The Gauntlet - some strategies, please?

If you were going to categorize this thread, I guess you could file it under "this game scales terribly".

I've already wiped twice on the node I'm talking about, and countless times, even in the easy node with level 80+ characters that got never ending cascades.

I'm on the second sub, trying to pass the node that's right before the end, with Sentry, Deadpool and Daken. Deadpool is level 144, Sentry 145 and Daken 144. I've tried to go at them with a level 160 boosted Daredevel, 143 Xforce, and 103 Blade (to suck up AP). Any other combinations you recommend? What's your strategy.

Please help with this, and also if anybody has difficulty with any node, put it down below and maybe other people can help you as well.

4hor + Xforce + (Hood/OBW) seem to be popular choices.

My strategy for that would be to take OBW and any of my 2 good chars in, they should be able to handle those levels.
A 2 star player might want to use Storm + Magneto + Hawkeye or maybe ares for the RGY. Also Teamups help.

Mine weren't quite that high, but I used 2* Hawkeye/2* Storm/2* Magneto (with Blue/Purple AP Boosts, Crit Damage Boosts, and +3 All AP Boosts, if you need to).

Storm & Magneto (+ Blue/Purple Ap & 3 All AP if you need to) for the usual Polarity Shift/Wind Storm shenanigans, plus Hawkeye's Speed Shot on top for tons of fast damage (and the Crit Boosts to make it even more devastating, if you need to). Mine were are level 98, if I recall correctly. Worked first go through without any Boosts or Team-Ups.

So far the only one I've lost to was the Spidey/Falcon/Magneto match on the second sub, in which I wiped twice, and I'm biding my time until tomorrow to try and plow through.

The general strategy against enemies that are much higher level than you involves around AP denial which would be Loki, OBW, or The Hood.

Looking at the levels involved it doesn't seem like they're overwhelmingly stronger. X Force isn't that good unless you have at least 4 covers in his green or black. Daredevil isn't particularly useful either unless that was a required node unless you're trying to get an early Ambush to knock out someone. You still need to know how to make the good matches and try your best to deny your opponent. If you have Loki, that requirement goes way down since Mischief helps you recover from messing up or just plain bad luck. Having the right covers is generally more important than having a ton of levels. For that particular combination of enemy, red and blue should be a priority if you can use those offensively. If not you might be able to get away with skimping out on blue if you're very careful on the greens to minimize Phermone Rage. Purple and green will eventually be a threat but hopefully you've something that can shake up the board by the time they hit WR and take care of Deadpool before he hits 14 purple, which should take a very long time. Yellow is threatening but I doubt you'll have much success keeping 3 colors given yellow is typically a hard color to find a good attack and the fact you haven't been winning means you probably weren't doing too great at stopping their strong colors. Note that Chemical Reaction will get rid of Sacrifice, so if you can't stop/match Sacrifice, make sure they can get blue so that Daken can clear Sacrifice for you.

I love threads discussing Gauntlet strategies. For a DP, Sentry, Daken team, I would try Patch/Hulk+Loki/Daredevil. Berserker Rage and put Hulk out front. If Hulk dies, then use Daredevil's purple to eliminate the enemy strike stiles, preserving your own. With Loki, you would cast his black as fast as possible after Berserker Rage. You may want to use match damage boosts for this one if your roster is limited or if your characters are still squishy.

A second option would be IM40, Lazy Cap + Captain Marvel/Hood/Loki/MMN. blue/red/yellow boost if needed. Obviously the key here is to get LCap steamrolling, so collect red, yellow, blue. Prioritize red to deny DP's haircut. Yellow is for IM40 who at level 2 yellow can generate red/blue for you (IM40 5/5/2 works great with 4hor as well). Hood/Loki/or Cap Marvel are vehicles to delay and trip up the enemy in the case of Hood/Loki or to tank and generate red in the case of Cap Marvel. I used a team like this to take out a nasty Thor node in Gauntlet sub2. With MMN, you want to use his purple to generate the blue for Lazy Cap -- this has a nice ancillary benefit of denying DP purple for his whales.

I think i used x force + magstique for that 2nd last node. Not as good a combo as the one below though...

You can also try:
Mag.stique + DD (esp if he has 5 red covers)

It's so fun to have match 4 or 5s trigger Ambush when u're spamming with Mystique's Blue or MnMags purple abilities

Also i just learnt that if u trigger 2 or 3 of his red traps in one match 3/4/5, you only get one back

Do you have hulk and patch?

