Did anyone actually Speedrun Gauntlet?

Never got less than 2 useable 3 or 4 stars. Season 10 I got my 12th Steve Rogers an Elektra and a Spider-man. Pulled my 13th Steve Rogers a week later from an event token. I also very recently had a 5 day run of scoring a 3* I needed every day from standard tokens.
So YOU'RE the one getting all the good tokens!? Grrr...0 -
I have been speed running Gauntlet since it came out. It's the only thing to do, since all scores are the same. See how fast you complete it compared to everyone else.
I do like that there are prizes for fast completion, but the structure needs work. Top 10 of 1000 means 1% get something good and 99% get **** with a recruit token. That's just bonkers. Plus no time slicing so you got signed up as soon as you did your first node, means you could have already been out of the top 10 as soon as you entered. Basically it was the top 50% of the first 20 people to join, everyone else got no chance.0 -
I tried to speed through the first 2 and now I'm just taking my time getting beat on in the 3rd. 1st I got 200 something, but was 35th in the 2nd. It's fun to try and come up with a strategy for beating it fast, but also keeping your heavy hitters fresh. Didn't actually wipe until the 3rd sub, but came close a few times. Haven't spent any HP on health packs or boosts, but have used the ones I've earned in previous PVP and PVE's.0

Actually it is 10 out of 10,000, so 0.1% get something good and the other 99.9% get 100 iso that they were not expecting before the event started0 -
I'm not sure if anyone ever goes into an event and think "I'm going to try to win as slow as possible". If you mean speedrun as in just boosting every fight, well, then most PvP is a speedrun toward the end though PvE is kind of like that too if you're fighting for top positions.
I think it'd be cool if there's actually a ranking on the fewest turns taken to win but it'd be pretty pointless without eliminating boosts and cleaning up any quasi infinite combos because all you'd end up doing is run something like Mag + Mystique and keep on quit until you started with a purple match 5.0 -
I started the first stage with no intentioned speed running but instead tried to find the best counter strategies for each node. I ran really well, and finished 35th so I decided to push the second stage and used the same strategy. Ran really well the first 2/3 and then started boosting with 2 color stockpile boosts. Ended up finishing 8th but chose sleep over the 3rd stage.0

0 hp spent on G1 of gauntlet. Finished 5th.
200hp spent on G2 of gauntlet. Finsished 5th.
Not gonna bother spending anymore hp for G3. Or waiting for a fresh bracket.
All in all I think if your roster is cover-ready and you have some good friends (A million thanks to pinknotpurple of Skynet, LokiAOA of A-Force, and Ruussh of Dpreborn) who can help provide bracket number updates, why not try for top 10?
Its really a test of how fast and strategically you can navigate the gauntlet. And spending 200 hp for a 10-pack is a really good bargain IMO, since I usually have the midas touch for tokens.

Tokens are worthless to me but I had to know if I could t10 a sub on purpose (only managed to do it a few times in the past). Subs 1 and 2 were out of question as I started among the earliest but didn't have the same luck and speed despite trying to play as fast as I could, so opted to try for t10 in the last sub instead.
Had to buy healthpacks once for the very last uncleared node (which I never ever do normally) and spent all of my stockpiled Whales and rainbow boosts. I was sitting in the 10th in the last sub, with 11th having the same points and clearly unable or unwilling to clear the one last node as well. I wiped at least three times on said node due to trying to beat 11th in time and being extremely sleepy and unable to think well (last Essential with Loki, Cage and 4or).
Probably won't ever do this again, and Gauntlet is really not suited for speedrunning because the comps don't lock out 4or, X-Force and Deadpool nearly enough. I could afford to flush my DP points and rainbow boosts down the metaphorical toilet because I haven't been using them otherwise anyway.
So, in short, an exercise in buying healthpacks, spending boosts and DP points; I now wish I could go back in time and replay Gauntlet the way it's intended to be played, with thoughtful team compositions instead of boosted chainsawing through. I can't really replay it since the nodes have scaled up a lot due to speedrunning, and viable strategies would still boil down to powering through, even for easy and normal subs. But I guess I can make up for it the next time Simulator Basics is rerun.
PS: I also stayed awake for the start, at 5 AM, until I could finally t10 the 3rd sub, which must have taken me at least 2 hours.
PPS: Do not be crazy like me.0 -
I decided to stop in the middle of the 2nd sub.
I never enjoyed the Gauntlet because of the crazy scaling, and this time, nothing is worth winning.
So, using my health packs on this, for a bunch of Iso (or boost crits - please take these off the PvE rewards D3), was not worth it.
I wanted to concentrate on Shield Sim and the Starlord PvP. Those brought me a lot more Iso and were worth the effort...0 -

I still looking at the first node in the first sub thinking should I even start. I only did enough in the last run to pick up the green Loki - so I skipped the essentials on the first 2 subs - this time around I need no covers so its just for ISO and HPs and maybe a high end team ups. I think I just save my effort until next PvE which ill be a new character and hope they good0 -

There's a speed in between speedrunning and slow as possible. Speedrunning is literally trying to eliminate any wasted seconds, frantically clicking the 2nd power while the 1st is still animating.
Aside from shield-hopping, I'm not playing with any sense of urgency, typically speaking.0 -
I did try to speed run it, but I lost ground early in sub 1 (family), and even skipping the essentials and immediately jumping to sub 2 didn't help. I ended up crashing and burning with about 7 nodes left, and wasn't spending HP chasing the heavy hitters (I'm in Flare's bracket).
Probably the fastest 10k iso I've ever earned at least.0 -
I actually had no intention of bothering to make a run at a top 10 placement in any of the subs. In fact, one of the things I like the most about gauntlet is trying to beat every node without boosts.
But, I sat down to start sub #2 last night and knock out a few nodes just to get things moving along. Lo and behold I was #114 after clearing the first node. Check the leader board and realize people in the top 10 are only ahead of me by a couple nodes. So I start gunning for it. Halfway through the sub, I'm in the top 10. So now I'm committed to trying for it. I probably spent ~1400 ISO in boosts and 100 HP on two health packs. I finished in 7th.
I don't know if that 10 pack will be worth it (I doubt it), but it was kind of a fun rush. I'll recoup the HP and ISO in this event. So even if the 10 pack ends up a waste, I won't feel too bad about making the effort.0 -
I was so looking forward to 3 star 10 pack, but hey changed the graphic to be 2 stars today. So it's just another 10 pack of 2 stars probably... sigh. I'm disappointed, but I'll move on.0
