Anyone keeping their Ares cover other than to Collect it?

Other than collecting this new cover is their a point to keep it? I think he had one decent power but which cover doesn't? Anyhow, in the Ares Hunt it's almost laughable that the Punisher and of course IW is a higher reward. Therefore is there really anyone actually hunting for Ares or just Punisher and IW?

I'm actually looking forward to messing around with him. Still need him for the inevitable Dark Avenger event.

He will certainly show up a lot in the next Dark Avengers event. Seeing as how most of the Dark Avengers are heavy black/purple, it'll be nice to have strong green/red/yellow powers to diversify the team.

It was a past PVP event where you could only use characters labelled Dark Avengers, it is possible we might see it again in the future.

The problem with the DA tourney(s) is it had **** rewards. Hopefully that changes in the future.


I like Ares as a character. With the possible upcoming nerfs to Thor and Wolvy, you might want to hold onto him as he could become one of the few effective 2 star damage dealers.

Ares has 3 abilities, just like Thor.

Ares apparently has comparable health to Thor.

Ares has all direct-damage abilities, just like Thor.

Ares uses red, yellow, and green, just like Thor.

Thor is on the upcoming nerf list.

I'm hanging on to mine and leveling it now. Currently have a 2/2/4 at level 42. I have noticed that any new character tends to be used in another event within a few days of the current event's end.

I figured Ares will show up as a progression reward for a tournament at some point so I'm not in a hurry to collect him, though he certainly looks like he can be a solid character when the obviously overpowered characters are bought in line.

Does he look like a good defense character for PVP? I've seen Juggernaut comparisons - would a high level Ares say " stay away" or just invite a beating?

Since there aren't enough normal level 85 Ares around it's impossible to speculate at this point because you don't know how reliably you can take down a level 85 Ares before he gets a major move off.

For example right now I can say for sure OBW just invites a beating from me because she almost always died before she can get off Aggressive Recon. But this isn't something you can infer by just looking at her stats. However, Ares does have an advantage that his colors are likely redundant with other characters, so you don't have an issue like OBW where if you kill her, the opposing team is likely sitting on a bunch of useless purple/blue tiles.

Compared to what? If I am.using a green.heavy team I am looking at ares with licked chops. Otherwise I'd rather fight a number of characters over him...but he isn't as good as most 3*** and subsequently isnt that scary (I'd still prefer to see grey suit, I'm40, and maybe rag). Compared to other 2** I would say he is near the top in avoidance factor though.

Does anybody have his maxed stats yet? Sometimes extrapolating data doesn't work as they lvl using a diff coefficient.

Wasn't it giving out Spidey? I remember being annoyed at Rags having easy access to nearly all the best rewards. And it being one of the "tells" that a Rag nerf was incoming (I.e. giving out Spidey to soften the blow).

I'm pretty excited about Ares. I'm in the process of leveling him up already. Definitely not grabbing him just to collect him. He looks pretty good.

As for Ares, I think he's pretty decent. The problem with Ares, Hulk, Punisher, and every single new character that comes out, is that (pre-nerf) Thor, Wolvie, Rags make them pointless.

If memory serves me, the last DA tourney was shortly after Moonstone was released. And given what others have said about new characters having their own tourneys shortly after release, I think it likely that we'll see another DA tourney come up. Personally, I'll be happy to see more DA's so we can see fewer Daken spams.

As for whether Ares will be nerfed,

Thor is on the upcoming nerf list.

The major difference is the cost of the abilities. None of Ares is spammable. His red requires 10 AP vs. Thor's 6. While the yellow ability is cheaper by 1 AP, it also comes with a drawback of sorts. The green is also cheaper but comes with a more significant drawback that can't be mitigated. I think Ares is much more well-designed than Thor and isn't likely to be nerfed any time soon.
