Did anyone actually scored above 1000 in Army of One?
In my bracket, no one scored above 820, with the top ranker at 810+.
The whole time, I never saw anyone above 1000. The highest I saw was 900+, and his team was like Lv 140s.
If anyone encountered different results, please tell?
Anyway, there are a few points that I will like point out.
Progression rewards:
When I had saw that they had unnerfed the Hero Points rewards at 1000, I was quite happy. I felt for once that the devs were listening.
Little did I realize, they were trolling us again. -_-'
Second-most recent updates to the PVP system:
The previous update prior to this allowed players to be attacked by others with far lower points. Thus, he could lose a lot of points in a very short amount of time. This change was never undone.
Fortunately, they lowered the cost of shields again, and also, the announced penalty for skipping opponents was never applied.
Unfortunately, there are many reported cases of forced continuous looping of the same stuck group of opponents no matter how many times you skip. This was never fixed.
Most recent updates to the PVP system:
I dare say the most recent updates not only failed to address previous problems, it broke the entire system even more.
To make matters worse, changes were invisible. No announcements nor patch notes were made.
First problem, reports of crazy gang b@nging. Check these topics for details.

Second problem, your team you used to retreat and yield no longer matters. Only your strongest team in the match win. This is the absolute worse change, because it means once you are stuck in MMR hell, you can NEVER get out, not even in death.
Shield leap-frogging no longer possible
From the reports of the above mentioned topics, I can personally say I encountered a similar situation, though I didn't get b@nged in the same way.
I was constantly getting attacked, at least once every 5-10 minutes. Yet the moment I shielded up, not one attack came in half an hour. It seems that shielding make us less visible to other players.
If I hadn't know better, I'd say the devs intentionally do not want a leap-frogging of Shield users to get progression rewards. And it worked. I never saw one person who hit above 1000.
MMR Hell
This is THE absolute worst change ever. You CAN'T put up a tanking team any more. You can't get gang b@nged at will. You can't lower your MMR.
WELCOME TO HELL.
At least this game is fair. It screws all of us.
BTW, I saw Bugpop a few times. And my team is nowhere near his power. That's how screwed up my MMR is right now.
Positive effects
The one positive effect that I have noticed from these current changes. Now, due to less frequency of getting attacked while you are less than 400 points, it is more ideal to start a slow steady grind from the start, then push hard when you are near the end.
Unlike before, which was do nothing for 2 days, then push like mad at the last 2 hours of the tourney.
So people who grind patiently do better. It is better than a mad rush at the last hour imho.

I got up to around 800 with 1 day left and put up a shield. I think if i tried and grinDed it out without being attacked I could have hit 1000. It's just when you get that high, everybody sees those juicy 30+ points and will attack you0

I went to 250 for the token then dropped to the 3x standard token range. This was my least favorite pvp event so far. **** rewards and I just wasn't feeling it. Focusing more attention on the Pve event. Hopefully the next pvp event comes out a little more appealing.0

I'm finish top 1/2 in every Pve sub bracket. More patches than I know what to do with.0 -

I wish I could drop back down. Can't put up a tank team and I only get attacked 2 or 3 times with the team I use to progress. (60 Punisher/85 Wolvie/85 OBW)0 -
I asked this question in the main Army of One thread, but probably does no harm being it's own topic.
In my own case, I peaked at 957 (I think), before being knocked down to 871. I shielded for 24 hours at that point (w/16.5 hrs to go), and it was enough to win the bracket. I achieved this early on Sunday morning UK time (about a 2 hour run from approx 10am), when it seems to be a lot quieter for grinding. Running a squad of max level Punisher (141), Spidey (141) and Magneto (141), occasionally subbing Magneto for Iron Man 40 (141 also) for variety.
Did not get hit at all from 0 to approx 850, then the attacks started. The odd one at first, but then a spate of them at my peak score (from peeps in the 100-200 pt range - so daft that this has been allowed!)
I did consider whether it was worth putting up a shorter length shield to possibly sneak back in and get some quick points to boost to 1000, but given that the prize at that level was 100 HP, it did not make economical sense at all - i.e. a 50 HP shield to win 100, but then would have needed at least 200 HP worth of shield to guard those points from there. Reading the horror stories from people who tried to do this, further vindicates my decision! I also figured 871 would be good for a 2-5 spot, which is ideally what I wanted - I tend to be a late starter in brackets, rather than playing as soon as it is available.
Would really like to see the analysis from anyone who managed 1000+
Edit - did not run boosts until the final hour or so of my push, in retrospect, maybe that cost me0 -
@Theladder
Fortunately I didn't see you at all during the match lol. Otherwise would have died in a heart attack lol.
I saw bugpop, and I think one of the Psykos (can't remember which one). Using my 85 team. Tinykitty this MMR hell ****, dammit.0 -

