What happened to a casual puzzle quest game

More of the 1 star only tournaments they had a while back would help this I think. Maybe make them a regular weekly event like lightning rounds.

I'm not even sure if 1 star tournies are going to help. I mean, 1 stars are cheap as hell to get. If you have a little money, you can max a one star easily. I'm not sure what can fix this game to be not pay to win. I think the most they should do is make sure all the covers are fair to play with. There should be an option though for a pay to win but keep it in the pvp matches. PVE should only be against the computer because that's the definition of PVE.

I'm ok with having less than stellar covers in PVE since it's for free. Have the PVP be more expensive and probably have more of those paid pvp events with amazing prizes. I also wish there was some sort of trading system where you could buy covers using a set amount of star cards and iso combinations.

Yeah, the game has really be described as "Too hardcore for a casual game".

The base game is fun. The constant fight against other players, however, sucks. Not everyone is competitive, first off, and having to spend money and huge blocks of time to stay competitive is ridiculous. It's a freaking match-3 game. Why do I need to block off an hour before a tournament ends to get any meaningful ranking? This isn't an MMO! I don't want to attend pre-scheduled raids! I want to play a round of super-hero bejeweled while I'm in the car!

Gotta say I am getting more stunned daily. I did go ahead and sold my thor and wolvie and put the iso into ither characters two of which are now at 100+. Ok so far. Excited about reshaping my team.

Saw a new stage starting and hoped I could at least past the three fights I did last time. Went into the level 160 and got sniped dead in 5 moves. Tried a couple more times and boom, same thing.

So prolog has been completed for awhile but can't seem to win a single battle in any events.

Folks, hate to say it but you need to roll your code base back to about a month ago and slow down with the economical changes until you can stabilize.

Will try and check in once a day but wow.
  • Yeah those people saying that thor and wolverine are the ultimate combo have no idea what they are talking about. thor and wolvie combo maxed out dies in 5 turns. I just tried it like 4 times. My entire team is now dead. I'm pretty sure i could beat anyone WITH boosts. Without boosts though, good luck getting anything. ISO is the most i can hope for 90% of the time. As usual. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

So would you suggest that they invert the HP and ISO rewards? The higher you place, the better your covers, the lower you place, the more HP and ISO you gain to promote leveling characters. The HP reward would be tricky but it would allow new players to gain ISO and HP for levels to compete with higher level teams or spend the HP to upgrade skills or gamble at gaining covers.

If you're not hardcore, get out. That seems to be the message the devs are saying.

    ^ This.

    ^ And this.

    Times infinity.

I downloaded MPQ because I love Marvel. And I really dug the original Puzzle Quest. Paid $30, owned the game and had hours of enjoyment, thru several different character builds. Furthermore, I didn't need to spend another dime to keep enjoying it, whenever I wanted.

But this game. This game doesn't just want your hard-earned dollars. It wants your time, too. And every update, it wants more and more and more. It's literally bordering on being a MMO.

Life's too short to be investing this much time and money into a match-three title. Hell, I can buy Bejeweled for $5.00 and pretend I'm fighting Galactus.

I bet in bejeweled pretend Galactus has equivalently strong powers as real MPQ any1

Nah, he's just the voice that says, "No More Moves."

Actually that makes a lot of sense. Highly competitive players are happy because they get new covers to test while filthy casuals are happy because they finally get to be able to max out a group that helps them be more competitive. As it stands, once the enemy gets 4 yellows (2 turns) they set of a tile that deals 2600 damage to me. 2600 damage for 4 yellows! The best I can do is 1000 damage for 8 reds. What the hell is this? It's not like the enemy needs to match yellows too. It's just given to them like free healthcare. I guess i wouldn't complain too much if thor could do 1000 damage for 3 reds or something.

As good as the idea sounds, it has the potential to backfire. If you increase the lower rewards of ISO and HP, then you get players gunning again for the lower ranks. This is taking into consideration the complaints recently of how hard it is to gain ISO, and considering that HP is the premium currency, with boosts and shields using that as payment, then you completely defeat wanting to get higher to begin with in the leaderboard. Not saying it isn't bad, but it would need to be done.... delicately, in order to be a viable structure to implement.
