If you're just looking for an easy 1k, shard 4 is full of heavy hitters...
If you want placement stay away, far away...
Prof X is a serious wildcard, man...
I love ...0 -
I was unfortunate enough to run into an invisible Xavier loving AI match. the purple tile was wedged in an island with nary a purple color nearby. I had to keep making matches on the rows/columns above the pesky tile hoping I'll get more purple on the board. Finally, the board was shaken up when no 3 match was available and the new board presented enough purples to match the invisible tile. By that time I had accumulate 20-30 APs of every color. and killed off Xavier before he can go into his 22 purple to fire off another invisible tile. Took me seven minutes to finish that match. Thankfully, no one hit me. phew.0

And now I can do better in the PVE
I got a blue prof X from my 300 prog token as well. Good times.0 -
Had a 15 min match. invis tile in a corner. Finally cleared it with a match 4... a and he cast it again. Took a lot of time but when a match 4 finally presented that would get it, I let him take it, and then chuck ate a well deserved surgical strike. If it weren't a strong regeneration character that'd have been a loss for sure. Very annoying.0

I have to report invisible Xavier annoyance too. AI had tons of purple stored up so while I could occasionally match his invisibility tile he would just cast it again. My X-Forces green kept missing it too and the match kept dragging on until opponent matched the invis tile on their own. Unfortunately I was in a middle of a shield hop and I got attacked 3 times because of that. I would advice having some sort of team up that can deal with invisible Xavier horror or you could get burned too.0

i thought the tile generation was random but in this event, there are bucket loads of 5 match combos. it dries up when i play a lot of matches but when i take big breaks, again i am smothered with 5 match combos. wonder if they tweaked this to showcase prof x's blue power?0

need a group power like call the storm or something to whack the invisible bugger0 -

I've had 2 defense wins and I'm pretty sure it is because people are expecting the blue default cover or a single purple and not a 0/2/0.0 -
Team attacks do hit X when he's invisible. Zapping the invisibility tile with a l5 lcap power works too.0

Really? I got hit by two minor team attacks in the Heroic and he didn't seem more damaged than he already was, but I could have been wrong.0

with the 1k prog reward that puts mine at a whopping 0/4/0. This is complete nonsense. Might skip the 1k now. How am I looking at re-specing him already?0 -

Yeah, I can't find it right now, but there's a quote from one of the devs on here that states that invisible characters are hit by team damage because that doesn't target them specifically (kind of like how it works in Magic:The Gathering with the shroud ability).
I can also personally attest to it from getting a high level supernova in the face in the heroic. Charles was inviz, but went down as well.
Weirdly enoygh, he is immune to team stun, though.0 -
This is reminding me of how much I hate pvp. I'm going to keep retaliating, but I think I"m going to stop attacking people otherwise. PVP in this game is just terrible. Really, the worst thing ever. It might be different if I could come out of a single battle without having been attacked, but the effort just isn't worth it in this one.
I think, if it weren't for my alliance, I might just completely quit PVP. I don't enjoy it. It's just a terrible game mode. Does anyone actually enjoy it?0 -

Considerably more than playing PvE for 7 days, in the same however many events that have existed since last year, with the mostly unchanged same opponents over and over.
I mean, putting up close to 1050+ and wondering if I'll even hold a top 25 spot is kinda brutal, but overall I generally enjoy the challenge of scoring high without the offline coordination. I think the addition of boosted characters adding variety will only help, even if 'variety' only means different partners for XForce for the time being.0 -

I'm hoping it gets better. But the "mostly unchanged same opponents over and over" is every bit as true in PVP as it is in PVE. And at least in PVE, it's easier to space things out.
I think one of the problems is that DDQ makes PVP look like a huge waste of time for almost no reward, the same way some people compare PVP and PVE. And in PVE, I can take easy and still place top 50. Right now, you pretty much have to shield to place top 50 in PVP, and it's not worth it to shield when you don't need any of the covers. PVE is much more enjoyable to me, and much less frustrating.0 -

I have no argument - fighting the 270 twins ad nauseum does get annoying, but they're considerably easier to beat than the 270 Ares or Daken that pop up.
DDQ is a nice supplement but using a recent example, one cover for Cyclops from DDQ helped, but getting 3 from the PvP was considerably more helpful. As was getting the 4th red Thor (too little too late of course) in that event. Yeah, I took an HP loss for the event (-275), but getting a 4* cover is well worth the expense. Same spend I used to get a Prof X cover this event.
Grabbing the data for 2015, my average PvP right now is a little over 40 battles. (still wish I tracked score per battle, maybe eventually I will). Anyway, 40 battles for what usually amounts to 4-5 covers (I'm usually above 900 unless it's disastrous) seems like a decent investment in time, and because of the nature of it, HP. Especially compared to 40 PvE battles, which amounts to barely a full clear of a sub.0 -

I think that's part of my problem - I don't get covers from most PVPs, simply because I need so few covers. Most are just ISO and a bit of HP. That way the best comparison is DDQ and LRs for me. I know it's a first-world MPQ problem, but it also makes me think someone who doesn't have a developed roster also isn't getting much from these.
I could theoretically get 4* covers I need, but they're just not worth the headache of crossing 1000, especially since the cooldown times mean I can only really do it on certain Sunday ones. So I dont bother shielding at all.0 -

1000 is not that difficult to cross with your roster. You must have to plan ahead a little, for the timing of shields. I can typically reach 1k with 2 - 3 shields....the remaining shields are only meant to keep my score steady until end of pvp.
300 - 450 HP for a 4* cover of your choice is quite worth kr, imho. My GT was acquired mainly through progression reward since I had terrible luck with 4* tokens pull.
It helps if you have a decently levelled featured character.0 -

I can do it - I have done it a few times - it's just a lot of trouble. And it's not fun. It's stressful, and frustrating, and annoying. And it's very difficult to arrange, time-wise, unless it's the PVP that ends Sunday, due to my work schedule. If I want to finish Goddess Thor I'll just buy her last three covers after day 550. I'll only need (at most) three then, I've got way more than I'd need saved up, and it's only about 50 days off.0 -

Yup. Invisible Charles has been receiving plenty of Rage of the Panthers from me. I'm not afraid of that purple tile.0
