Matchmaking satisfaction poll

We all knew a poll would come about sooner or later regarding the new matchmaking system. Well here you go! You may choose 2 options from the list. It's assumed you will choose one of the top 10 then one of the bottom 3 as that would make the most sense. I look forward to seeing where the community stands on this issue.
The first 4 options are for players with less than 300 days under their belt and the next 4 are for players with more than 300 days. I feel this should polarize the results between 2-3* and 4* transitions well enough to see a result. If you would like any changes to be made let me know. I have made it possible to change your vote should anything change.
*EDIT* I added 2 more options based on feedback. You can now say it's harder but not too hard.

Your poll is biased. Obviously I noticed a difference but I'm not going to vote for "it's too hard". You need 2 more options, 1 each for less than and more than 300 days for "The change seems fine to me", or "it's harder but I don't care".
I cast a vote for "my PvP play will not change" but I suspect it will actually be more since more effort is needed to place.0 -
I wouldn't say its "biased" but I have added 2 new options that should give you an option as well. The play more or play less options are supposed to take into account the amount of time needed to climb due to health packs or difficulty as well not just because you don't want to play anymore.
*EDIT* Ack no more changes will be made as I didn't know that in changing the poll all votes are deleted0 -
Nah. The poll is incredibly biased. To be fair, polls are terrible on here beyond asking a simple question. This is something that really needs multiple parts.
1. How long have you been playing?
2. How many level 166 characters or higher do you have?
3. How have the changes impacted your pvp?
4. Are you satisfied with the changes?
5. (Open ended) What changes would you make?
They knew scoring would be lower with the new changes which is why they made changes to the progression rewards in pvp. I'm not happy with the change but mostly because it creates a big bottle neck around 500 or so points.0 -
Well it's made to answer a simple question. Do you like the new PvP system. The extra parameters are simply to get a small feel for where you are in the game. A poll is the only tool we have on this forum aside from simply asking the question and there are already about 100 topics devoted to general hate or love of the new system but no poll yet. This is simply to see where everyone's head is at. I don't see how giving 10 options encompassing all possible answers is considered "bias" but to each his own. The definition of bias is as follows: prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
Now if I had made the options:
I hate this PvP
It's too hard
Booooo D3 this is dumb
Im a 4* player and I rule all
Then yeah bias but if i had simply made 2 options of "I like it" or "I hate it" that defeats bias.0 -
Dude. This poll would fail in freshman stats, get over it. There's zero consideration that time in they game doesn't inherently mean you have a strong team but that could be just that vets truly are that disconnected from the transition and the non forum goers. You needlessly inflated the choices with a non answer of I don't play pvp three times when it could have easily been a prerequisite to the poll itself.
Finally, the massive selection bias makes these polls about controversial changes almost pointless. Most of the people who are going to flock to the forums after something like an mmr change are going to be negative. You might as well just make a post saying that the changes are negative because the people who like the changes most likely aren't even going to be the ones coming to the forum.
For the record, I'm pretty unhappy with the mmr changes but I don't need to pretend that a poll on the forum filled with people who are also annoyed about the change is going to prove any point but that there's a concentration of annoyed forum goers and you hardly need a poll to know that.0 -
Would you like to make an unbiased poll about whether my poll is bias?0
-
How? My second paragraph specifically pointed out that forum polls on controversial changes in the game are nearly useless because, even if we had great polling tools, it wouldn't matter because the forum population is massively weighted towards vets and those who are motivated enough to even come to the forums.
Just make a post about why the MMR changes are bad rather than pretending like a forum poll means much of anything.0 -
Well the very fact that it's controversial means that there are 2 sides to the arguement. If the fact that people don't like the changes brings them to the forum to voice their opinion that shouldn't disqualify them from clicking a simple button, to give those that don't feel like making a big post, a voice. So what you're saying is because people coming to the forum are disgruntled their opinions shouldn't be quantified? And do you honestly believe d3 goes through each of the positive and negative posts and counts each + or - reaction to a change? Yeah polls aren't perfect but they are the easiest way to show where the people who care enough about the game to check the forum stand. I'm just using the only tool we have to try and give a number either way. If you don't like it then don't vote. Simple0

I don't really like the "too hard, too easy" part of your questions. Its just less diversity and more boring. Now there is no play at all to not play your top teams. If you do, you drop like a rock.
They claim they want diversity, yet they keep making changes that limit diversity.0 -

That's what I'm feeling too brother. I usually like to test other teams as I climb just to see what the defensive response is but this PvP system makes that impossible because I have to bring my A-Team to every battle. I agree that this kills diversity and takes away from some of the fun of PvP.0 -
My only issue with responding to the poll is:
Are we talking about the matchmaking before the Hulk PVP, or including it?
Before Hulk = +300 days (500+), STILL a 2* to 3* transitioner, and loving it.
Including Hulk = Not so much love.

