What's the point?

I'm grinding away to stay in the top 50 of each sub for the event token. Don't even like pvp (due to getting "walled" early each time) but get to 300 for the token. Did this for each sub in simulator and hulk and all the pvp's during these two events only to get a 2* cover EACH AND EVERY TIME, at least 20 or more tokens. Grinding away for nothing but some measly iso each time really seems like a slap in the face.
So i get pissed and actually buy a heroic pack (congrats d3, u weaseled it out of me) and land 3 gold covers finally. Guess that extra .1% really ups the odds
One the other hand, thanks for the green hulk cover in the middle of the event, it was the only one i hadn't pulled yet I was stunned and actually thought I was in the wrong event or something.

Yay, another "tokens have a pathetic drop rate" thread I can join in on! I'll just re-calculate rather than looking for my post:
31 3* characters x 13 covers needed for each (assuming rags gets 3rd next season) = 403 needed covers. If you get one each day, and it was an optimal pull, you'd be 3* covered in about a year and a half. But do YOU get one each day?
The game is trending to 4*, so 3* transition needs to be made MUCH easier. 10% drop rate and 2x as much ISO everywhere.
(Zero 3*'s pulled from tokens in Hulk event, but that's pretty typical - I just expect to not pull any 3* from any token at this point, then I'm never disappointed.)0 -
I've been getting a good amount of 3* covers from the hulk event (including new doom purple ), so much so that 100k iso I had stockpiled is now depleted. Just the luck of the draw.0

I've had good luck in the past, but this has felt like forever since a gold pull.
I did get 2 mohawk storm's from the standard (silver) tokens in the same day a few weeks ago.0 -

Do you play the game? 2 cover is not a easy job espeically you are not in a top 100 allanices. PVE is nothing guranatee and dont forget tons of new charater realesase there.
Please dont use "average". It is misleading figure! Most rewards are dominated by 3* 4* roster but not arrive to the hand of 2* transitior.
Rotation is a big mistake but the dev team have NO solution yet0 -

I'm surprised no-one would be in favour of increasing the drop rates. The purchased packs are very expensive & a cruel lottery.
E.g. I actually purchased a Luke Cage 42 pack - to receive not one Luke Cage ZERO.
but did get a Rocket & Groot , Steve Rogers , Hulk (already maxed), Falcon (already maxed).
So that's a lot of money spent on so few covers & such little ISO return.
Even if they did increase the drop rate, players would still be VERY tempted to buy ISO to level those purchased hero's.
My odds overall have been about standard:
100 standard tokens = ~3
42 packs = 3-4 including 4 's
If the drop %'s would not increase than I'd hope the prices would decrease.0 -

That, or just make token rewards more frequent. 5 or 6 during progression rewards (instead of 2), 10 pack for rank 1-2 / 5 for 3-50 / 3 for 50-100 in subs.
That way it will still be a nice surprise when you pull a gold.0 -

I think the game is fixed.
All my F2P friends get massive pulls all day every day.
All my HP purchasing friends (including myself) get nothing but 2 stars all day every day.
I think once the game notices you actually buy HP, they ratchet down your 3 and 4 star pull rates and just wait for you to get impatient and buy a 1250 or 2500 HP cover.
There's no way it's completely random.0 -
First, the odds suck. Second, PvE is trash. Third, you don't need every 3* in the game. You just need the ones that would actually be of some use for extended play and can place high in PvP. Doesn't matter if a character is released in PvE, you can generally win them soon in PvP. Last but not least, if you don't see the point of it all, go okay a different game. I have put this game down for this season and finding Terra Battle quite enjoyable.0

Second, I am in a ~36-man alliance (lightly recruiting if you want to join), in which I'd say half are transitioning and another handful are firmly 2* still. Those transitioners generally can score top 100, and we rotate guys around a lot to spread covers around to those that need them, as our main alliance is almost always top 100.
As for pve you're right there is no guarantee, but if you watch the forum and join a new bracket, or join right at the start, and play it a reasonable amount each day, then you should have enough for one or two covers and maybe even an alliance cover.
I never said this is what the average transitioning player could expect to get, but if it's worth it to you, you could put in a little extra effort in some events or in finding a higher placing alliance. I also said it needs work, cause even as many rewards as I was laying out is not enough to transition in what I would call a reasonable timeframe.0 -
I got 2 4* covers in a row from heroic tokens from the Hulk sub events. One being the Green wolvie I've been praying for to take me to lvl 5 in green. It's just luck. Of all the **** this entertainment service provides the drop rates are the least of my worries.0

There is quite the gap between spending 30+ hours for event tokens getting nothing but 2* Moonstones and Easy Mode.
Instead of "beating this to death", why don't the devs actually do something to address it? Playing this game for naught is beating ourselves to death.
Your next comment may be, well don't play. Instead of defaulting to this take, why not question why the devs don't want to improve the game based on stringent opinions from those that put money in their pockets and food on their table?

Essentially, yes, it is. "Good drop rates" basically means it's substantially easier to get higher end covers, because nobody is going to be happy with a %1 increase. It's not supposed to be a cakewalk to get them. You're supposed to earn them at a slow pace.
Do I agree more avenues to get covers would be nice, yeah, of course it would be nice, but it's not something they owe us. It's primarily a mobile game, it is designed to be slow-paced and keep your attention for an extended period of time. It's not Final Fantasy, it's not designed to be binge played. For you. The largest part of the Marvel Puzzle Quest community might very well be able to use that 2* cover. Yeah, it's pretty frustrating getting 2* covers from Tokens, Event Tokens especially, but at the end of the day, giving away 3* (and now 4*) covers at a premium like they do 2*s then it would be the same story; a month of solid play and you have everything worthwhile.
I don't even play that often (i.e. I miss probably every other PvP), nor do I grind any events (i.e. I join PvEs in the last day), and I've managed a an almost completely covered and leveled 2* roster in maybe three months. I can't get any further than 300 in PvP (but if I play an entire PvE, I can hit top progression without any issues if I have the essential). Through this I've managed to get one 3* with nine covers (The Hood), one 3* with six covers (The Hulk), a couple with three or four covers, and quite a few with two covers. I've managed to earn 28 roster slots without spending a penny, though I've never used a shield, so 100% of my Hero Points have gone to that.

For the record, since it seems to be the implication, I am a free-to-play player, and I still hold the opinion that I do. The reality truly is this is not a game meant to be played straight through to an ending. If that's what you're looking for, you're probably looking in the wrong place. That being said, you don't need to stop playing, but adjust your expectations. For example, would you try and tell From Software that Dark Souls needs to be easier? the problem is not how many they give out but how many can arrive to 2* team 's hand. Sorry the % is too low. In PVP if 2* team dont shield , your are purely targeted by 3* team. I m rarely see an unshield 2* roster can stand top 100 in PVP ( well may be the rewards is 3* beast, doc oct or 3* storm)
