You were so close, D3!
You were on such a hot streak.
8 hour timers on a PVE.
then the revised PVP progression rewards.
And then the new take on Q&A?
You guys were doing so well!
Then you reverted back to your old habits. A PVE for 7 days, back to low timers and only the top 50 get the reward.
Did you not learn anything from the 4hor PVE? People hate all of these things!
But you're compelling us with a new 4 star.
It's like a drug addict relapsing. We obviously need to get you back in counseling.
Consider this your second intervention.
You're better than this!

Let's all overlook the fact that the developers have gone back to a 3 hour timer for this pve after having the 8 hour timer (they stated that players wanted) for a character that was in less demand than a new character. They obviously expect us to overlook their slight, so I'll be nice and roll with that punch to the gut.
If you are going to release "a lot" of 4*'s, you need to stop treating their PVE release like 4*'s when their release was very rare. If 4* is going to be the new 3*, then the rewards tier (at least for the release) should reflect this. Having an actual humane rewards tier (similar to the other 3* character releases) is not going to break the meta of the game. You are talking about one PVE. If you are going to ask players to grind for a week with a 3 hour refresh timer (oops forgot I was supposed to not notice that), you could at least not further penalize them with a trimmed down rewards tier.
Also, a 4* is supposed to be a great character. Supposedly, this is why Invisible Woman is due for a buff. Elektra and Starlord do not seem to be on the same tier. Simply slapping 4* on a 3* character is a farce. You know who had the abilities to be a great 4* character, Luke Cage and Blade. They are great 3* whose powers if scaled to that of a 4* would be worthy of that title. If you are going to sell us on "a lot" of 4*'s, then they need to be genuine 4*'s. Don't slap some lipstick on Beast, add another star, and tell me that he's suddenly 4* material.
P.S. I lied. I noticed the 3 hour refresh timer.
P.S.S. Last 4* release PVE broke DjangoUnbuffed and actually changed us to PVE optional for a while. If this breaks the alliance completely, on your own heads it be.0 -
They give you a taste of freedom, buy you a bottle of Champipple, tell you you're pretty, then give you a backhand and send you back to work. D3 is a cruel pimp.0

The overall response to 8 hour refreshes was positive. VERY positive, I thought. Count me among the disappointed and confused about this return to 3 hour GRINDS!! Grinding in your sleep (not always a bad thing) and grinding at work (definitely not a good thing) and grinding on the road (never ever guys)!
And I didn't realize only the Top 50 get Star-Lord. For shame. I already have a max covered 3* Storm, so that makes all other rankings useless to me.0 -
For just one teeny tiny moment I thought I was actually excited to get back into the game. Now I see it was all smoke and mirrors.0

It sounds like pretty much everyone's enjoyed the 8hr refreshes in this event! That's great to hear. We think that the 8hr refresh times are a good idea, but we want to get some additional data before we change the PVE standards. Since the next PVE event will reward a brand new character (And one I'm personally very excited about) we thought it wasn't a good idea to mess with the status quo. As a result Thick as Thieves is going to run next with the standard 3hr refresh times.
We will be running another event with 8hr refresh times soon. Details will follow.
Remember back in the day when they did that new PvP MMR change with the new Mystique covers and everyone cried "Hey Demiurge, what the hell, you guys suck. Stop releasing new features when theres important awards at stake". So they listened, and now they're doing tests with unimportant covers are at stake. Now the exact same situation arose: they tested the new PvE a little bit, it was time to release a new character, and they didn't quite have enough data to make the change for all future events. Rather than saying "what the hell, let's keep it as is", they decided "hey, remember last time when everyone cried when a new character was at stake and we were testing something new? Let's not do that and be responsible this time." Of course, the new test actually ended up being good for the playerbase, and now everyone is up in arms because they decided to be responsible and not rush to conclusions.
I for one, am starting to give some trust to Demiurge. Most of their recent decisions and communication has been for the best, and things are looking pretty bright overall. Yes, this PvE is going to suck and of course I would like 8 hour refresh times. But given what happened before, and how they sort of communicated their reasoning for this, this seems like a perfectly reasonable response, and so i'm not that mad about it. At this point I dunno, all of this forum complaining seems akin to the forumites being a bad girlfriend: ever nagging and never satisfied.
To Demiurge Miles, etc: I don't know what you guys can do to not cause a forum uproar since it seems like a lost cause at this point. Something that could have been done better is to put that quoted text in it's own stickied thread instead of burying it in the discussion: it's valuable information that people probably want to know since otherwise you get even more complaining.0 -