This is a gauge for the matchmaking system that is in place for the Hulk PvP0

Been playing for 181 days. 2 166 3* with 2 more 150+. Last season I made the leap from 600+ to 700+ pvp points with a couple 800+ finishes. For IM40 and Hulk, I'm back to 600+. I don't have a problem defeating my enemies, and actually don't mind facing a tougher challenge when I play. The difficulty I'm having is getting gang-banged every match I play. I started Hulk earlier than normal (lots of health packs needed), getting into a bracket at 450, but with leader only at 300. After 2 days, scores have just been going up and down. I was attacked many times before even hitting 200-300. I generally just use one shield at the end, when I have the score I want. Last night I shielded early in Hulk so I would have to slog as much this morning. In my second attack out of shields, to put me over 700, I lost 5 matches for -93 points. After a few more matches and depleting all of my health packs in the yo-yo progression, I actually had a further net loss. I finally made the realization that the regression in progress has actually made me feel like I'm no longer having fun (specifically only in the instance of the mentioned pvps using the readjusted mmr). It is definitely more of a time commitment, which considering my already generous commitment, I don't think I will be able to sustain. I guess my big criticism is the frequency of attacks (understand that it would go up since I'm not facing any 2* teams) and the associated point loss turning the events into a quicksand. It's great that they lowered the progression rewards, but they are even farther away than they were before.0

It's terrible when you have to spend a great deal of iso just to skip enough people to find one that may not immediately retaliate. I feel your pain brother. It used to be that I would gain iso from PvP but i seem to have reached a point where I at best break even considering how much skipping I'm doing just to find a decent point total.0

just finished the hulk event with grand score of 652 which was enough for top 20.
This score usually would of been 70-80th place so obviously new MMR having an effect0 -
Thank you running this poll. It's valuable in my opinion and the available options in the poll are well thought out and simply presented.0

Normally in PvP I would get in a few sessions of 300-400 points of climbing, and then try to push to 1000 in the last 10 hours if I needed the cover. The IM PvP showed that as soon as you break into the top 25, it is open season on you and you will get attacked repeatedly, making me very hesitant to try to climb much higher than 650.
This time around I am doing just enough to stay outside of T25 in my slice, so playing more frequently but for much shorter spurts. I am done with shielding after wasting 750 HP trying to get the 4thor blue in Iron Man, but will make a final push closer to the end time and see where that puts me. I expect not much farther than T25 because Hulk PvP is the most boring thing this game can throw at you, but we shall see.0 -
- > 300 days
- harder in some ways, easier in others. My ranking seems to be easier as people aren't trying as hard. Plus our MMR is messed up at the moment, so it's hard to tell.
-- too hard? not sure.
- Will probably play more PVP.
-- Will I like it? At the moment, yes, since I'm hitting rankings more easily. For the long term, have to wait and see.
Voted: I will play more PvP with this MMR.0 -
I thought Heavy Metal was just fine, but Smash Hit sucks. I blame 20k Hulks everywhere.0

I've been playing for 487 days now and I'm having a hard time voting for any of these options. My concerns are not so much that it's now harder to get to 1000+, it's about the decrease in variety of play along the way. With the old MMR I could try out a few different player combinations from 0 - 500 before I'd switch to my primary 3* and 4* teams. from 0 - 800 there was a good amount of variety along the way before facing the constant 4thor/featured/xforce teams from 800 - 1000+. With the new MMR I'm hitting pretty much the same combination for teams from 200 points on up. Not only does it get old fighting the same teams over and over again but since it's maxed teams starting almost right after the feeder teams there is no place to experiment with teams, so I too am using the same combinations of 4-5 characters over and over and over again.
The MMR is sucking the fun out of the game for me, and THAT is what bothers me the most. The way they changed the point loss system and matching just makes it worse. They lower the value of point loss per loss yet they change the match making so players with lower scores can queue up players with much higher scores so when they hit you you still lose the same amount of points as you did before. And since those lower score players are going to be fighting maxed out 3* and 4* teams so early in their journey up they will be going out of their way to hit the higher point value players ( I know I would). I'm guessing it will only take another event or two with this MMR before none of the vets bother to play early and just try to make late runs in the last 6-12 hours and if enough of us do that then there won't be anyone up there with high points to snipe at. Those that do hop up the point scale early are going to find it very difficult to hop, leaving everyone frustrated.
In short, it's a poorly implemented change that doesn't fix what they said it would for lower level players (based on what I've read on other posts) and makes the game repetitive and frustrating for the vets.0
