see the same thing, but immediately.
