Attacking someone repeatedly

If you are worth a good amount of points I will attack you. Once I have defeated you and I cycle though to try and find someone else worth a good amount of points and you pop up again I will attack you again if you are worth the points.

This post stems from someone sending me a personal message on Line crying about being hit repeatedly...get over it its just a game. It's also called pvp, if you can't handle it don't join the event.

If you see this ign epicbeastmode please feel free to attack it over and over and over again until it just doesn't give you the points you want or need. I won't complain about being attacked repeatedly...been victimized by it since I started playing pvp...that's what shields are for.

people take this game way too seriously.

I never really pay attention to usernames since they're usually spelled weird or what have you.
I figure it's just part of the game. I do the same thing, i'll atack someone if they are worth enough points and will be within my power to defeat.

Wild guess, your favorite character is Bullseye? 'Cause that's one giant target you just painted on your head. Enjoy! icon_razz.gif

Look, there's two sides to this. When you're climbing there's a point around 600 where MMR goes away and you just see bad things. At this point that means mostly 4* teams with maxed featured. It's not pretty. When you see an underleveled GSBW with 2* Thor and a loaner in all that mess that's worth more than 20 points it's like the clouds part and a beam of light from the heavens shines down upon you. Sometimes I hear a choir of angels singing. Sometimes. Point is, it's fire for effect time. I'm not taking names. And if it comes up again, **** it, points are points. It is PvP. Them's the breaks.

On the other hand, as human beings interacting with other human beings it's nice to think there's some room for a little empathy. Even in the heat of competition you usually get a glance at the names of the people you're hitting. If you see a familiar looking team with a familiar looking name and you've already given them two or three smacks, why not ease on down the road a little and find someone else to play with. I mean, it's just a game, right? No need to take it too seriously.

As someone who is farming shield sim at high point levels I can appreciate this.

My options for gain points last night and this morning were:
    - retals first
    - 2 or 3 people worth between 10-14 points
    - waves of skips worth literally 3 or 4 points followed by the same name repeatedly offering 22 points, then 21, 20, ect

This is a bit of an extreme case admittedly...but when the game offers you ~4 point matches or ~20 point matches with any hit against you easily dropping you 25+ points...there's only one choice you can make.

WISH the game artifically gave people points even if their scores aren't keeping up with mine.

Exactly. The MMR quite frequently gets stuck with only a couple people who are worth any reasonable amount of points

I'm one who will usually skip someone if I see them come up a second time for a hefty sum of points but not if they're the only one I can find worth anywhere near that amount. If it's 35 points and I can find another for 33, I'll just hit that guy instead to not pile on the first. As you guys mention it gets harder at different stages depending on mmr and how many people are shielded etc. Sometimes the game gives you little choice but to hit that same guy for 26 over and over.
  • Agreed OP.

Don't enter the arena unless you want to get got.
  • I use all three of my nodes. If I get an extremely high point target, I'll leave it in the node and fight the other two nodes first. So in theory, the high point person has three fights (until the fight against them is finished) to finish their hop and shield. It's very seldom I'll attack high point targets without giving them a chance to shield.

I do this as a tip of the hat for that player giving me the points that I would normally have to do at least two fights to get, as well as I would not want any one hitting me or my friends when we are trying to get points for the higher progressives.

The only exception is if I'm close to the higher progressive (800-1000) range I'll hit them sooner. I've only hit another player more than once in a short period a few times, and that was when we were both fighting for the same placement.

That's not counting retal wars. If someone retals against me right after I hit them, it's on. Likewise, I usually let my retal's build up instead of retaling right away to give them a chance to make their climb.
  • Once you get to a certain score level, you'll inevitably hit people multiple times, mainly because they are the only person above you that is unshielded at the time.

Last PVP, I was playing around 800 and couldn't find anything.
Then a 40 point match popped up. Perfect, this means that someone just unshielded. I found them and now I'm going to score off of them.

I beat them, skipped a few nodes and found them again, now worth 37 points. Still totally worth it.

Beat him again. Skipped a few nodes and found him again, now worth 33 points. Still better than the 20 to 24 point matches I've been working with for the past 200 points. So I hit him again.

He finally reshielded and I couldn't find him after that.

Do I feel bad about it? Kind of. I mean, I'd be so frustrated if I was being hit from the second I unshielded until the second I reshielded.

But that's the nature of PVP. The player pool is so much smaller now in the 5 shards, that you basically have to find a hand full of people and take your rage out on them until they reshield. Then you go back to the 19 to 24 point matches until another big fish unshields. Then you hunt them until they reshield. Rinse and repeat.

It's not ideal and it's not fun, but it's the only real way to climb nowadays in PVP.

i really, honestly never realized that people got upset about getting hit in PVP. as people have already said, it's not just part of the game, at some point in the game it is literally the only way to play the game.
  • It's this carebear culture that stemmed from games like World of Warcraft. They want to journey out and have fun with the real players, but they don't want to lose everything they had on them when they die.

Ya boy was raised in the Ultima Online age where you were happy to respawn with a pick axe and a clean pair of undies.

You got clean undies? In my day, you were lucky if you had undies at all! We had to cover ourselves with rocks and dirt!
  • is it just me or is the point loss for hits is way to high given the fact you can get hit multiple times from different sources. If the hits were 1/3 of the current strength i think this mode would be a lot more fun you can fight back and forth with a few people and still progress, you get hammered and you do not lose all your progress. but as it stands, like other posts said there are always shields.

i don't play in the last hour it is too crazy and i mess up when i try to match fast. i get the 3 hour shield at 2-3 hours from end if i care about the awards. if not i just stay unshielded and do something else while i place top 50 or 100 it is risky some times i get bump into top 200 and get that nasty 2* cover, but i didn't usually want the featured cover so no harm no foul.

Haven't heard anyone else mention UO for a long time! I'm a Trammie so pkers stay away lol
  • Its part of pvp what else would yellowfart do if he can't prey on the weak by hitting same person 20 times in a single pvp. Only thing I'd like to see changed is get rid of anything 5 points or lower or get rid of skip tax for anything low points.

Not all snipers are bad; Harada for example would snipe for hours and donate the points to my alliance. I personally thanked him for his kind gesture and I could feel the gratitude in the air by his blank response.
