Never again D3

First off, yes, I'm going to complain about the nerfs. Stop reading now if you've had enough of that already.
But I have that right, I'm a paying customer. Well, I was. You folks will never see another dime from me. Over the course of the first year, I spend a little here and there, mostly for roster slots, because I liked the game and I played it a lot. I had never bought a cover, because I liked chasing the carrot, it gave me something to work towards. But when the positive changes of late started to come in, I decided that I wanted to support the game a little more because it was actually getting better. When Deadpool's Daily Quest started, I was thrilled. I decided that it was time to drop some dollars in a show of support for the game, so I bought 4 covers to max out my Goddess, something I was perfectly fine waiting on till I had earned them from events or hit the lottery on tokens. And how do you reward my (and countless other customers) support? You slap us in the kitty face. It's like Rick James just showed up and ground his feet into our couch. Hundreds (at least, probably more in the thousands) of players and more importantly CUSTOMERS bought covers for that character, and you just took the value of what you sold them and made it worthless. That's borderline robbery, and I don't understand how you can expect to run a business that way. Why would I ever support your efforts if what I buy has no lasting value?
I'm still going to play your game. At the end of the day, it's still a fun time sink while I catch up on shows on Netflix or on breaks at work. But never again will you receive any money from me, because now I know that nothing I could possibly buy from you has any actual value. I'm probably done with PvE events now, because Goddess was the only thing that gave me a fighting chance against lvl 300+ Dark Avengers, and now that that has been removed, I don't see myself having a chance at placing well, so why even bother playing them at all? But that's getting into a whole other issue of AI scaling, so I'm not going to go there. I just want you folks to know that you just lost a paying customer, and I doubt very much I'm the only one. Keep this up and you're not going to have any of them left.

Def, make that two!0
-
Make that three, except I'm going to delete the game and find something more productive to do with my time.0
-
She at least made the load screen finally, if that makes you feel better.0
-
Make that four, they wont get my money either again, i've spent more than i should have.0
-
Five. I've had enough of being robbed. No more.0
-
To everyone that is saying good buy, this is how you do it, you make your actions speak for you. Just saying you were going to spend money means 2 things to them, diddly and squat.
Personally I am staying.0 -
Six, this will be my last season.0
-
+1 here. I usually buy something when the HP sales come in (usu. $20), but don't see that happening anymore. It helps that I've been HP positive the last couple of seasons too.0
-
I'll still play but never again pay... But summer is coming so it's time to put down the phone and enjoy the weather.0
-
Totally agree there, a really dumb move, i was working on the 4* even the useless ones as Elektra, considered putting cash on some covers and finally move in a more deep 4* territory but this **** moves prove that they are more worried into punishing this than to encourage it, so no way i bother running behind those chars, they will nerfed no matter how useful they seem0

I can't beat some of these "normal" nodes with my stormneto and hawkeye team (scaling), but now you're making my favorite team weaker and less fun. Boo on that! It's just going to make me buy more health packs if I want to be successful. I didn't share the feelings of those I've seen leave over nerfs in the past, but now I do. Please reverse this and find another way to fix Mystique/Mags, unless you are just trying to squeeze more money from us. If that's the case, good to know what matters.0

I understand your frustration and I was following along with you perfectly well, until you threw the phrase "borderline robbery" out there.
It's nothing like that, quite frankly. Quite frankly, it falls drastically short of every part of the definition of robbery.
rob·ber·y/ˈräb(ə)rē/
noun
the action of robbing a person or place.
rob/räb/
verb
take property unlawfully from (a person or place) by force or threat of force.
So lets examine that.
Take. They didn't take anything. They changed the second best character in the game into a decent character - almost assuredly still top 10 if not still top 5.
Property. It's not your property - the game plainly states that you own no facet. Not even your roster slots. It's all owned by D3. The virtual information is under their sole ownership and you agreed to that when you played the game.
Unlawfully. They certainly broke no laws. Everything they did was very clearly in their right as listed in the EULA.
By Force. Force is defined as
force/fôrs/
noun
1.strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.
2.coercion or compulsion, especially with the use or threat of violence.
3.an organized body of military personnel or police.
4.a force-out.
In the definition of robbery, force is generally taken to mean #2, though what D3 did meets none of the above criteria.
I get why you're upset, I do. My Thor cost me a pretty penny as well. But attacking the character of an entity over something they did with the best of intentions by labeling it an illegal, criminal act? Come on. You're better than that.0 -
How much did your thor end up costing you anyway? You had to get some of those initial covers through tokens, didn't you?0
-
I know right...and yes I truly was going to buy 4hor covers yesterday, not just saying but I was and the iTunes outage prevented me from doing so...it was meant to be!!!0

