I'd agree with the others on Storm, although I'd add the caveat that it's fine to do so even without being able to level up Magneto. Mags needs enough health to poke his head out for some purple matches, which is probably closer to level 40-50 than level 94. So Storm/Mags is still plenty viable even if you can't take him all the way. 3 purple covers hampers this a bit, but picking a few up shouldn't be a long-term barrier.

CStorm/Mags/Hawkeye has great synergy, but I'm not a big Hawkeye fan. Speed Shot's all he has got going for him, and that requires someone else to set the table for him. Certainly powerful, but a bit too lacking in versatility for my tastes. With a limited roster, I'd rather have someone that could be plugged into multiple lineups in case specific characters are injured. I dunno, maybe someone who uses him more than me can find some other good roster fits? Anyway, I'm a much bigger fan of using Thor with Storm/Mags. He gives you more direct damage options, and can charge up Lightning Storm, which speeds up Wind Storming. You can basically use every color on the board (except black) as a lead-in to WInd Storm. Not to mention his excellent tanking ability at that stage.

Yeah, no. Getting the hit points, high damage numbers from black, and the high healing numbers from blue from a fully leveled OBW is absolutely key to a 2* roster (plus, you know, the 3 Purple power is spectacular in and of itself). As a utility player in a primarily 3* roster, sure, a 1 purple OBW has its charms. But for a 2* roster, three purple is 100% the way to go. Hell, I'd build a second OBW with three purple before building a one purple.

I've a 5/1/5 goddess at 220 and I still use mnmags every day. That should give you an idea of just how useful he is.

I would love to use him but struggling to get his purple/red. Just got 3 of his blue back to back in lightning rounds. Sooo frustrating.

Max blue is pretty funny but not actually very good imo. Red and purple are better than a lot of 3* skills.

I have my at 5/5/3 because I like the blue as a killswitch for PvE goon boards. Pretty nice to place one and not have to worry about any countdown tiles XD

Well to update on my situation, I initially pushed storm up to 40, before I settled on Wolverine for my run at the DDQ. I completed it handily with a Thor/OBW/Wolverine team, Wolverine is only 55 still. My strat was to build up as much AP as I could in waves 1/3. Thor took a couple of hits in the first wave, but by time Blade/IW/CM showed up the board was filled entirely with green tiles or wolvies strike tiles, I wish I had taken a screenshot it was a thing of beauty. Hadn't banked enough AP to nuke the wave down entirely but they had no AP left to do any damage. By fourth wave the board didn't look as pretty as in the second, but I had more than enough AP stored to nuke the last wave down completely and beat the DDQ for my DD cover!

Many thanks to everyone who offered advice it was all much appreciated and taken on board! Next stop trying to get up to 300 on PVP.

Agreed Ares is an alternative to Thor, not someone you pair with him. Perhaps I'm looking at this more from a long term perspective and not the needs for a younger 2* only roster looking for immediate results. Once I moved to the 3* and beyond, I never used 2* thor again while I still find a use for Ares in some events. That being said, if I face Hulk with Ares then I just save up my green AP and hit him with Onslaught when there is a decent chance I can match away the black attack tile and have OBW's Anti-Gravity Device ready to go to delay the countdown just in case I can't.

If you're looking to play this game for long, long time, I'd argue that Ares, OBW, M Magneto, and C Storm are the main 2* you want to spend ISO on before moving on to start the 3* transition.

Storm and Magneto cant go wrong

Ares and Daken are PvE boosted atm so can double up your benefit.

Yeah, I actually used his Blue a bit before Daken got his blue and I had my Storm covered - however both those abilities are infinitely better than his Blue, so I respecced him when I got the chance (awhile ago). His Red is really good, though, I would suggest going max in that and purple for sure - I sure wish I would have earlier.
