PVE or PVP in disguise?

Did you get the progression from the following event?0

Re-reading your initial post, the problem wasn't the timing of your final grind, it was your play leading up to that. You said you'd be grinding to stay t50. In other words, no margin for error. You shouldn't be hovering around your goal rank. So basically, you were T50, did an early final grind to reach 10th, and then all the people you passed did their grind, with a bit more efficiency, and passed you by. Seems like a logical outcome. Your takeaway shouldn't have been "I got screwed because I couldn't grind at the end", it should've been "I left way too many points on the table early on"0 -

Unless scaling takes a seriously dive on the lower end, quantity is overwhelmingly more important timing now. Nobody is going to grind the hardest nodes 6 times unless it's Iso 8 Brotherhood (very few nodes and a surprisingly high number of goon only nodes on the hard bracket). I had a score of 158K for Prodigal Sun and only 2 were higher than 150K in the top 10 PvE alliances and I didn't come close to grinding things down to 1. I wasn't even able to grind the easy bracket down to 1 most of the time because it got too tiring but doing hard bracket about 4 passes is enough to beat at least anyone in the top 10 PvE alliances. Now, timing is important because unless you're buying health packs, you really do want to use all the health pack you can possibly regenerate in the last 8 hours. I used 5 health packs on the dreaded HT + Pyro + Pyro node in Prodigal Sun, but that's why I started that node with 8 hours left to go since I anticipated that node will have a serious toll on my health pack so I want to get as many attempts as possible while I still have the luxury of time. If I started with only 4 hours to go I probably would've only did that node once and after that it'd be way too risky to ever attempt it again.0 -
Real PvE is the prologue and the daily. The rest is very much PvP. You have either a point race against other players with opponents selected by devs or a point race against other players with opponents selected by other players.0

From a traidional gaming sense I'd have to disagree. PvP is player vs player. even pvp in this game is pushing the limit of the definition of pvp since you aren't really playing against another player, you're playing a dimwhitted AI using their roster.
PvE is exacltly that, you are playing a AI enemy with AI bots, and other players are doing the same. Would you call pluggin in a quater in an arcade machine and going for the high score PvP? I wouldn't
When I first started MPQ I was excited and petrified becuase I thought PvP was actually PvP and some one was on the other end making moves....I was sad when I learned that wasn't the case.0 -
Have to agree with above poster. Barely a PvP in truth. But that game,mode is the only worthwhile,mode in this game.
The PvE here is a joke based on time vs reward. PvP is what 3 days and a cover. With a much easier method to obtain the covers. PvE is usually 4.5 to 7 days and again 1 cover. Yes you can top 50, top 10 to get more covers plus alliance. But same thing in PvP. Same number of cover offers for vastly different amounts of effort.
Is it any doubt why PvE is mostly only done on New covers? Then the PvP people just hit progression and tank their metrics for future PvE so when new cover comes out they can get a slightly softer bracket. Meanwhile during 1 PvE they finished 2 PvP and got 4 ccovers at least upwards of 8.
Time vs effort, that's the biggest problem. Scaling and bracket matching being 2nd and 3rd.0 -
They could make it more alike with a real pve instead of a disguised pvp and still keep some track of covers given. Just change the progression a bit and keep the # ranks but in a way lesser competitive while still worth. Something like:
- progression works same until the 3* cover, but giving the worst cover of the new character;
- some more progression with iso, tokens and 2* and at 2x score of regular progression gives the second cover of the new character, the "middle one";
- some more stuff, then at 3x score of regular progression gives the last and strongest cover.
Now to the # ranks:
#1~2: 4* cover
#1~10: one more cover from new character, the same as the first milestone. throw some iso and hp
#11~50: 3x event token, iso and hp
#51~150: 2x event token, iso
#151~300: 2* cover, iso
#301~500: x3 standard token
#501~1000: 1x standard token
Then on the next pvp event with said new character just give the prizes as "usual", that is the worst cover for T100 and alliance and best for T5.0
