is periodic double iso events enough?

Surely it's "just a test" and they'll be gathering data on play time etc. but the squirrel girl PvP has double iso (I'm assuming matches are as well, not just progression and placement rewards). So, do you guys think this will be enough to alleviate the iso problems we've been having from all the new characters and 4* needing more iso? Would it need to be once a week? Is every new char PvP enough? Interested to hear what you guys think.
Edit: I'm not trying to be critical. I think this is a fantastic move and I'll likely play this event more than any others. Just not sure it really goes far enough.

I still don't understand this "iso shortage". You have a set amount of iso. It hasn't changed in forever. You decide how to spend the iso. It's a strategic decision. Not sure why people expect to be able to immediately level up a character for every new cover they get. One hardcore whale does it by grinding crazy hours and how everyone expects to be able to level up every character they have covers for?0

They once posted that having HP/iso sales increases sales for the period of time but then activity drops to below normal for a while so it's hard to say if it's a net positive revenue and I think the double iso is similar. Goodwill goes up during the double iso period but once it runs out you'll have more people complaining that it isn't double iso. Of course, since it's still a net gain compared to the alternative (no double iso event) I can't really complain that they're doing it.0

It's not so much that it's immediately levelling up, it's that it takes such a long time and you can't keep up with the ISO newly needed.
Every 3* takes 172764 to get to 166, a 4* 430464 to get to 270. (*)
My Wolveroach account currently has 12 characters that are below the maximum level they could be with the covers they have. I need 220339 ISO to fully level them. And every time I get another cover, depending on whether it's the 2nd or 13th, it takes between 513 and 32494 to raise them to the new maximum level.
I get something like 20k ISO a week in normal play, rough guess. So if I got no new covers and used no boosts I'd have a surplus of ISO in about 11 weeks.
But I'll probably get a Thor and SG cover overnight, giving SG another 13 possible levels which I'll need 6761 to reach, Thor gets 10, that's only 3141. Another 10k short, which I should make during the week, but by then Cover Squirrel will be over, and should I get a Blade cover that's another 11 levels to his maximum and 5952 to reach. I'm barely keeping pace and that's gaining a cover at 0/1/2 or 1/1/2.
When I get my daily reward yellow X-Force tomorrow his max level goes from 152 (he's only 110) to I don't know what, but each 5 level increase in maximum is 9k to achieve.
Adding a new character every 2 weeks just causes me to be further behind, assuming I get covers.
Anyway, that's my fairly disjointed response to what the ISO shortage is.
(*) My spread sheet could be wrong, but the figures are close enough for government work.0 -

Of course why do you need to keep up? Maxing every character is useless in PvP and only a moderate advantage in PvE (Despite having 21 maxed 3* I'll rarely run more than 5 of them in an event).0 -

I guess the pace of release is supposed to fit for heavy grinders.
20K Iso a week means you don't play a lot. 20K Iso is what you can get playing less than 1 day of Lightning Rounds.0 -
i think it would be neat to have each season with 1 event 2x , 1 event 2x , and 1 event 2 &2x hp( or just 4x ) and just have the events be random in the season. this can be applied to simulater as well on random days0
-
how about 2x odds for rares from gold tokens? of course two times nothing is ....
seriously its a nice gesture, no need to smack a gift horse in the mouth. 2x lightning round days would be very cool.0 -
A few months ago, they increased the amount of Iso won in the Top 10 and Top 5 (can't remember for Top 50...).
From what I understood, it was strongly suggested by the SHIELD members.
Participation increased and so competition.
With the cooldown system, some brackets are very quiet now, and little effort is required to rank Top 5. But, progression rewards above 1000 are unreachable.
Their stats must have shown them that it's time to give more Iso, they also may announce a new 4* and think they will avoid a riot by giving a few thousands Iso meanwhile, and they may intend to decrease the price of Iso again (the way they already did in July).0 -
Periodic often enough? No. Hopefully progression rewards and match rewards double as well.
It's incredibly frustrating to have so many characters sitting on the bench going nowhere, because you don't have nearly enough ISO to level them. I think the "ISO shortage" is felt most by the newer players, who will end up with plenty of characters and tons of covers, but it will take much longer to get enough covers to make any (much less any that are "good") fully covered. In the meantime, they should probably take the not-as-good characters to 94 and then 166, right?
It's just to much ISO needed to even get started in the transitions now when there are so many characters. More 4*'s are going to make it that much worse. Any little bits help, but honestly if they doubled all iso permanently I still believe there would be an ongoing shortage.0 -
To be honest it's probably just a stunt to try to win back all the players who left after the shield cooldown change. Would not mind to see it as a periodic event but I highly doubt they would do it.0

