so how are people winning?
For a long time I have thought "who the heck is getting to the top of some of these events?" I have placed top 5 a few times, even first once or twice, and it seems the only way is to be able to get the timing right. Once I played a lightning round the entire 90 minutes, not stopping for anything and not needing any breaks to heal (thanks spidey!), and I still didn't make top 10. So who is out there who wins, and how are they doing it?
Now that we can spy on people, it gets even more confusing. The top players in my punisher bracket don't even have high level characters. The guy at #2 has no characters above lv 40. How is that possible?
I am not complaining, I am just genuinely confused and trying to learn more about the game. Any thoughts?

Same questions here. #1 in my bracket has 4 total cards. A 77 wolvie, 46 im40, 41 spidey and 37 ares many without full covers. I can chalk it up to gettung seed teams as new player but its hard to imagine bc he cant possible churn thru enough matches with only 4 total low level guys
Looking at avengers elite top 10 and there are 2 who look like they have no way they can be top10 with that team.0 -
There is a lot of cheating going on and as usual, the devs are turning a blind eye to it...0

Look at the top guys in the Avengers Event.0

I'll say this. Last night I was racing up my.punisher rank alongside someone else. When I got to around 780 I saw him and his team.finally. it was pretty mediocre...something like 80 thor 60 wolvie 40 punisher or something like that. About the same time that happened I started seeing more ppl in the 500-600 range with similar or even weaker teams. So I will say a lot of it is mmr related.0

I've won top place in all my Subevents for Thick as Thieves (doing only two refreshes), However I will likely not have a top 100 placement in the main event (not really interested in Daredevil).
I placed 2nd in the first Army of One tourney (someone with 3 maxed 3* characters powered to 1003 points, leaving me at 830). Second Tourney i'm not really trying since i don't need the covers (other than 1st place) so i'm aiming for top 150 without shields just to get the free HP points.
I had similar performance in the past Hulk and Bullseye PVE events.
I'm a F2P player, I try not to boost too much (i usually use +3 Purple/Blue and maybe some damage ones). My MMR is very high, i'm usually matched with lots of 3 100+ 3 3* teams.
I have a maxed 3/5/5 patch with 8 extra patch covers i'm considering making a second build (5/5/3) although not leveling it.
I've done this with an 85 2* wolv, 85 2* OBW, and 85 Ares, and now 93 Punisher and 90 Hulk. all my other covers are below 50.0 -
Levels affect MMR?0

How possible is it that this is because the developer is the one that is behind the cheating?
Without proper history stats for tournaments and leaderboards there is no way we could ever know.
One thing I have noticed since they now allow us to see other players rosters, is that the players I have always suspected to be the bots created by the developers such as B@conM@gic and BattleAngel do not display stats. Personally I did not even find this to be remotely odd, simply proving what I already knew.
I can't speak for anyone else but plenty of times, esp. in lightning rounds, I have gone into the final 2 minutes in what appeared to be a top 25 position(or whatever the current raking may be) and while winning my last match ended up with a ridiculous finish like top 200. I find it very unsettling that there is no way to justify this out come and this is one reason I refuse to give the developers any $$$0 -
It seems that a lot of us are in similar situations, placing high in subevents, or a tourney here or there, but somehow unable to compete with people possessing apparently inferior characters. Super strange. I guess I am just trying to treat it like it's all pve -- but that is next to impossible when even the pve events are competitive. I wish they would do more cover rewards for the missions, like they used to. Then you wouldn't have to obsess about overall ranking.
Are we even sure that B@conM@gic and BattleAngel are real?? I suspect they are fake accounts the devs put in to mess with us0 -

They're not real. They are used to inject points into the tournament.0 -

They are 'seed' teams. IceIX has talked about them before. B@ttle_@ngel is a particularly nasty one.0 -
Simple. If your mmr sucks you can climb as high as humanly possible and never be retaliated against. You cross a threshold that could literally be the difference from 1 win to the next, and boom, you become the community bicycle for a ride up the rankings.0

I wish people would type out what MMR is instead of just typing MMR out every few sentences and hoping someone will understand. idk my bff jill.0

It's the match making rating or something like that. It decides who you can attack and be attacked by basically.
So basically if you have a **** team you have an easier time? Good lord. I should sell everything then. I have a ton of characters I don't use. All my 1 stars for example. They're just lying there mooching off my space. None of them can survive more than 3 rounds in any current event either. I will be kicking myself if d3publisher all of a sudden makes 1 star only matches with 40000 golds as prizes.0 -

You're not immune to being seen by the higher level guys. It's less likely, but not immune. I was seeing guys with level 40 Modern Black Widow and level 50 Iron Man that are in the top 25s and they were a nice easy win. Now since they got up there the MMR must be working for them too, but you can't hide from the competition forever. I assume that guy must have shielded pretty quickly once he can be seen by teams with vastly superior roster, and I think that's a decent compromise.0 -

What are seed teams?
When you fight an actual player, you gain and they lose. With a seed team (which is just a bot account set up by the developer), you gain and the seed team doesn't lose, increasing the number of overall points available in the tournament that players can take from one another. Without them, every player would be stuck in a ~200 point range of each other, and no-one would hit any of the progression rewards at all.0 -

I can see in a world without seed teams, it'd be like "I saw TheReck at 300 rating, he must be hacking again."0 -
There should a list of who these seed teams are.0

It would still eventually settle around whatever the break-even point total is currently. 500ish?
It also reduces the amount attacks normal players would receive. It would be a little disappointing if the first two players to join the tournament could only find each other. (Not that these don't fill up with hundreds of players immediately.)0