They could have it in bold in the pop-up, stating the refresh time for the event will once again by 3 hrs. It is just common sense, not rocket science.0 -
I think it's after feeling how good that 8 hr refresh was, ppl are just massively disappointed with going back to 3 hour refresh. I don't think people are mad per se but it's like after having tasted something so good and liberating, we have to go back to something yucky.
So D3, take heart. You made such a positive and wonderful change to the refresh time that so many us cannot imagine going back to b48 (before 8 hr refresh) especially for a new character. It just sucks massively that we now have to go back to regular 3 hrs while you crunch your data before deciding on a more long lasting change.0 -

That seems wildly unnecessary: most of the people who play this game are casuals who aren't dying to know what the next PvE refresh is: it's also a waste of screen space since they can just open the PvE, play a node, and immediately see the refresh timer: it's not like it'll affect how they join the PvE at all. Greater visibility on the forum (where people actually do care) would have been appreciated, but they didn't need to do anything more than that.0 -

That's nice, but you've overlooked fourth crucial things. One, they could have done more testing of the 8 hour refresh timers before releasing a new character, especially a 4*. Two, they could have expanded the reward tier for the 3 hour timers since they are already have data that players do not like it. Third, they just wasted an entire opportunity to gather data on 8 hour refresh timers by running The Hunt in a fashion where a 8 hour refresh timer was ending every 4 hours. Fourth, if they were going to use 3 hour refresh timers, they could have chosen a pve that did not last a week.
Also, they have the most important data. Players do not like the short refresh timers.
I"m kind of surprised they could wag the dog so easy with you on this one. I think MPQ gets a lot of things right. My list of wrong stuff is pretty much down to just timers (which they are working on), transition process, and roster slots prices. Compared to a year ago, they have worked miracles getting the list down to those few items. However, on this one, there were a lot of things they could have done to not exacerbate the frustration with week long pve's and short refresh timers. In short, they did none of them.0 -

Top 10 for a 2nd cover is more draconian. It means that some people will play this game to death over the week and still maybe finish 11th-15th and end with 1 (read: virtually useless) cover unless they're in a top 50 alliance. That kind of **** is why I'm quitting the competitive aspect of the game at the end of this season.
At this stage of the game's development, with 4* commonplace in any PvP team over 700 points, it's about time that 4* rewards looked like this:
1st Extra 4* cover
2nd-10th 4* Colour 1
11th-25th 4* Colour 2
26th-50th 4* Colour 3
51st... 3*'s0 -

Covers should never be an advance slower but only ISOS. Everybody should be "equal" with covers rewards that's why a crafting system is needed. I'm not talking about my suggestion topic but the facts are here. The game can't continue like that.
With a crafting system there would be no more "chore system", because you'll know passing time on the game will assure you to get something.
Actual system can't permit to new players and even average players to play the game in good conditions. It's too much fastidious and not fun at all to grind every 3-4-6-8 hours or fight again lv270 to get nothing interesting.
And veterans don't worry because you will continue to dominate the game but people will have the choice between play to be competitive or just play for the fun and occasionally.
D3 does something please !!!0 -
Top 50 for one cover is really demanding, and then you have Storm as a consolation price, ****!!! At least It should be some new character like Luke Cage, Groot or Doom purple, not a **** useless Storm cover NOBODY wants. If you miss Top50 ALL your work is for nothing, wasted.
Then we have ANOTHER 4* in just one month after Elektra came out, THIS IS TOO MUCH. We should be having a new 4* each 3 months or something like that, so we have some time to get some covers for it, I doubt allmost anybody but whales has a maxed Eleketra by now.
I am still considering if participating or not in this event, I made peace with the game after the Elektra debacle, but now, I am considering again leaving the game all together. When I see a new 4* that soon after the last one I got depressed, and loose all motivation in the game...0 -

They've had more Storm PVPs and prizes in the past few seasons than any other character in the game.
Literally everyone has a 13 cover storm by now haha.0 -