If so, you can beat most nodes pretty seamlessly. It'll just be slow.

I used She-Hulk, Captain Marvel and Classic Storm. The first two are fully covered but only level 140. The enemies were around 220ish. Boosted all three iso-purchasable +ap's and went to town. She-hulk red and storm green cleared away big sections of the board (good if sentry lets green fly), storm blue and marvel black stun. If damage was about to be done to you, stick cap marvel in front for red and black ap generation (and storm's damage-taken passive will also trigger.)

I'm looking forward to using them at max level. These three got me through 90% of the last gauntlet, and are doing okay this run of the event as well.

I reached the last fight of 3rd part vs Fury (lv198 - 7100HP), XForce (lv198 - 8100HP) and Thor 3* (lv198 - 12100HP).
But I can't find how to beat them ...

The one that has me pissed issim 26 with Devil Dino, Thor and Hulk. Dino appears to be the most op char in the game...such quick, hard hitting abilities. He got bite off second turn and one-shot my 58 storm

If you have MNMag covers floating around you really should make one with 5 purple, combined with your Mystique and anyone else you can win basically any fight. I use either X-Force, Punisher, Daredevil, Hood, or 3* Storm with my level 95 Mystique and 94 MNMag to beat most of the third event despite every enemy being 395. You only need them to be 0/5/0. More is better, but those two abilities generate an infinitely long turn that kills anyone. Storm is a great compliment to that because her Green and Yellow help keep that going. Other than that maybe Hood, OBW, and a third (Storm, Groot, Cap, Blade) could have enough resource denial to get it done, but it will be hard.

While X-Force and 4Hor are undeniably the top combo if you have them, Loki was my MVP of this Gauntlet. Hood is great but he tanks too many colors and is squishy. Loki can fuel anyone. That said, boosting doesn't hurt either and I did resort to Whales, whales, whales 4 times.For those without Loki, OBW is a must.

Pretty much what I'm doing but with my level boosted DD instead of HE, though I desperately wish I had DD's purple cover for the added insurance. I'm about a 3rd of the way through Global Domination, but between Mag's Purple and Storm's Blue I can usually control the board, if the game is nice enough to make those colours available. I didn't bother completing the side quests on Alpine as I don't have Punisher, and I'm not really sure I want to start collecting him either. Hood and Deadpool I could definitely use, if I can get through the event with a whole lot of luck as I'm now facing teams in the 130's range.

You need Punisher in order to get Deadpool.

You need Punisher in order to get Deadpool.

Why? Points are relegated to the node you're in, are they not? That should mean the only points effecting my chances of getting Deadpool are those from Global Domination. But hey, if I *NEED* to finish the side quests on Alpine, then fine I'll do it. Assuming I can even finish GD.

Wow, Gauntlet is really hard. I'm getting **** with my strongest characters. Largely due to constant massive cascades that the AI receives

The only thing that seems to work for me is Modern Mags + Steve Rogers to continuously generate blue and stun targets. AP denial has failed for me because the last few rounds, the AI has had cascades that chain about 10 times (no joke). I wish I could record these on the iPhone because it is ridiculous.

Just got to the the third sub early today. Had very little problems so far. The only node to wipe me so far is still that stupid Mag/Falcon/Spidey node, and I boosted through that with no problems

All I've been using is Daken/Wolverine/oBW for easier nodes or Magneto/Hawkeye/Storm for harder nodes. Thor/Ares/oBW & Daken/oBW/Torch get an honorable mentions.

Okay, I'm past that, and I'm finally in the third sub. I've actually gotten pretty good, but I've determined that the only way to really get by is stun locking. Not very fun. More importantly, victory comes down to who you take out first. But I've gotten to a match where this doesn't really work. I'm at Simulation 35 With lvl 177 Panther, 178 Psylocke and 178 lazy thor. I have tried fighting with boosted 162 Daredevil, 143 Xforce, and either boosted 134 cap or lvl 127 Lcap. I get wiped either time. If I focus on Panther (to keep him from doing his cheap swipe) I get one shotted from Lthor's Storm. If I focus on Lthor, Panther downs me with his cheap swipe.

Now, I can take OBW along to deny AP next time, but if she's ever caught out there or Daredevil is downed and he's not there to tank purple for her anymore, I'm screwed, as she's not really a damage dealer.
