how does game prevent hacking

  • Yeah I just saw a 128 level patch Wolvie in Lokis lightning round just now. Was amazed, it either cost a fortune or somebody is hacking.
  • Given his temporary boost, I could see someone sinking a ton of money into him to try to take advantage of the boost for a week or so. The amount some people appear to spend on this game astonishes me.

    Pretty much this.

Plus pre-wolvpatch, there were tons of people flashing how much iso they had stockpiled - and with the acknowledgement he is broken until x time, If I had the ISO- I would definitely milk it.
  • It wasn't too hard to get first patch covers, and the you can just push the 1250 HP upgrades.

IIRC without that you'd be 2/2/2 from wins, doesn't even look that far. With just a fat spidey on board you could collect the 500 HP prizes from the recent hunt subs, so you may sit on big patch even without investing real currency or so much of it.

Is every tile match logged by the server or just the outcome of a pvp is sent?

Guss that won't be disclosed. icon_e_wink.gif

I would send in the whole game data at the end (shall fit in about 1k space max), it can be used in so many ways for good. And that would create a fair challange for the hacker by mere side effect.

The board is randomly generated (maybe seeded) sending all the logs will be a lot of traffic. But if you only send the log if the match was too fast and/or other conditions. The server can say if the player is hacking.

The game doesn't do anything to prevent cheating. The amount of covers your characters have is probably not stored on their server, and you could alter your client any ways you like without the server knowing it. Whether they have tools or not, if you don't do anything obvious I highly suspect that they won't find it, and sadly it means that there are cheaters among us.
I had a problem a while back where all my recruit tokens disappeared with a patch. I couldn't remember exactly how many I had. But they could and they gave them all back to me in response to my ticket. And it wasn't just some filler number because the error happened to other people and they got their tokens back as well.

Just from reading mod posts, it's clear they keep track of a lot of numbers behind the scenes. How well people are doing in different brackets, when they're shielding, how often they're skipping, the progress everybody is making through the Prologue, etc.

Umm, no. Not in the slightest. While you *can* edit anything you have user side, the server also has all the information on your account.

Yet, yesterday I received an incorrect amount of rewards, and my patch wolverine has one green cover more than is supposed to have. Maybe not a big deal, but the server did something incorrectly for sure.

Round 2 I ended up missing a green patch cover. After 24 hours a CSR contacted me to confirm red or green missing.

4 hours after confirming green I got my replacement red cover. /facepalm

I still don't know where I'm going with Patch and at least I have the right number of covers so I'll consider the problem resolved.
