Question for those of you who don't have Cyclops:

Enemy of the State question:

My guildies keep saying they can't score well in this event because they "don't have cyclops". If anyone would like to prove otherwise, plz post your cyclops-less score and what "day/event" you're on, if you'd please.

Or even, if you'd like to offer some words of advice on not having an essential character!

-Thanks much!

  • I've got Cyclops, but I'm curious what they mean by "score well". If they are solely looking to get to the 40k Cyclops progression, that is definitely achievable without him. I haven't been playing anywhere near to optimally in this and should be hitting him once I do a clear or two of the newest sub (which opened about 6 hours ago and I haven't touched yet). If I didn't have him, I reckon that with a little bit more play I'd get him at my lazy pace about halfway through the event.

I believe what raisinbman wants is the score of someone that: 1) Doesn't have Cyclops and is unable to do the essentials and 2) Has been hitting all of the refreshes, and grinding down in the last hour. With that score, he can use it as a baseline to see if his guildies are really trying their hardest, or if they are not bothering at all.

Of course, the irony is that anyone who is willing to hit all the refreshes and grind down in the last hour most likely did so during the last PvE, and most likely has Cyclops ^^'

No, it doesn't have to be a "maxium player", just someone who's htting 1-150 WITHOUT cyclops.

It's more to say "hey, this isn't impossible, these people on the forum have done it". Well, it would be if I could actually get anyone to respond, lol icon_razz.gif

As a side note people were very mean when I asked in a certain other thread so I thought it'd be better to ask here.
  • what are your guildmates trying to achieve in the event? if they just want top progression, thats doable w/o the essential by around the 5 day mark giving them the essential for the last day or so. if they want top 150, thats doable but with alot more grinding, especially after getting the essential. if they want top 50, well unless theyre in a soft bracket theyre probably going to have to buy health packs and lose some sleep. top 10, i dont think so. i think its all about setting reasonable goals when the event starts and tailoring your effort accordingly.

ill be interested to see if you get any replies from people w/o the essential, especially here in the forum were most people are more serious about the game and have at least one cyc cover. good luck to you and your guildies.
  • There are two really high scoring "survival" nodes in each sub. One is locked as an essential, the other is available to anyone. It should be absolutely possible to grind that down to get a decent enough score to get the progression, get Cyclops, then get more points...

But that being said, I have Cyclops. I can't really be sure.
  • I don't have Cyclops and I'm sitting around 150th place overall. It's really not hard to place even without the featured character. Just plan and play accordingly.

I don't have Cyclops, in the 6pm EST ending time. I'm playing fairly casually, only repeating 2-3 times throughout the day. I'm currently in 72nd place overall and 38th in Hell's Kitchen. I've placed 200th or better in all of the sub-events so far. I was initially only shooting for the 51-150 rank so I wasn't trying too hard at first.

I didn't have a Cyclops till today when I earned the Black cover of the progression reward. Somehow I've managed to pull off a score just under the top 10 (which is pretty awesome since I am only aiming for top 150 for my 5th Blue cover).

I'm around day 400 (I can see that Nick Fury cover coming up this week from the daily rewards.)

I've honestly really just played through each node once every 8 hours or so, Lazy Cap, GSBW, & Hood crush the longer nodes & goon only ones.

I'm not sure if it's because of the Deadpool Daily drawing players away, but this event doesn't seem nearly as competitive as prior events.

Wolveroach doesn't have Cyclops, is in the first slice, and is currently at #251 with 35167 (top is Yaoz86 with 88978).

I haven't even bothered with The Gorgon, Adamantium and Steel was almost too hard after a grind through the rest of the nodes.

40k and that Cyclops cover is the target, anything else is a bonus.
  • I'm 28th in Hell's Kitchen and 98th overall without Cyclops. I should get him either tonight or tomorrow and have him to make a push to make sure I get a blue Hood cover. I'm in a really weak bracket (or people are so excited over Deadpool rewards that they don't waste their time with weeklong pves.

That's actually a realy interesting viewpoint - I wonder if Deadpool dailies will take emphasis off PVE/PVP for more casual/cynical players.

count me in that group. i still like pve because i can see the prizes and know almost with a certainty from the outset if i i can get them and how much work it will take. pvp can suck it. no reason to spend hours grinding and maybe get a cover after 2/12 days. now its one cover everyday, 2 10% shots at another and it takes 15 minutes. anything i do in pvp wil be for the 400 point awards and the season progression cover and 10 pack. dpq i luv u.

I did not have Cyclops for the beginning of the event but have earned the progression.

While you may be able to earn just as well without the essential characters, you have to work harder for it. now that i have an extra character (akameat shield) that i can use to net an extra couple hundred or thousand points (for survival nodes) i can use less health packs on my core characters that are more developed and hit all the nodes once. I was struggling to get top 150 without him, now i can get top 50 fairly easily.

so, yeah, essentials do make a difference in my opinion.

Also, Deadpool dailies did get in the way, but i did get some good covers for my core team + rounding out my 3* roster, so its a good investment
  • With 10 hours left in Hand Fortress, I've got about 46k points and picked up my first Cyke cover last night. I played pretty optimally in the first two subs but have been going at a much more relaxed pace since just to maintain my top-150 slot. It helps to get into the right shard, of course, but you can tell your guild that top 150 is achievable with decent but not perfect play even without the essential character.

That does seem like a really weak bracket. I didn't have cyclops and just got the 40k progression reward last night. Currently #316 with just under 48k while #1 has 160k.

I'm not going to complain. About 75k points going to bed tonight and looking like I have a good chance at two Hood covers if I have 30 minutes before work tomorrow and a little bit of time at lunch or after work. I'll be happy with it. I like winning because nobody else is trying!
  • Earned Cyclops in the 2nd day by hitting the survival nodes over and over. Unfortunately don't have the roster spot for cyclops yet. Got busy over the weekend, but if I was trying hard could definitely see hitting 100k, which might get me top 400 overall.
  • I started the event without good ole Cyke. Mainly because I was vacationing and didn't have a chance to play the last event almost at all. (Of course that would happen to me on a character I really want)

My only intention for playing this one was to get the progression reward which I did in the second or third day. After I got him I stopped trying and ended up #60 overall with 114480 points and that was not even really trying as I said. I think I even skipped almost one sub entirely. The points did come a lot faster after I got him on my team especially this last sub's survivor node. I will say this event would be tougher with out the Loki/patch combo.

I had a similar problem in the last PvE (where Deadpool was required). If they can grind the bigger nodes optimally to get the progression reward, they can easily get some points in the last 2 subs in the event. For most of the brackets, that should be able to push you into the top 150 in order to have the Essential character for the next PvE.

Note: One of the guys in my alliance did not start with Cyclops this PvE and has 90k points. So theres that.
  • I won one cyclops from the pvp rewards which fell about mid way through the next to last sub. I was already at ~37k points then and earned the progression cyclops also during that sub. I would do one full clear, and likely a second clear of each sub but no more than that. Last sub I think I only ran the final survival a second time, finished about 80th. Was in first slice and have a decent 3* roster.
