  • Eh, I refuse to be quite so cynical. He could have just said, "it's all about the money," but he didn't. He talked about overall enthusiasm, forum excitement, online reviews, etc. So if we're ignoring the fact that people are unlikely to go out and buy a bunch of IW covers if she gets buffed, there's still plenty of that other stuff that her overhaul could generate.

Seriously. Yeah, I'll give it a shot before I pass judgment, but I have strong concerns about the viability of three characters on my roster going forward, and one of my friends is even more pessimistic than I am. Magneto was previously a key part of my ability to pass *any* of the cover fights in Deadpool's Daily, and with this nerf, I just don't know if I'm going to be able to achieve those cover rewards any longer. As a mid-level player trying to improve my stable of 3* characters, I can't even tell you how much that hurts.

Registered for the sole purpose of wholeheartedly agreeing with this paragraph.

The release of the Deadpool dailies gave me a feeling that I could *finally* start making some headway with what three star characters I do have on my roster and, with that, my previously waning interest in this game was re-ignited to play every day levels.

My current 'best' characters are level 94 Widow (Original) Magneto Now, Cap, Thor, and Wolverine AXM. I would pair Mags with Widow to feed her heal and drag out timers as needed to allow whichever damage dealer (usually Thor) to put down the bad guys.

After playing with the current neutered Magneto Now, any hope I did have of being able to progress is quickly fading and with it, my interest in playing.

And I can't even feel angry at the Mystique players for screwing it up for the rest of us, because they were just making best use of what looks to be a broken power mechanic placed in the live game.

And that ain't the players' fault.
  • Widow Magneto Thor should still beat the pants off DDQ. You can still feed blue to counter the CDs and heal your guys, except now you get bonus red for Thor (or AX Wolverine).

You have too few 2*s is one problem, you need at least 3 more off this list: Hawkeye, Ares, Daken, Ms. Marvel, Jonny Storm, Storm. Basically these plus the ones you have pick 8. That's your 2* roster. Then start going for combos, like Hawkeye/Thor/MNM or OBW/Ares/Ms. Marvel or Storm/MNM/Daken (yes stormneato still works it is just slower).

The ordinary dailies are no problem. The Big Enchilada mission to get the cover is the one that matters and which was, before today, a challenge. Though a manageable one. Today that mission has taken Widow/Mag/Thor out behind the proverbial woodshed more times than I care to count.

I do appreciate the roster recommendation but it's taken as long as it has just to obtain covers and max out the 2 stars that I have; I really don't relish the idea of trying to grind out covers and ISO to cap out the six others you recommend.

Especially since I have had and pitched a number of them for sucking (Hawkeye back when all his pink skill did was get team mates killed etc.)

    O! The irony. Right?

No. For the big enchilada all you need among 2*s is Thor, Mags, Cstorm. You'll take a few more hits building up your combo - let Thor tank those, once you get rolling you win. Just tried it today post change.

A lot of people say Mag's red is good, and it is, but depending on the board I often prefer to save it up and spam Thor's red to refresh the yellow on the board. Never use call the storm except as a finisher - collect 25-30 green and let cstorm nuke the board. I also like to use polarity shift to convert useless colours (black) to blue before lightning storm. It works for me. The last wave never gets to make a single move.
  • Yea of everyone on the list I mentioned (note I did say pick 3 of the 6) Storm (Classic) is probably the must have. With her, even at 11 blue for a 4 turn stun, you should be able to win.

Survival nodes come down to 1 thing, gather AP on the goon waves (killing last one with an ability), spend it all on the hero waves.
  • I am not posting this to bad-mouth or challenge the devs. Putting things in perspective- I still enjoy this game a lot, even after the nerfs. I am a competitive everyday player that would shell out a few bucks every couple of weeks so that I could keep up with roster spots.

My concern now is spending any more money at all on this game. And I thought I would bring that to your attention because if enough people feel that way then this game won't last for long.

The running theme here that would get a lot of appreciation if addressed head-on is how when characters are "toned down", it often seems to be from usuable to barely playable. You can disagree all you want and show us numbers, but it's real. I can't financially endorse your game if what I am paying for eventually turns into a worse version of itself. Just apply this logic towards anything you love as a hobby.

Maybe I am being dramatic? At the end of the day, this is just a game. It's just extremely frustrating when it seems like you guys are so harsh on "toning down" characters or quite rash in releasing them before they are fine-tuned.

Hey Devs, I thought you promised that 4Thor would still be fun.

    You lied.

For fun today I ran MNM/Storm/Hawkeye for my DDQ cover and they crushed it. 94s are totally capable of beating it.

Thor/Mags/Storm is the way to go for "Stormneto" now imo.

Hawkeye is fine too, but maybe a little too gimmicky? He was extremely effective before because you got a million Speed Shot CDs from one Polarity Shift. It's still good, but nowhere near as good.

Daken is a third option for this setup, as he covers Purple for Magneto. Gives you a little more breathing room, damage wise.

Of course they are. The board can kill anyone, even 270s. The point is, 94s can win it and claiming it's "unbeatable" is just not true.

I actually think Hawkeye is better than Thor. At least for Survival nodes. Before with the "million" speed shots you made the board devoid of purple on a single use of Polarity Shift. Now you leave enough behind to just keep rolling purpleflag.png MNM -> purpleflag.png Hawkeye -> blueflag.png Storm and redflag.png Hawkeye. Plus Storm's green is better used for AP gathering than using that green on CtS unless it's to finish the game. I'm sure Thor/Storm/Mags still works, just not my preference.

    Devs,

So I've played with MNMagneto and still don't like the change. The loss of those two tiles has really put a crimp in his style. My first request is that he be reinstated to his full glory. However, since I doubt that's gonna happen, I have a couple compromisies in mind.

    1) Lower the cost for Iron Hammer or reduce the CD tile a couple rounds. This should be a no brainer since the likely reason for the original configuration of Polarity Shift was to feed IH.

    2) Give control of tile placement for both Iron Hammer & Magnetic Flux to the player. This will allow the new red tiles from PS to be more pertinent, ie, faster. (I don't know about anyone else but I like to make sure the board is clear of possible matches before I use any random tile placement abilities.) This will also increase the effect of both powers since the AI usually places these tiles against the boarder which halves their effect on board shake-up (and damage in the case of IH) -- at least this has been my experience.

These changes will bring MNMags back into his own without over-powering him or creating any game unbalancing combos. Most important, he will be fun to play again.

    What do you think?
