    Is this a joke ?

Only based on artworks in the marvel.com interview / best fit characters regardless of rarity

Perfection in a sentence. It is after all, a game. It is meant to be fun, if it is no longer fun for you, why are you here?

Sad thing is im staying around somewhat to give D3 a chance to come correct on this. D3 gave me no choice in these nerfs but you had a choice when you opened a topic named Operation Vet Purge. What were u expecting??? We were going to be praising D3's abilty to screw people over? Only thing our complaints will do is benefit all you sheep that drank the D3 kool-aid. Dont open a topic that you dont want to read about then whine cuz u read it. Baaaaaah go on sheep D3 is calling

If Ultron related pve is restricted to an Avengers-only roster as a heroic event, then yes I could see 1/2* avengers being needed for this event. If you've been hoarding standard tokens (hello my slush pile of 700 tokens!), it's quite easy to quickly build up a roster of one stars at least. The alternative is to hit the shield sim and grab those covers!

I don't like any of those answers. I was looking for a box that says "I score above 800, I'm still going to play as much... I'm just pissed."

Well, seeing these results, and some other post-QS PVP opinions, it seems the changes are better for casual players. Meaning, the hardcore players have been milked, and the company doesn't see much use in us long term.

It's strange, when I started playing nearly a year ago, I had zero expectation of coming in top of PVP in the early days, during the 2-3* transition. I built up my roster, I spent $20 every three months (and would have into the foreseeable future), and earned my 4* roster. When I complained to alliance mates that I couldn't beat the top teams, it wasn't because I wanted the MMR changed, it was because I knew I needed to keep at it and get where the top teams were. And I did it. I'm top five this season, because of strategic character building, strategic ISO investment, and working with an alliance. The HP I bought helped a little, but I didn't buy my way into top five, I played my way there. And it was very satisfying until these massive changes were implemented.

Anyway, the Operation seems to have been a success. The top players are pretty burnt out/unsatisfied, and the casual/new players are happy. The company should be able to milk a lot of new members who come with Avengers II, until they figure out that there is no progression. If it works for the company, I can't blame them. It's a job. Think of how it might be to be a Marvel or DC editor, forced to create a new crossover event (you want to read Secret Convergence, right?). They are in the same position: make sales. So I'm not angry. Frustrated, but not angry.

I'm not going to delete the game, but I'm not going to play next season. PVP is a slog, I don't need most 3*, I have no faith that Prof X will be useful when I have him completed in six months, and the 10-pack prizes that I used to look so forward to winning rarely give me more than one I can use. If some covers come up that I want (Kamala, maybe), I'll give it a go. In general, I'll stick to DDQ, and be super casual. I don't even know if it's worth it to compete in PVE when a new character comes up. Luke Cage, IF, and Cyclops were great new characters, but with the health upgrades, a lot of older ones are comparable. Why bother competing unless you're the compulsive type? I'm not. I'm competitive, just a little compulsive.

And the company will never have another dollar from me, but as I wrote earlier in the thread somewhere, my $20 every three months is less than five noobs spending $5 each, so theoretically it makes sense.

The upside? My wife will be much happier.

    "Working as intended."

I mostly quit PVE this season and don't grind for the 4*'s in PVP, my wife is quite a bit happier with their changes.

We lost one of our most hardcore players last season, almost certainly will lose another this season, and a third talking about going out at season's end as well. These are all multiple 270 types, who can (and often did) push for 1K: but the changes have just crushed the vets, as the title indicates. It's to bad, and like others I'm saddened and shocked to see so many bad changes so quickly.

I'm really hoping Ultron event puts some energy back into the game, but it seems foolish to hope like that at this point.
  • It's a success in my book: I quit.

The new matchmaking totally sucks, the 10min+ plus fights, PVE scaling, etc, it's added up. I've lost heart. Lethal Intent wasn't great, but Blue Shift was awful. Identity Theft is looking even worse -- what a grind. I always told myself when a game goes from "fun" to becoming "work", it's time to let go. Time to throw in the towel. In the end I managed to go 162 events and 10 seasons in a top100. "What a long strange trip it's been."

I'll hang around to chat with alliances mates. In the end, the alliance mates you make are really the best part of the game. That feels like all there is left to the game at the moment. Hopefully they'll fix that someday. Until then...

(I'll check out Final Fantasy Record Keeper. It seems a lot of players see this as a substitute of sorts).

Didn't read the whole thread, sorry. I'm a vet, I have maxed 4or and X-Force, but to be fair I didn't pay cash for them. I could buy covers of interest with earned HP past a particular point of progress which happened more than a year ago. I did use some cash and would gladly spend more but I like earning things a bit more, game-wise.

Same as others, the thing that initially attracted me was 'match-3 with Marvel characters', and it is still there as far as I can see. I enjoyed Lethal Intent somewhat, at least because I could never use Gamora's skills before, when X-Force and 4or were the obvious choices for all of poor Gamora's colours. Maybe one would use her skills climbing on seed teams or 2*s and underleveled 3*s, but past 600-700 points it was X-Force/4or and Gamora was the useless meatshield to Surgical Strike green colour off. Same concerns many other characters that had to live in X-Force and 4or's shadow: lazy Cap, lazy Thor, Mohawk Storm, Punisher, Patch, Human Torch, even Hood and Loki due to the standard PvP team consisting of two best + featured, and two best were X-Force and 4or for many, many months, without any doubt. They are still powerful, more powerful than the best 3*s, so I don't feel that my investment of time and effort was cheapened in any significant way.
On the opposite, making more characters viable and being able to compete made the previous effort to earn them feel that more rewarding.
I bought two covers for Professor X (earned HP, again), and I'm not afraid of a possible nerf to him, although he's really quite balanced on his own.
Many people I know have quit recently - although not thanks to the changes but due to the time demands for competitive players, but some have returned after long inactivity, too, and most vets I know are still playing, and thus I know that 'Operation Vet Purge' wasn't a success. And in fact was never carried out.

It's a curious thing. I was doing fine playing mostly casually, then I joined an alliance that gave me a lot more resources and allowed me to progress faster. Then xf's buff, time slices and 8hr refreshes made me able to compete a lot more successfully and I ended up playing more, and progressing even faster.

I sank all my gains from these changes back into my roster (slots and shields, no covers) because really all I wanted was a match-3 game with character-building and some story elements (yay, new pve at last! but please don't rerun it 10x in the next 2 months).

So, the xthor nerfs made me sad because I loved my murderous cascade monster xf and I was slowly, lazily building up my goddess, but well. I'm still able to compete and progress, xf is still a cascade monster, just less murderous and more squishy, and I will never know what I'm missing with goddess, but my 3* army see more action, and my little collection of half-baked 4*s is growing stronger and more usable, so all things considered, I'm still entertained.

It would be really nice if they could fix mmr so I could also use some of the less serious segments of my roster outside of pve, though.