The thing is, even against three 141s, it's not that scary at all if you have a decent level team and use boosts. So, I'm not scaring people off, especially when I'm worth a juicy 40-50 points. Not saying I necessarily should (heck, I sure have it better than some lol), but just demonstrating that it's hard for even top level player to get out of this current MMR hell.0 -
I finished #1 at 860 or so; because of the shield change, you can abuse 3hr shields and short pushes to barely get attacked at all. For awhile, me and the #2 guy were jumping over each other, and nobody attacked either of us. However, you can bet if we had stayed unshielded for more than 5 minutes, we'd start getting slammed.
Overall, I hate the changes; even though shields are back to half price, you're forced to spend more on them to be competitive. There's no point to grinding or playing in the first day, and there's a lot of luck involved in progressing past MMR hell. The one thing I do like is that they're getting rid of tanking. I'd prefer if people got ahead by playing the game rather than playing the system.0 -

I suppose if you badly wanted the 1200 reward, for instance, that strat may be worth it. But I dread to think how much HP would be needed to get there.
I'm with you on tanking, but would have much rather they fixed matchmaking (or at least improved it) first.0 -
Peaked at 815 and shielded when waves of attacks started rolling in. This was already 200 points over the 3rd place in my bracket. 2nd overtook me at some point, but I didn't want to play who got more HP for breaking shields for the IW cover.
I haven't seen anybody in my MMR above 1000, rarely over 900 even. I had to fight a lot < 20 points gained because of the lack of targets.0 -
Trolled to the max by the change. The moment I unshield is the moment buffet starts(for people who starts playing in the last few hours). I could actually end up having lesser points than if I had not unshield in a matter of minutes.. -.-!!!0

So guys, can I start a flame topic now?
It's FLAME TOPIC, NOT WHINE TOPIC!!
So can I start a flame topic that points out the idiotic spastic **** changes made by the less-than-sane devs?
I mean, what were they thinking?
We just screwed everyone in the tourneys. Let's screw them again in the **** a second time just for the lolz! And then we troll them by giving them rewards they can never get!0 -

I don't think there's any use in that.
Demiurge_Will I believe it was made a statement about progression rewards being unreachable.
It was fixed yet apparently too easily reachable in the next 1.
Tweaks are being made and they had a negative impact this time but I imagine next pvp event rewards will be more within reach than they are now.0 -

Apart from the introduction of the Shield function, name me one change they did that didn't screw us in the ****.
They're screwing us on purpose, I tell you.0 -

Yeah, I had one such team, maybe yours stored on a button for long saved up for a push. Eventually decided not to use it, but could take it down no problem with regular medium stuff.
I also played without boosts until the last push, way much more fun that way. Before the tournament thought to get my final punisher cover, but turned out nonreachable pretty soon.0 -

Reducing the timers on the health packs (and handing them out as rewards) were favorable changes.
But, you're right. The majority of the changes have been to squeeze the user.0 -

Yeah, that seem the viable strategy, while shielded prepare 3 good battles, play for 5 mins maximum clearing those, maybe 1-2 more, shield back like crazy. Wait for 1-2 hours then repeat. Though you still reach the cap pretty soon, as majority of players on top are shielded and not shown, leaving just the 1-pointers.0
