  • Star lord might be t1 prize but when 4 stars are released, they are never t100 prize in pvp (for reference, blade was rewarded as a t100 prize right before tgt pvp).

Reward is Gamora and XForce. Does anyone else think this makes it likely that we'll see another run of Meet Rocket & Groot after this one? Seeing as how it ran twice in a row last time and Gamora is the only Guardian that wasn't boosted this time around. My guess'd be split essentials with Daredevil.
  • ewww Gamora prizes? Are you kidding me? Let me guess, this is part of the "test" for new PVP....

I believe they said both off-season pvp events would be tests, going back to normal when the season kicks off. So, yes, this would be part of the test.

It also means next season will likely kick off with a Gamora pvp...possibly for Star-Lord covers. Prepare yourself!

I'm betting we skip Gamora pvp, get Star-Lord pvp, with Gamora as the 3* progression, Star-Lord as the 1000 progression. My Gamora is 3/5/4 currently, so this will finish her off regardless of build (which I *think* should be 3/5/5).
  • Boosted character I like - check.

Out of Season contest - check.

(Non- blueflag.png ) Thoress at the 1K goal line? - (irrelevant about the blueflag.png , but) check.

    Top / Top tier prize I don't care about - ....uh....half check ( blackflag.png , man, blackflag.pngicon_exclaim.gif )

Considering the next PvP event likely starts Season XI, good enough.

We of the official Anti-PVP League officially declare Category-5(2015 edition) the official, concluding test of the new PVP prog system.

    We shall now all see
    if, for now and eternity,
it is truly a Sniper's life for me.

  • They've been incredibly cheap with her black power; I wish they had made it the low. At least I should be able to get my 5/5/1 to 5/5/2.

Hey, gang. How do I level up Storm without her "Jumping to the front" ?

I want to level up my storm for Category 5, but I don't want her powers to trump my Patch or Daken classic. So, I don't want her to jump to the front on a match and take damage. How do I know how high I can level up before she starts taking colors and jumping to the front?

    Right now I have:

    Storm - Mowhawk, Level 89(134) 5/2/5
    Patch - Level 166, 5/3/5
    Daken classic - 130, 1/5/4

At this point, it's "Exactly" how I want it. Patch owns Green and Red, Daken owns Blue and Black.

This way, I can keep grabbing colors and using Storm for the Green and Black attacks with her taking minimal damage.

I'm scared to level her up because I did this with Loki and now the idiot takes damage in most of my matches over Daken!

    ---

I think I might be answering my own question here. If I look at the details on the players in game, I can see the relative "score" or value for each of the colors. I think as long as I don't level her over any other player in a color score, she'll stay to the back.

Gamora with Patch and Classic Daken is pretty great(EDIT: Not too bad) in PVP. After a Patch green attack, her lower, cheap attacks are nice to spread out and take out the enemy.

Mohawk's color priorities will always make her hide behind both of equal level IF you place patch in the middle slot or left slot and storm always in the right slot. Patch green and storm green are the same at equal level, so you have to let patch take a priority slot to Storm. Daken will always tank black for storm at equal level because it is Daken's strongest color and storm's 3rd color.

That said, this is only really viable in PVE because a boosted storm will throw this all to ****, like in her PVP. I'm not sure when a 3rd priority color overtakes a 1st priority color and when boosted, she will definitely take over green if she is higher in level than Patch. So, if you always want her to stay under Patch, even when boosted, I think it is 110 is the max level for a boosted character to hide behind 166's since they get a 50% boost in PVP events. So at 110, boosted storm would be 165. Also hurts that in her PVP, she is middle person (top priority) for colors. So, you have to make sure she stays below patch level-wise.

You might need someone else to weigh in about that 3rd vs 1st priority level issue when boosted, though.

Great advice! Thanks! I definitely agree the boost causes some ugly teaming. I'm looking at their color scores while in game, so hopefully that's the boosted value and I can just try to stay under. Hopefully I don't mess up this awesome pairing!

My Mohawk is level 91 specifically so she can still hide behind Patch and Daken when boosted. I believe that is how high she can go without tanking any colors.

I understand that. And I'm sure there's a team where Bag-Man is good and there's a team for Yelena.

She's very underwhelming. But people seem to like her and Star-Lord regardless so I'm not gonna waste my breath - I'll just let the next character rankings speak for themselves.

  • with the recent change to match-damage scaling, I believe only a featured characters primary color is guaranteed to tank when they're maxed.

A primary color of another character will tank over the featured characters 2nd and 3rd colors if they're both max level

Well some on this forum seems to think Star-Lord and Gamora are decent, and that using boosts against hood is dumb, so I figure maybe there's someone who uses bagman instead of X-Force icon_e_wink.gif
  • Damage boosts against Hood are fine, but I've always viewed AP Boosts are pointless, since you're just giving him something to steal right off the bat. At least make him work for it by taking hits while you collect.

AP boosts make all the sense in the world as long as you're using them smart. You want to take out Hood quickly. If you have X-Force, boost +3 green/black, match green twice and take out Hood on turn 3. Unless the board is either flooded with green or completely devoid of it you'll be able to take him out quickly without giving him the chance to steal any green AP. Sure, he might steal a bit of black AP but that's of no concern when you can take him out much quicker than if you needed to make 3 green matches.

I was hoping not to have this discussion again, we just had it over here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=22670&p=291794#p291794 icon_razz.gif

SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO ADD NEW COMMENTARY SAY HOW YELENA AND BAGMAN ARE GOOD

Looking at one of my matchups, a level 249 Storm has 85/76/66. A 4* has 82/73/64, and a 3* has 79/70/61, so yeah, basically a boosted character will always have priority on anything that's equal strength (strongest vs stronest, second strongest vs second strongest, third vs third) but they won't be beating maxed characters for a color one tier (or two) higher on the match damage hierarchy. This is probably a good thing in general since it used to be a boosted character always gets his 3 strong colors, TU, and almost always all the mutual weak color and end up turning into a pin cushion unless Hulk or Thor happens to be the featured character.