I thought it was a gimmick to get people to play a Squirrel Girl pvp...0

I have a 3/5/3 Nick Fury.
And I don't even want to level him.
The iso required to make him useful is not worth the power level he brings to the table.
Because ISO is the most valuable thing in this entire game. And if you aren't getting notable value out of each drop of ISO, you're wasting it.
That's the basis behind the ISO shortage.
When you feel like you have too many characters that need ISO, and you're gaining ISO so slowly that there is almost no good way to allocate it.0 -
Is the 8-hour refresh time in PvE (and limiting the amount of time playing it) giving out less iso-8 than the 2–3-hour refreshes? Without trying to calculate it, I'd assume so and this double iso-8 is only compensating for that. I could be wrong but that's my gut reaction.0

I just don't even understand this reply to Scotee. With any limited resource, you must prioritize its consumption. If 4* Nick Fury is unusable because you put all your ISO into other characters (I'm guessing a lvl 270 X-Force) that was your priority, obviously. If this is the "ISO shortage" problem, then it's ridiculous. Furthermore, 4* characters are very useful with the amount ISO it takes to max a 3*, particularly since the 4* game is still in its infancy.
Essentially, you are just asking for your characters to level automatically with each new cover as if ISO didn't exist. It does. It's meant to function this way. So yes, you are intended to have max covered characters that are under leveled, by design.
I have a dozen or more 3* characters at lvl 125 or so. None maxed. That's my priority and I'm not complaining about it.
Lastly, you should consider that MPQ is a competitive game, so, I sincerely doubt that increasing ISO across the board will give you the advantage you hope it will.0 -
It's 100% inevitable that we'll need more iso than we get.
I have a 166 Blade. I levelled it up at the cost of levelling my Groot. Since he's on pvp now, I'm giving him priority, but I'd say I'm managing to max one character a month. If they're releasing 2 or 3 characters a month, that means I'm maxing a third of my new characters.
In my opinion, that's the way it should be. People should arrive at the game and pick a few characters they enjoy to max. We should not expect to all be Cologs without dropping some serious money on the game.0 -
If you think there is no ISO shortage then you probably dedicate more time to the game then sleep, work, friends and family.
If you are making 20K ISO in a day on lightning rounds then you probably dedicate more time to the game then sleep, work, friends and family.
I wouldn't have the time nor desire to play any other PVP or PVE events if I were dedicating that much time just to lightning rounds.0 -

If you go to a game's message board to accuse people of playing that game too much, you really need to think it through. Specially if there is no ingame link whatsoever to that message board. People who get here are people who loved the game so much they decided to find the official place to talk to other people about it's specifics. Or they're people who want to say "F your game it sucks" and move on with their lives. Which one are you? Do you go to forums about Border Collies and accuse people of spending too much time with their dogs?0 -
I look at it this way, PVE is what offers the most ISO in the game and when you had to play every 2 and 1/2 hours to place you would earn a lot of ISO. PVP earns consistant ISO until high level when you have to start boosting to place then it is a small gain. LR give really solid bump if you can get in enough matches.
With new 8HR refresh times in PVE it means after scaling and less playing. You might be boosting more in PVE to conserve health packs and earning a lot less ISO. The Dev's are testing out double ISO to make up the difference. I hope they keep it, as double ISO and 8HR refresh in PVE. It makes the game much less stressful and I feel like I have more time to play this game and do other things.
Keep up the good changes D30
