Was "Operation Vet Purge" a success?

Day 365
Seriously contemplating uninstalling.
Now playing casually and hitting pve for alliance mates. Used to play pve religiously and every pvp and wld stop ard 600 pts (cos i always seemed to miss the 'next big thing') but now that my rosteris built up i don't even bother most of the time. If i'm bored i might go up to 400 but after that it really depends on my mood.
The plus side is that i found other games (hello Final Fantasy Record Keeper) and i rediscovered old ones (Injustice!) and if i want to get in on the Ultron event, there's Contest of Champions.
2 months ago i would've been excited about an Ultron event (assuming it's a new Pve) but i have little interest in playing it in MPQ.
One thing i'll do from now on is to check any new game for D3/Demiurge. If they make it, i'm uninstalling it.
Edit
Not angry with the changes but it has made playing this game a lot less enjoyable so why would i want to continue playing that's no longer fun. Only thing i get pissed off about are the 'unfair' AI cascades but that's another thread0 -
i think its very successful. i just get top 10 prize from hard sim sub with only 1 clear. it was 14 hrs left when i join. this never happened to me.
but am i happy about it.. no, because it is not fun. not even close to barely fun.0 -
I was already purged before these changes but reading about them on the forums just reaffirmed that I shouldn't bother coming back.
Lower damage output + more health = longer matches = less casual.
Combined that with the increased time sinkage in PvE and PvP I can't even be bothered to play a single match.0 -

Pls post your roster, gaming day and also post if you are top 10 in PvE regulary.
If you have top (full) roster, day lets say atleast 200, and top 10 for last lets say 6 months, then there is no chance for top 10 as you post.
I´m in second second bracket (joined right after that first second bracket was full ) and even 2 full clears and grinding at the end didn´t throw me to top 10.0 -
Came back to say. it was fun while it last, with all the collection of covers, metagaming, random ranting with alliance mates.
However, towards the end of my quitting, MPQ felt like a chore. setting my alarm for when my shields expires in the wee hours. I quit after an 8hrs marathon PVP session for a single Fthor cover (felt silly when I think back). I could have turned casual but the OCD competitive side of me knew that was impossible. so I had to walk away.
I've since moved on to my PS4 for many months now. must have spent upwards of 1500 hours in Destiny and still enjoying the game.
Quit if you stop enjoying the game, no need to rage in the forum. Stay if you are still having fun.
/sneak away into lurker mode again0 -

Perfection in a sentence. It is after all, a game. It is meant to be fun, if it is no longer fun for you, why are you here?0 -
I'm hanging on until the end of the season solely for my alliance and then going casual: DDQ, maybe jumping into a PVE at the end if there a fresh bracket, and maybe some pvp up to 300-400, but that's it. No shields. Will join a vacation alliance to give TUs to newbs, but the changes have basically said to players like me, "thanks for your time, now tiny kitty off." But I'll stick around because I like match 3 and Marvel (read: not D3).
Day 545 F2P
Fully loaded roster
Top 5-10 pvp prior to changes
Top10-25 PVE when I felt like it0 -

not a hard grinder. wish i had catpure screen to show u. i did went casual 2 season ago, not playing much. grind to progession then stopped most of the time.
i think i will go to 21000 for this event, want me to come back and states what rank i am at after the event is finish??0 -

I had this exact same thing. I only cleared 2 of the essential nodes, 4 nodes on the left and 2 on the right once in like 14 hours and ended up 8th in my bracket. Day 340 for me with 4 166s, most three stars fully covered.0 -
Loftus wrote:Am i missing something with the shields? a 3 hour shield is 75 HP and you get at most 100 for finishing in the top of events. I'm a good player in the sense that i'm constantly beating 166's with my 94's. Even if you win 40 point matches you're looking at a minimum of 20 per event to get anywhere near top placings. I'm at the point where roster slots are 350 HP a pop and using 75 for a shield really isn't viable.
I wish people would realise that skill while playing and time available to play are not the same thing.
Also for what it's worth, i've been incredibly competitive in many online games over the years and never bemoan changes or nerfs. If you're a competitive player, you roll with it. The changes affect every player on the game, after all.
Until you have played competitively in MPQ, which I define as top 100 every pve or pvp event and top 100 season, I think you haven't played MPQ competitively. The reason I say this is because in pvp, the use of shielding is CRUCIAL in keeping your points for placement purposes. So for you not to understand the use of shielding beyond the hp costs is indicative of your personal lack of experience playing MPQ on a competitive basis. This is not a personal attack on you, but rather an observation.
If you disagree with me, here's a simple test. Try to place top 10 in the upcoming Mystique pvp event. See if you are able to get there, and if so how you are able to do so. Post your experience here.0 -
Day 360 player. As a competitive pve and pvp player, I made a decision to expand my roster to carry every character in the game. Yes, it's the gotta-catch-them-all pokemon approach. The beauty of this approach is that I have every cover in the game right now, except for Dino green. So I'm actually better positioned to handle D3 changes than most players.
I understand that D3 is a business and the uberness of gt/xf teamups discouraged players from buying cover packs and spending iso/hp to level up other characters. Pre-nerfs, basically if you got your max gt/xf, you're set as a pvp player. I view the character changes, the boost downgrade from 6 to 4 aps, the health boosts of a number of characters, mmr adjustments, all these changes are designed to make pvp matches longer, convince players to buy cover packs for other characters, and generally try to get players to spend more $$$ to continue playing MPQ.
Is D3 experiencing a revenue shortfall? Is the revenue stream not sufficient to please its corporate shareholders? Clearly, there is something providing impetus for the publisher to get more milk from the cash cow. To me D3 isn't actively purging vets as much as trying to increase revenue ASAP, for whatever reason. Veteran players quitting MPQ is calculated collateral damage in the eyes of D3 management, and nothing you say or do will change that, unfortunately.
Even if every veteran decides to quit this game, D3 is getting tons of new players due to all the conventions the publisher is attending. If each event costs tens of thousands of dollars (I've put together a trade show personally in the past, so I'm aware of the costs involved) to produce, and D3 is attending a number of them this year, clearly this means the publisher is getting more new players (who are paying customers) than the company is losing right now.0 -
Day 543 here, but I've only spent maybe $30 maximum on the game. Not because I don't enjoy it, just wanted to try and do it mostly as a F2P player, nothing against people who do. The game is mostly the same for me, as I have a mass pool of 3*, only 6 @ 166 currently, but growing as I get ISOs, the biggest stumbling block. Biggest issue I have is, I don't feel inclined to build the 4* with my ISO, as for the power they are, it just isn't worth it over my 3* I already have built like Thor, Hood and Daken. I still hit top 100 in pve, top 20 or 50 if it's something I want, as well as the alliance hitting top 100 each time, whilst I still hit top 100 in pvp if I want it (again, with rewards like Mystique and Cap, less inclined to push further).0