You are absolutely right! It's not robbery it's fraud.
In law, fraud is deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain. Fraud is both a civil wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud and/or recover monetary compensation) and a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities)
Bait and Switch is a well known fraud/scam and prosecutable with-in the U.S.0 -
Same here, I bought all the 3 blue covers for 4 thor and 3 purple for iron fist.. I max only few characters which i find them essentially useful but now D3 nerf 4 of my 6 characters!! Seriously i felt my money is cheated and I WONT spend a single dollar on this game anymore... It's not worth it.. when you see some heroes abilities out , you think it's good and a moment later it turns out they change them to something else after you bought them which feels it's like some sort of scam! YOU SHOULD CHANGE THE CHARACTERS BEFORE THE CHARACTER IS EVEN OUT NOT AFTER WHEN EVERYONE SPEND THEIR MONEY OR/AND TIME ON THOSE BLOODY COVERS0

It strikes me as odd that you'd support the game at all given how you are fundementally against character balance changes to begin with.
I'd have thought that the past rags/spidey/mags changes would have sent out HUGE red flags.
They've been running their business this way from the start.
Like it or not this sort of thing is common in competitive gaming.
Sorry if I'm taking this thread too seriously...I realize it's probably just a rage/grief thread rather than a sudden realization that this company reserves the right to make character changes.
I will bring up one point though. Think of how much the game has improved since it's launch (which included character balance changes)...as painful as nerfs feel they are often done with the best intentions to improve the game as a whole. This is coming from someone who purchased a Stark Salary to fully cover Thor and who bought 3 purple + 1 black IF cover should that make any difference at all.0 -

Sorry, but it's not fraud either. Again, Fraud requires an action be criminal in nature which D3 is not guilty of.
The changes to Thor Goddess are things that the game has shown D3 to be problematic. Usage statistics, win rates, average game length - all these are statistics that D3 has access to which we do not. These things obviously told D3 a tale, and that tale was that something needed to be done about D3. Fixing a problem isn't fraud.
Further, Fraud requires intent. Do you really think it was D3's intent to harm their customers? In cases of Fraud, once you've shown your hand you can no longer deceive the same target. Do you think it is D3's plan to steal a few hundred dollars at once from each member of a portion of their spending customer base, never to receive their compensation again? Keep in mind, this would preclude receiving similar income from said players for the forseeable future every few weeks when a new and powerful character is released.
No. I tell you, if they knowingly stepped on this many toes and created this much noise, they did it because they truly believe it is for the good of the game. Are they right? Time will tell. Maybe not. But are they fraudsters? Hell no, and you should literally be ashamed of yourself for positing otherwise.0 -
sometimes the best intentions isn't enough, they have thoroughly proved that they are fine with making changes that make people quit when other alternatives are present, Yes this is their game and they are free to make their changes but they also have to deal with the consequences of their actions. we can suggest alternatives to butchering cause we care about the game, but we can only put up with their **** for so long before we get **** enough to quit.0

Did they do it in the best interest of the game? I would hope so. I don't care if it's their plan or not, they are definitely stealing money from people who just bought these covers. I'm also sure that you can commit a crime unintentionally. Fraud or not, Ignorance of the law is not an argument. Just because you don't think you're committing a crime doesn't mean you aren't.
It feels very intentional as always and they sure don't care to say anything otherwise. So until then............................stares at clock.........grows beard0
