Just a thought.

Man. Okay. First of all, the Ragnarok nerf was obviously coming. Everyone who feels cheated needs to shut up. Have you guys never played an online game before. That's what this game is. Was it overkill? Yes. But again how could you not expect it after Loki and storm. It was predictable.

Balances like this will make actual PvP(a guy can dream right) a possibility which actually makes me happy.

But at the same time I don't feel like its right to just do it so unexpectedly.

I'm more peeved at changing the shield rewards the moment they became obtainable.

  • Being predictable does not justify what happened.
  • First of all the devs should of learn't from their past mistakes/nerfs.
Secondly this means that thor is going to be even more common even though he is probbly the most common character in the game, this nerf is only bad, now mags and spidey are far and away the best 2 characters, so they can expect to be nerfed soon.

i'm just gonna copy and paste my reply from another thread cuz its relevent.

"balancing the game is one thing. destroying a character to be unusable is another. (and if you tell me he's useable, why wouldn't we use thor over him? thor's red ap is superior to ragnarok's now and does more damage at level 85, compared to ragnaroks red ap ability...at level 115.

at level 115, thor's red would do 1506 damage, compared to the current 967 level 115 ragnarok does, about 60-70% more.

not to mention thor's red generates one additional tile.

    mind boggling."

No one is complaining about the nerf happening. What people are complaining about is how d3 nerfed a character to the point where it is now worse than many 2* characters. If they did something like increase all red ap costs by 2, that would have nerfed rag but still make him a viable character, which people would have been grumpy about, but would have accepted as bettering the game.
  • He was blatantly overpowered. Nerfbat was bound to swing. Can't tell you how many games I've seen this kind of stuff happen. Anyone mad just doesn't know online games. From Ragnarok Online to League of Legends. It's all just hilarious to me now. Forums after these kind of things make me smile so much. People adapt. But this is just extra funny because people are raging over a free to play mobile game. Well. I guess it's on steam but still.

since you quoted league of legends and i'm a huge league player, i'll just quote when they recently nerfed fiddlesticks.

[Summary: We've reduced the duration of Terrify at later ranks and lowered the mana cost of both Terrify and Crowstorm.
"Terrify is rather… terrifying at later levels, especially with the current pace of the game. That said, we didn't want to straight nerf Fiddle's power without any compensation. Cutting down his mana costs means that Fiddle can stay out in the field a little longer (especially after team fights), while the slight buff to Terrify's rank 1 duration helps his unstable early game.]

A developer comes out, says the thinking of why he was nerfed, and gives a well thought out explanation on why it was nerfed.

today, the developer posted notes about why ragnarok was not just nerfed, but destroyed as a character (simple apples to apples comparison to an almost identical character in thor can show you the heavyhandedness of the nerf, and i don't see why people can't tell it was absolutely heavy handed, i might have to make a post with all the calculations before people understand) with zero explanation. or I hear there was an explanation but it was quickly deleted.

the deafening silence from the dev team without iceix [and depending on one person to be the voice of the developers seems too much], to me, is rather damning.

you're not making any friends around here with that attitude
  • Oh, Dugn, your posts have made me smile most of all.

and that kids, is the key to the whole thing. nerfbat or no nerfbat, have the sac to explain yourself.
  • I believe I addressed how sudden it was in the original post. Pretty messed up yeah but you gotta shrug, laugh, and then keep playing. Or ragequit. But what's the fun in that.

Well I mean I was on the verge of losing interest anyway
  • Yeah it's a mobile game. Only reason I've maintained interest this long is because its mostly just something to do during breaks or commercials. Plus I'm just a huge bejeweled fan.

I'm' glad you get some sadistic pleasure in the frustrations of others.

You know thats classical sociopathic behavior right?
  • I was told that by a psych major once actually. I admit I have some of the tendencies.
  • The game will be nerfed down to allow a new batch of people just like us to get excited, get their hopes up, have another nerf, rinse and repeat, and we will all be long gone. The negative press and reviews will catch up to them, though, so oh well. I'm not upset by the money I spent, I just can't believe there's such a lack of concern for the people keeping them employed.
  • This is exactly why I dumped hp on hulk and Punisher...saw it coming icon_e_sad.gif
  • Yep. Some early warnings would be nice. I'm all for the super spam skills being placed in a graveyard though. I want actual live PvP. And things like 2ap skills would be a bit toxic to it.

    Pretty shortsighted thinking imo.

F2P but the game won't survive without monetary support. The HP and the upgrades are available for a reason - Devs want you to spend $ so they can feed their families. And people have. In droves if the forum is any indication (and I know it might not be). So people aren't just "raging over a free to play mobile game". Many spent quite a bit, some as late as this afternoon, on a character that was overnerfed. So now all these droves of people that have spent $ are understandably upset that they just paid for a BMW and got a Toyota instead. Is this more clear to you now?

Making games take 15-20 turns I just as toxic in that people will lose the connection, have to do something else, etc.

Don't enter a match if you don't have time. Every game ever. But I'm sure if there are actual PVP matches there wont be boosts in them and such so it'll still take a minute.
