A discussion for the best players in the game(or anyone)
Attention everyone.
I have been asked by my alliance to do this post. We would like your thoughts on below. So all the X-men, Crewsaders, Skynet alliance and more. Please give us your thoughts:
Topic: Proffesor X being too op.
For those of you who have'nt had the privilege or misfortune rather I should say of fighting a maxed level Proffesor X(ie a 445 lvl 270 xavier), he almst flattens even the best team set ups in the game. Once he goes invisible in the game the enemy is toast.
Not to mention a multiple tile cascade where two or three 5-tile- matches can kill even the might Thoress if setup well.
So who has any ideas on how to stop the brainy Proffesor when he goes invisible? We found that ares red can still damage him but let's be honest a lvl 94 ares can't do anything at a higher level in PVP.
Who can help us think of ways to hurt Xavier.
Cmon use your brains(get it ).
Thanks.

Uh... just kill him with X-Force right away. If he gets an invisibility tile out, you have 2 board shake abilities to get rid of it.
Xavier doesn't strike me as overpowered in PvP at all. Might be annoying in his one PvP event, but that's about it.0 -
what happens if he is invisible and you take out the other 2 characters? does he remain invisible?
if he is indeed still invisible when he is the last character then 4Thor blue won't stun him? that could be a problem.
Last hope is XF green to randomly take out tiles on the board, hoping to get his purple tile.0 -
Special tiles generally don't stick around very long, unless you get a really unlucky placement and have no board shake abilities. Don't overthink this.0

Any time a decent charecter comes out everyone screams "OP, OP!"
Granted some have been, and granted Charles can really do some damage and pack a wholop. But on deffence he isn't going to be OP becuase AI is dumb, as we all know. And' he's not a GT or Xforce for offence. I suspect he will be a fan favorite in PvE for sure, and he'll be used in PvP, but I don't see a PX / GT or PX / XF wall any time soon...but I could be wrong. From hearing some other people's take on him, and judging from hearing what he can do maxed out, I think he's fine where he is.
But from reading about the damage and defence possiblities I suspect a nerf will come. I mean just becuase he's one of the most powerful beings in the MU doesn't save him from being leveled down so he's compatible with the rest of the "meh" 4*'s, becuase apparently having a strong 4* isn't allowed.0 -
In the hands of the AI he just isnt that dangerous. The AI actually deprioritizes (is that a word?) the match five in favor of a four, so it takes some pretty special board layout for them to hit one. If he gets invisibility out...just board shake. If you dont have XF, try bringing along an Unstoppable Crush TU. Cheap way to destroy lots of tiles, and get potential cascades.0
-
In the hands of the AI, Goddess wasn't all that dangerous either. I'm urging everyone not to get too attached, because while I don't personally think he's OP, he IS good, probably the best 4* next to Xforce. And whales gonna whale, so you're gonna see a lot of him. It won't be too long after they put Thor down before we start to see these pages blow up with calls for nerfs, just because people can't be bothered with learning how to beat him. We saw the same thing with Thor. 16,000 HP is kind of intimidating, but in reality, she's really not that scary on defense, and neither is the Professor. Now, if they tweak the AI so that it makes 5-of-a-kind matches in L-shapes or T-shapes, we're all doomed, but *fingers crossed* they never do that0

Haven't seen him yet, but I'd pick Hulk for his board clear and Anger just in case Prof X's special tiles get out of hand. Loki for similar reasons.0

No need to have Hulk, just bring a board clear TU.0 -
I have limited input on him as my Xavier is 355 build but only level 167 so I can't take full advantage of tanking yet.
That said, he's slow on offense especially without a lucky board or crit generating engine.
Simply setting up some tiles, going invisible and having Xavier match tiles to buff them to the moon is time consuming. Especially since the offensive buffs aren't felt until the FOLLOWING turn giving the enemy a chance to waste your turn.
The fact that his invis tile is randomly placed on a purple means it can easily backfire. You really have to spend your game protecting that tile as best you can.
That said, Xavier can and WILL win you a game you had no right winning. I've already won a match with Xavier at 90 health, the rest of my party dead and him soloing a near dead Juggernauth, a full health Daken and full health Venom (all around level 170). It took like 10 minutes but in the end I had a single protect and attack tile whose strength were 3653 each.
That's not the kind of speed that screams OP in competitive play. It also relied on well over a dozen turns where the AI couldn't match the key tiles to my victory (since re-casting purple doesn't create new tiles to beef up).
My initial impressions of Xavier is that he's a lot of fun, pretty slow, and probably annoying on defense. I'd value him along Nick Fury tier of usefulness. Not a must have character by any means but certainly useful and a blast to play.
Once my Xavier tanks more colours I'll be able to offer more input on him and be able to seriously try him out with crit generators as well.
Counters to Xavier:
- Cut off purple
- Special tile destroyers (Loki's Black, Daredevil's Purple, Thor's Yellow)
- Board shakers to help destroy/match stop invis tile
- Captain America
- Strong AoE damage post invis (Sentry green, Deadpool, etc)0 -

If you're really worried about Professor X bring some 1* Hawkeye TUs. 7 TU AP to clear any row you want. Like other supports, I'd just kill him first though.0
-
He is essentially a mono-colour character. Literally deny purple and you've got his passives, of which only the blue (which is very unlikely to fire from the ai) has any significant impact to worry about.
A fast team like XFist would get benefit from the denied purple and shred his health incredibly quickly, well before he does anything meaningful (barring lucky crit matches for the ai).
Alternatively lets go for a somewhat niche counter to a somewhat niche hero! Use Starlord vs him. Starlord makes good use of purple on denial, over half kills him on either a red or purple resolving CD tile and if an invis tile goes out, just overwrite it with SL's purple (I assume you can overwrite invis tiles, never tested it)!
Probably easiest just to shred him with Xforce.0 -

My birthday was last month and my family gifted me $100.00 credit on steam. I opted to save it for the next HP sale in MPQ. Rather than spend B-Day money on boring roster slots I choose to have fun and max out a Xavier. I had already won 4 of his covers for getting top 5 in the PvE.
He's not a strong enough character to where I'd recommend rushing out to buy his covers but I choose to spoil myself rather in this game rather than add to my steam backlog of games, lol.0 -
Elektra. Her purple will allow you to deny Xavier purple, and when his yellow goes off you have a nice strike tile to steal. If he gets his purple off anyways, her purple has a good chance of overwriting it with her own.0

He is a good character but his slow progress doesnt guarantee quick hops so its a decent balance
Any board shaker could get rid of that, getting a juggs tu wouldnt be hard0