Day 590 Player
Last year I dropped $100 a month, sometimes more. Mostly I would spend it on 3* covers as new heroes came out -- typically I would buy the 2nd cover once I got the 1st in a color.
This year the content is coming even faster and I think I have dropped ~$40. You just don't get value for your money. I don't want to buy the current fad 4* at $20 a cover and then watch it get nerfed (ProfX, I'm looking at you). The HP investment in 3* land gives you a decent sense of oomph -- $10-$20 can usually finish off someone who you have earned most of their covers, or nudge a respec in the right direction. If I were to drop $100 into Kingpin, he'd still be largely useless. Cover packs are useless. Shields and Roster slots are the only thing I buy now, and I have about had it with Roster Slots.0 -
I could just quote most posts from this thread and add "+1" (I will copy some sentences just because I 100% agree with them).
Day 335, completely stopped pve despite being in competitive alliance, will quit after season.
I feel burned before, but with last changes I lost any will to play.
Lower damage output + more health = longer matches = 0% fun
Paraphrasing Eastwood's title - "No game for Old Players"... I should be awarded thanks to putting effort and/or money for maxing 4* and have advantage being able to win faster and easier than other players - it's normal for any game and that is as things should be, or so I thought. I am not even mad, just feeling awful about it and will make sure to never ever again try another game form D3/Demiurge.

I'm on my 349th day. I've been around longer than that, but took a hiatus for several months. Wish I hadn't, I could be getting my Nick Fury and Thoress covers right now instead of still working on IW. Devil Dino in 2 more weeks!
Anyway, I still like the game. I have not spent any money on it except for HP to increase my slots. Since I've improved my team, I'm able to earn most of the HP I need to do that now, although since I'm currently up to 800HP/slot, I will probably be spending money again fairly soon. Trying to avoid that, though. I actually sold my Yelena to free a spot, even though I'm a completionist kinda guy.
I'm a top 100 pvp'er, and this hasn't changed it much. I guess I get fewer overall points, although I come out higher, but still not too high. And although I never had a high XF, I'm doing quite well with a maxed Hood/Thor on my team. Currently sitting at 4 maxed and working on Loki. Never gonna buy ISO, I am a patient person, I don't need to have everything ASAP.0 -
I like to support games I play that are "f2p" even if just to say "I appreciate it" to the devs for all of their hard work (the amount I've spent on here and Marvel Heroes 2015; (which has a FANTASTIC community and really responsive devs) is probably vomit inducing).
That being said; I'd have to be completely out of my mind to ever put a single dollar back into this game ever again. After enough "funbalancing" they finally taught me a lesson in upgrading quality characters using real currency . The biggest insult to everyone though is the absolutely shameful "increased sellback" prices they offer for "balanced" toons (ESPECIALLY for 4* characters); It's a mere pittance for what we put into this game on good faith.
The lack of response from the devs is also disheartening, it's like they can't handle the negative responses so instead they just hide under the covers of their bed instead of straightening out the situation with some explanations/comments on these controversial topics.0 -
Prepare for next anti-vet/cashgrab situation - requiering 1*/2* avengers for the Ultron event. (No roster slot recycling!)0

Requiring specific 1*'s? That would be about the worst cash grab I could imagine.
1) Release characters very quickly, so folks start getting rid of covered/leveled ones.
2) Release DDQ, to let folks know they only "have" to keep one of those 1*'s!
3) Release Ultron: joke's on you, you have to keep ALL those 1*'s! Hope you enjoy buying new slots and leveling them up....a second time!0 -

Is this a joke ?
More like, expressing a fear.0
