Shield cool down question?

The thing is, they could fix it if they wanted, which is sad. Remember when LR's actually gave you specific covers? That was how I got my Hood, Loki, Doom, C.Mags and Rags 80% covered was through those lightning rounds. With so many characters now that might not be a bad idea again. You could even just have tokens that guarentee you a cover in said character. So if you go 5th place you might get 2 Doc Ock tokens but they are guarenteed covers. Little things like that would go a long way to showing the players that while $ is important, having a fun and meaningul experience is also important.
If they capped prices or removed roster slots and did nothing for 6 months but turn out characters I would be oh so happy.0 -

The big guns that were scoring 2,000+ are still gonna win all the events, they seem to have infinite $$$ to spend, so paying 525 HP cycling thru the different shields isn't even going to phase them. The new players aren't invested enough to care how well they place yet, so they probably wont even notice a change. But people going for placement to get those 3* covers they need to make their transition? They're TINY-KITTYED.
Thankfully, I'm neither of these things, I'm the guy with a roster full of 166s and maxed Xforce & Fury that only really goes for 900 because darn it, one of these days that 900 token will pay out something other than a Hawkeye. But I can say with absolute certainty, if I was a player fighting to make the transition to 3* land, this would be the end for me. The carrot would be dangling so far out of reach that I would just give up. A lot of people have said a lot of things that D3 has done would cost them all their customers, but I think we've finally found the thing that will actually cost them a large chunk of customers. You've just made an already difficult game transition phase next to impossible unless you're willing to throw hundreds of dollars at the game, something most of these players aren't willing to do. Perhaps they are planning to make this transition easier in the future, but I'm not sure they can do it before too many players say f-it and just give up.
i tend to think transition from 3* to 4* is more impacted. I have max Lthor/Hood etc and a 3/5/2 XF. Previously i could have hopped to 1300 when a green XF was up for grabs at 1300 (not the win as 4* teams should be able to beat me)....whats my new avenue other than saving 2500 HP. Given the accepted practise of transition to 4* has been removed, i hope they have a plan and implement it fairly fast, otherwise am i expected to continue to play a season where most rewards i can achieve are sold (as 3* cover maxed), and 4* out of reach?0 -
Yeah it looks like 900 is the new 1300. It's such a double punch as well since you can do less fights and those fights well give much less points0

You don't need to shield jump to hit 3* placement unless you don't have a real 2* roster to support it.
What world are you playing in? While top100 was easily done for me (level 135) with one shield, I am thinking the earlier transitioners would have a lot more difficulty making it. If I wanted to finish in top25 and get two covers, it would require at least 2, sometimes 3 shields to hop high enough.
The biggest issue is the margin of error. My strategy is to hang out around 500, then push until I run out of health and shield. Before the changes, I could start around the 5 hour mark and use 2 shields. If I took some bad beats on one push, it would eliminate top25, but I could still make up enough ground on the other push to get top100. With the changes, the strategy is to push in the last 3 hours. If something goes wrong on that push, I can miss the top100 and miss my alliance minimum of 600. There is no longer the margin of the second push.
I do not understand why the cooldown time is not equal to the length of the shield. If the cooldown for a 3 hour shield was 3 hours, it would allow the f2p transitioner the opportunity to be able to push towards top25 for the desired covers, as well as reign in the high scores like D3 wants.0 -
I'd even allow the 3 hour shield to have a 2 hour codlin, that way you don't have to time it insanely precise to jump but still get rid of the crazy high points.
But really, who is a 6k or even a 2k score hurt? Well D3, and the 1300 4-star reward. They don't want so many people to have the opportunity to gain it and every other way of draining it would have been too obvious. i.e. removing the reward or pushing it to say 2000p, this way it they can spin it as consumer friendly.0 -

You're absolutely right, i didn't really think about this. I was thinking more of players going for top 5 finishes because they almost always put the "good" 3* cover as the top 5 prize. Personally, I've slowed down my play a LOT lately, so hitting 1300 hasn't really been something I've tried to accomplish in quite some time. I spent so much time and HP hopping to get Fury covered that when Thor came around I was pretty burnt out. Xforce and Fury are enough to get me thru most events, I'll get Thor when I get her.0
